Ahh Guilty Gear X2. When I first saw a trailer of this game, I couldn't believe my eyes. This was back in the day when 3D fighting games like Soul Calibur II, Tekken 4 and Virtua Fighter 4 were going strong. Yet this almost unknown 2D fighting game blew my teenage mind more than any of the aforementioned games. It was 2D, which at that time was considered old-school, almost outdated yet the effects were absolutely stunning. Played this game for hundreds of hours as a kid. I still get goosebumps just thinking about Justices Gamma Ray attack.

Yeah I remember a similar feeling when I loaded up a demo for GGX2. Not only did it look like an anime you could play, airdashing around and the whole pace of it made me wonder how such a game was possible lol. Nothing beats your first time witnessing this game

That was me with GGX on Dreamcast. I was so excited since it looked like a playable anime. I eventually got a CD burner back then and it was the first DC game I burned. I later got X2 #Reload on Xbox and played that one online quite a bit.

Imo, it's unfair that almost no one talks about how great was old XX announcer

I always found Slayers laugh at 0:21 hilarious. I always spammed that jumping slash attack to hear that laugh.

I like how simple the animations are, I kind of wish more fighting games stuck to that. When I see the animations in Blazblue you can almost feel the 3D model being used behind it all.

Blazblue doesnt use 3D models. It was the last of the 2D sprite generation.

@@hakumenx1 KoF XII/XIII used 3D models as a base for their sprites and I've heard BlazBlue used a similar technique for their sprites.

@@hakumenx1 Blazblue uses 3D models as the basis for the animations, that's why they're able to produce so many frames for each thing despite the spirtes being very detailed.

@@FaelivriHer existence is glitched, so she’s even more immortal than Slayer, and she can just walk it off. It’s a great deal for the two. They both live forever, and Slayer doesn’t have to get blood elsewhere.

I remember when I played a Guilty Gear game, I think it was Guilty Gear 2, and doing the Story Mode as Faust. At a certain point, Faust was forced to fight Slayer, and for reasons I cannot understand, this fight was impossible. All of his attacks did a nasty chunk of health, while Faust did very little. What's worst is that this one fight tricks you into thinking that you had to lose against Slayer due to how brutal he was. Nope. Instead, you either have to, somehow, beat Slayer within the time limit, or let the timer run out. Although with what I'm saying might be untrue, as I've never managed to beat Slayer, nor was I able to survive within the time limit to confirm my statement.

sounds exactly like super nagoriyuki in strive (took me 40 tries as a floor 10 chipp player). too bad theres no instakills to spam... thats how i went through most of XX singleplayer lmao

Ah the good ol cheap days. Some require them to beat gold opponents where they are in a very cheap mode. For eg, johnny's mist finer is nearly an instant kill. I doubt anyone has ever beaten them on the first try. I only manage to beat them on fluke instant kills.
