What a load of crap. When you're singing about previously holding down 3 management positions but have thrown it away because you can't keep your fingers off the twenties then I don't think you're the voice of dissent against the government. You're the voice of everything that's wrong with this country and by suggesting otherwise you're insulting the real working class like the hard working steel workers that have recently lost their jobs.

Don't take everything Sleaford Mods say in their music so literally mate. Mr Williamson may of held down three management positions, but he's also old enough and wise enough to have done a lot of shit - like most people his age, myself included. For the first time in a long time the 'Mods are talking about things that matter...they can express the fact the tories don't give a shit about me, you, or anything except themselves and use their music for a rant. I'm sure they are probably also as angry as you and me are about the closure of the steelworks. Me?...I'm just glad to have something new I can listen to and relate to. All the best chap.

You know, as a professional musician/recording artist myself, I *could* wax lyrical about the genius to be found within the fabulous output from the Sleaford Mods. But that would ruin the point. I think the *actual* point is the fact that it's brilliantly *non*-music. They don't just stick two fingers up at the music establishment - they stick two fingers right up the cracks of the arses of the music establishment, and tell them to go fuck themselves while they're at it. Over the years, I've worked with a massive variety of artists, but I've *never* happened upon anyone quite like the Sleafords. They are the personification of 'zero fucks given', laid out on a silver platter of brilliance. It's as simple as that. Fucking *bravo*, chaps.

The nuts... & this performance is probably my favourite performance... Punk/ Hip Hop / Artform - & best of all, the music gets your blood pumping like nothing I've seen in 20 years...hats off to both of them, I love their success story - guys my age mixing an eclectic take on (broadly) punk & hip hop .... Punk-Hop? Lol just great, passionate, 'makes me want to stick on repeat, grab a beer + whack up the vol... Proper aggressive in your face 'real' punk, hip hop beats & social commentary, unique way of rapping that is really innovative & makes them proper British Hip-Hop to me, especially set against the album tracks - as innovative as The Four Owls and as hardcore as Grime, they are equally as valid & have a huge, diverse & innovative back catalogue. They can also play better with that aggressive edge live, which brings out the real spirit of the music as the best Punk groups did. Which brings the Punk element right out... to me they are the only act in the UK doing truly modern punk music... But to be all that, give away all your music for free & make profit on the vinyl sales to collectors / those with £££s to burn... Cool Bastards!! They haven't changed one bit, were hilarious & just 100% @ Glastonbury.... They seem to be getting better & better, and it's nice to hear some more chilled funk beats worked into the main beat - subtle. Bastards. I'm 45 & I'd love to be that cool, doing that for a living. JOKE - Two working class guys end up making proper quality cool tunes, lyrics & beats in their mid 40s... without compromising an inch in what they do. Like the laptop stand - that & Andrew happily bopping away to his beats... completely broke the mould. Trailblazers. Got me checking new music after getting bored. The only band that speaks right to me, expresses who i feel I am, my conflicts, my world... not many artists left of that mould... Original Pirate Material for these times - Deffo up there with that classic - Love 'em :-)

Anyone who was a teenager here in California back in the late 70's and early 80's would remember well the origins of punk, and would probably agree that if you could time-travel, you could take the music of the Sleaford Mods and put it on the sound system of the Odyssey in West LA, on a Wednesday night (punk night) and it would fit in perfectly. Sleaford Mods are the best thing to come along in a very, very long time.

Well, these guys are just the latest in a long line of folk who sing about the English working class experience. I remember back in the day a song with a similar sentiment from a fairly well-known English band called The Clash: Career Opportunities. The lyric “They’re gonna have to introduce conscription, they’re gonna have to take away my prescription” resonates with me today because that is what governments ended up doing. First with so-called YOP schemes (later transformed to YTS), then sanctioning people for not looking for work. Yet, still the ruling class here won’t give ordinary folk the skills/education they need to get quality work and good careers… The thing is that, with a wave of AI heading our way that will make even many office-based and customer-facing roles redundant, we’re going to need more welfare benefits. Time for a universal basic income. Give people a few hundred dollars a week (without having to sign on and have interviews with Job Centre staff) and, who knows?, they might do something creative and value adding with their time…

At 22 I was super fucked and with no skills, no girl, no nothing. At least now I've got a beautiful wife who will stick by me through anything. You can do it mate, I'm in a shit cycle as well, but there's light at the end of the tunnel. I wish the best for you.
