Nice videos. I always admire solo travellers. I did two visa runs in late 80's. Once by plane because I had already overstayed and once by train. Took my Thai girlfriend, who became my wife (30 years ago). Still my wife.

Haven't done a visa run down there yet. But will be in Hua Hin for a week starting on Monday. Living in Bangkok for this first year, doing week long visits to decide where I want to end up.

I used to do my visa runs to penang from Pattaya when I lived there in the early half of the nineties and we used to take bottles of Mekhong whiskey on board and we'd drink in in the buffet car where they also cooked food and you could get mixer drinks and ice to go with the whiskey, we had no problem sleeping haha. Alcohol has been banned on trains in thailand now since 2014

Hi Rocket. I've done a few Penang visa runs. Great place for you to do a broadcast from, especially the food. Compare price/quality of food.Good Indian food down on Penang. They used to have a Chang beer girl on the train back in the day. I will do my upmost to meet up when I move to Huahin this year. Good luck with visa.

Sorry Rocket. Didn't realise you have Penang experience. Don't want to preach to the converted. I have fond memories of that train trip, the fried chicken on board. I'm still house hunting in Huahin(online). The choice and value is unreal as you probably know mate. £150,000 for a nice pool villa with decent garden. You don't fancy doing house's for sale in Huahin video's do you.

I always enjoy train travel videos. Done that one myself many moons ago but the border crossing looks just the same! Are you just doing a visa exempt entry or are you going to the Thai consulate for a tourist visa? Only ask out of curiosity as you mentioned retirement and marriage extensions in the video. Safe travels.

at the moment aim just living on a tourist visa plus the odd 30 day extension because I have long term travel plans outside Thailand hopefully going to India this year and South America next year once I settle down in Thailand for good I will get a marriage visa

I have friends in Penang and I plan on making this a regular trip its a nice option to just jump on the train thanks for your comment

What sort of visa do you have?.will you apply for a visa in Malaysia.How long will you be able to stay in Thailand when you cross back?

at the moment iam just on a 30 day tourist visa it suits my travel plans for the future. long term I will get a marriage visa
