Sleep hygiene is not an effective treatment for chronic insomnia

Sleep hygiene is often the first thing people with insomnia are told about. Unfortunately, sleep hygiene doesn't address the root cause of chronic insomnia, and so it isn't an effective treatment for chronic insomnia!
Unfortunately, sleep hygiene is often confused with cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) - a collection of techniques that are proven to be an effective long-term treatment for chronic insomnia!
If you've followed all the sleep hygiene advice and you are still struggling with insomnia, please look into CBT-I. CBT-I is not the same thing as sleep hygiene. CBT-I is the best treatment for insomnia and is recommended as the first-line treatment for all adults with chronic insomnia by a number of organizations including the American College of Physicians.

Thank you for your comment! A big problem with sleep hygiene is it directs attention and effort into things that, for someone with chronic insomnia, aren't going to make any difference. This can lead to a feeling of hopelessness and the belief that your insomnia is somehow unique and cannot be treated.

I found this sleep program *4InsomniaCure. Com* really effective. I started suffering from sleeping disorders at a very young age. Of all the drugs I`ve used, this plan is the only 1 which effectively smashed the cycle of my sleeping disorders. I used this guide consistently and managed to reach my target of having a better sleep.?

Thanks for sharing your opinion. So that your opinion might be a bit more constructive to others who might see this video, it would be great if you could share the sleep hygiene rituals that you found to be most helpful.
