Sleaford Mods ft. Billy Nomates - Mork n Mindy (Official Video)
New album ‘UK GRIM’ out 10 March 23 via Rough Trade Records.
Pre-order/save: sleafordmods.ffm.to/ukgrim
Mork n Mindy is the sound of the central heating and the dying smells of Sunday dinner in a house on an estate in 1982. Concrete, dinted garages, nicotine. Where beauty mainly exists in small cracks on the shell of your imagination.
Directed by Ben Wheatley
Produced by Andy Starke

Mork n Mindy (feat. Billy Nomates) Mork n Mindy Action man n Cindy I don’t mess about, I make em kiss each other when my mum n dad go out, no messing, no curtain twitching, no stressin I don’t hang about, I get em down and dirty, then get em falling out, then get em flirty get em throwing plates at each other cos that’s what’s it’s all about Oi, fuck off back to ya own room In the back room when fuck all’s going on what’s new and the plated scenes of that I live on a really depressing cul de sac where couples get divorced and people come up that ya never seen before, like that, smell of cigars and oil twat You go too high too low It doesn’t make a difference I know You go too high too low But the system won’t go Mork n Mindy I got eagle eyes above me I just hit it out, in beige and tan and stain proof kitchen mats and out, house, pheasant just hanging about, look at the seed pouch on the fucker, old man and his brother, setting about, Stinks like an old body, like mornings on the voddy, shot gun lager hotty, like pornhub sticking constantly, WiFi’s gone all Lo Fi and my arse is feeling too dry, like crackers out at midnight I can’t be arsed with butter alright. You’re not from round here crashed landed about a week ago yea I feel for you I do The state of it’s alarming, so don’t presume anything or blue Monday will someday become you Well the furniture’s the same but the menu’s rearranged and your jokes won’t land in the same space they used to You go too high too low It doesn’t make a difference I know You go too high too low But the system won’t go I looked out at the throw Outside of my window Outside there wasn’t anything nice to see I wanted things to smell Like meadows not like hell Dying dandelions and bumble bees I looked out at the throw Outside of my window Outside there wasn’t anything nice to see I wanted things to smell Like meadows not like hell Dying dandelions and bumble bees

This track is a banger. Sleafords Mods are the best representation of the England I know - grim council estates, shit weather, betting shops, etc. No-frills art which cuts through all the bullshit. I think great music often emerges when the dominant styles/genres no longer match with reality. Ozzy Osbourne pointed out something similar when he talked about the birth of Sabbath - he was dirt poor at the time, without shoes even, and listening to "are you going to San Francisco with a flower in your hair" on the radio. For him, San Francisco may as well have been "Mars" as he looked around the depressing estate he was living on. Hence the birth of metal - i.e. as an antidote to "flower power" rock that meant nothing to most people. I just say this cos I read something similar in the way Jason talks about rock - clearly guitar based-rock has lacked any basis in social reality for some time now. Maybe Sleaford Mods are also a logical historical progression from punk - i.e. after punk has rejected guitar virtuosity in favour of a more primitive, direct approach to music-making, the next step is to throw the guitars away altogether.
@tvtitlechampion3238
You have a compelling argument about the nature of progression in music rising from cultural surroundings going. Maybe the next phase is a return to acoustic instruments ie pick the guitars back up, as we spiral through time towards the next unknown. Who knows what the next generation's children will adopt as 'cool'. Evolution=de-evolution=splitting the difference?

very cool music. Many greetings to the friends on the island who are not going through a great time. Suggest that the other Great Britains listen to your sound urgently, take a cold shower and get back on the Europa steamer. Ulrich from your beloved GERMANY
