I just found this video, but I found Sleep Token years ago, and the way you’re reacting is EXACTLY how I did.

This song & video got me into ST. I listened & watched it probably 20 times and was just in awe, mesmerized. Then I went through the whole catalog, lyrics, and videos and bought everything that was for sale. Am I obsessed? Yes. How can you not be? The voice, the production, the lyrics, the drums, the bass & guitar, keyboards, constantly changing genres (even within a song) ... it is absolute perfection and hits all the right spots. I even bought professional headphones so that I wouldn't miss anything. And let me tell you, it was so worth it. Eargasms are a real thing. 😛

Welcome to what is no longer the best kept secret in music. Don't stop here. Keep digging.

I have an unhealthy obsession with this track and this band... just from another world the entire band is.. I moved onto Chokehold from this track, and the same obsession applied, and hasn't subtracted from this one haha!! omg... best. PS - this was a great reaction! Im impressed on how much you pick up on, first spin of a track!

The biggest problem with new releases from this band is people don’t or don’t know to go back in the catalogue. Everything is amazing. Worship!

Oh yeah, he’s in. I know that look too well. Welcome. Worship. Edit: to understand this song, and actually all their songs, knowing the lore helps connect some dots. Sleep Token are united in their worship of a deity called only Sleep (as the true name is beyond the capabilities of human language), who appeared to the lead singer (Vessel) in a dream. I know, I know - but follow me here. Their lyrics are genius in that, on one hand, they’re general enough to be related to by anyone listening, and on the other, they’re specific enough to interpret them as an offering to Sleep. You’ll find this throughout their catalog and in titles, like The Offering, The Summoning, etc. Vessel’s relationship with Sleep is at times oppositional, at times loving, at times obsessive, and at times heartbreaking, which you’ll find in the complexity of the lyrics - but again, to me, the true genius is that they’re written in a way that allows the listener to draw their own meaning from the words. Who among us hasn’t met someone who immediately and forever changed our lives (It’s too late for me now, I am altered), or been the source of such complex emotions that they’re completely indescribable (She’s not acid nor alkaline, yada, yada)? Sleep Token are the total package. Oh, and make The Summoning or Vore a priority if you’re looking for growls.

I'm the same way, I hate watching shows or listening to artists when there is a lot of hype about them because in some cases, it isn't worth the hype. I really like Sleep Token's sound!

They recently released five singles for their upcoming album titled "Take Me Back to Eden", I'd recommend starting with the songs in order of their release, so start with "Chokehold" and follow that up with "The Summoning" -- you'll be glad you did! great commentary! i'll vouch as well although when discovering a new band i like starting from the roots and working up to the beginning. is say next try. Jaws... The Offering... then skip to The Suffering... Granite... and help yourself to whatever in between

I have been digging into the songs I've reacted to for the last month and I can't get over how much I keep uncovering! Lyrically, Musically and energetically. It's ALL great!

"This is what I've been looking for." Exactly my feelings when I first heard Sleep Token earlier this year. I feel like I've been looking for music that scratches a VERY SPECIFIC ITCH and makes me feel A VERY SPECIFIC WAY and have been ALMOST THERE with a lot of bands, and then Sleep Token came in SWINGING at the beginning of the year with the new singles like... this is IT. this is EXACTLY what I've been craving with music. I 100% agree with all recommendations. If you're looking for growls and/or screams: -Hypnosis -The Offering -The Summoning -Vore I'll recommend Gods even tho I don't like the song bc he IS yelling in it, it's just... not my fave haha

That is THE BEST way to describe them! A band that scratches a VERY SPECIFIC ITCH! Like when you ask someone to scratch your back and they get that spot you haven’t been able to reach on your own! EXACTLY!!!!!

Sleep Token - The Summoning Sleep Token - The Offering Sleep Token - Hypnosis Sleep Token - Alkaline Sleep Token - The Love You Want Sleep Token - Bloodsport (from the room below) If you start with these, which are their biggest hits, you'll have a good introduction to how awesome they are but not the full scope of their versatility. I strongly suggest delving into their catalogue.

Thank you! I have no formal education except for trumpet in high school marching band. I am a third gen musician in my family. Self taught mostly, my real education was locking myself in my room as a kid and diving deep into music. Paying close attention to everything I would hear. You are the best reactor to express and "decipher" the Sleep Token sound structures.

It's always a joy to come across someone who knows how to properly appreciate the music in detail like you do here - and you've found the perfect band to do it as well. I've been a huge fan of them since their track 'The Love You Want' came out, and they've completely changed the way I listen to music. I saw that you're planning to react to Chokehold in another comment; I highly recommend checking out both versions of their song Blood Sport, starting with the album version (I have a feeling you'll get a kick out of the From the Room Below version). A quick heads up: Vessel (the singer) rarely uses harsh vocals. The only songs they have that include screaming are The Offering, Gods, Higher, Hypnosis, High Water, The Summoning, and Vore. Most of them are just one or two lines, but Gods and their more recent works (The Summoning and Vore) feature harsh vocals more prominently. I tell everyone this in order to remove expectations from new potential fans: Sleep Token aren't a metal band, they just do it really well. I think you'll have a blast getting into them if you liked this; have fun! Worship.

this was your introduction to Sleep Token? If so, I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one pulling faces.. all though I started with "The Night Does Not Belong to God" and that song has a live video from a cell phone that somehow even in that quality sounds amazing.. This band is something else and I love that I can be a witness to it, I'm glad it's in my timeline

You should watch the covers by Will Ramos of Lorna Shore as well as the reaction to sleep token by Will Ramos and the charismatic voice, they do a nice breakdown.

I took a while to first listen to Sleep Token because I was looking for something with really harsh vocals at the time. When I was finally in the mood for something clean sounding, I listened to them. I haven't looked back since.
