it's definitely the 'big bang' of their discography. you can't really trace the "one" EP to jaws. you can kinda, just barely trace the "two" EP to jaws. but you can totally trace jaws all the way to euclid, honestly. the whole vibe of the band clearly took off post-jaws production, even if the band itself didn't actually take off immediately. it's crazy

The drummer is a BEAST!!

I have no idea how Vessel balances being the hypeman with also dancing like a tortured soul, but I'm here for it.

Finding this the night Sleep Token are playing a sold out London Wembley Arena. 2023 has been fucking crazy for them, truly. THIS was a little more than ONE YEAR AGO. In January they were supporting Architects during a Germany Arenas/Great Halls tour and this month of December, they came back to the same places, as the main act, all shows sold out. Each concerts they've announced these last few days got sold out in less than a week. They come from the Metal scene. Not even the kind known to a random person. They've just started the new era at the time I'm writing this. With new masks and overall looks. I might have got tired of Take Me Back To Eden, but will never of one thing. Worship.

So what do you think is in store for the new era? Although I’m a new fan as of this year due to hearing The Summoning, TMBTE is my least favorite. I love the old stuff. Doubt I’ll ever see Jaws performed but appreciated Blood Sport at Wembley. I saw them this past September and have tix for NY in May. Hoping for the best.

@@dianaharris2389 Lore wise, Take Me Back To Eden was the last part of the trilogy Sundowning started. The album was about Vessel settling final scores with Sleep, ending this toxic relationship he was entangled in, wanting to be someone new like he mentionned in Euclid. Vessel's mask changed this year, in proportions but most importantly, with red paint on it probably to show the blood and the dmg of this relationship. II, III and IV revealed new looks and masks marking a new era. Quite different, detailed, almost looking like war masks. On the other hand we got these 12 entities with each song of the last album, looking also like warriors and creatures ready to battle. Vessel might get a new one in the same vibe next so... What if this new era and 4th album are about going to war against Sleep. I mean, you're in a pretty fucked mental state after something like that. And to give an impact to this new storyline, Sleep Token gets heavier than they ever did. That is based on some theories I saw here and there in the band's Discord server.

@@dianaharris2389 No idea. First of all there should be a headline tour announcement this month but I do feel new music might come sooner than we think. I mean, there hasn't been a full 2 years cycle between each album. Sundowning came in November 2019, TPWBYT in September 2021 and TMBTE in May 2023.

I'm kinda confused, from looking at live performances of this and hypnosis, I'm getting the impression that the bassist doesn't play whenever there's an 8 string guitar involved, which I suppose makes some sense if they occupy the same octave, but basses are a still a lot more, well...bassy, so why does the mix not end up sounding kind of thin in either song?

Hi, mix engineer here. I agree that the bassist doesn’t play much other than root notes; cell phone microphones are also just really bad at picking up bass lol so he might be playing without being able to hear it in the video. Typically in any mix, the engineer will decide if bass or the kick drum/low toms will (for lack of better words) dominate the low end of the song; having a large presence of both makes it sound too muddy. So in short, the reason why the mix doesn’t sound thin without bass is that the kick/low toms are the primary low end instruments and bass is p much just there to keep the song together. Hope this helps
