I know for a fact that Dave left during the Reign in Blood tour and came back to finish it, and normally he was asked up to rejoin the band again by Kerry himself after they were having problems with Tony. Here's an 1986 interview where Jeff and Tom say this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/k5x4srqwpqTTe7w.html There are some stories about slayer that I think re just legends, for exemple you can hear Gene Hogland telling that he showed Lombardo how to play double bass during the Haunting the Chapel sessions cause he was their drum tech, a thing that KKing does not remember neither Lombardo. He was around but never was the drum tech. (or maybe they have different notions of what a drum tech is)

My first Slayer album was "South of Heaven" (on cassette, for all my fellow old farts!). I remember thinking how slow the title track was, especially since I had read about how fast they played. I wondered if the entire album would be slow too. Well, once "Silent Scream" came on, all doubts about their speed were erased. For me, it's still one of their most brutal songs. Wish I could have seen it played live.

Saw them at Rock City, Nott'm on this tour, supported by Anthrax who were great fun. Found a spot in the middle of the floor where the thundering double bass kick made my whole rib cage vibrate. What an experience!! 🤙

I might have been there, 3 things I recall: 1) Not being able to hear a flaming thing for three days. 2) Not being able to look in any direction other than forward for a week. 3) Two HUGE crosses on stage with about a gigawatt of bulbs in them. I was in the circle and could feel the heat off them when the lighting guy flipped the switch, I swear the whole of Hammersmith had a brown out. I don't see the crosses here, maybe it was 87 or 89, it's all a but fuzzy.

Trapped in purgatory A lifeless object, alive Awaiting reprisal Death will be their acquittance The sky is turning red Return to power draws near Fall into me, the sky's crimson tears Abolish the rules made of stone Pierced from below, souls of my treacherous past Betrayed by many Now ornaments dripping above Awaiting the hour of reprisal Your time slips away Raining blood From a lacerated sky Bleeding its horror Creating my structure Now I shall reign in blood
