As an atheist my entire life, I've always been one to argue that a world that only follows science and reason would be far better than a world that only follows religious teachings but you've made a really good point that I'm embarrassed that I've never thought of before. A world that ONLY values science has the real potential to create countless other monsters like Mengele that are allowed to openly experiment on other living people for the advancement of science because morality isn't taught in science. I guess that I must've thought that all humans have a built in sense of morality without taking into account how important religion has been to teaching morality throughout history. While I'm still an atheist, you legitimately made me sit down and really think from a different perspective so thank you.

Something that's made up to control masses and still does in 2018.. It's just sad. I used to be agnostic. Live and let live kinda mentality. But in recent years, it's turned into atheism.

I'm sorry, but are you suggesting Mengele did what he did because his scientific morality was nowhere to be found ? How about he was a psychopath with no empathy development in brain whatsoever ? How about the fact that his post doctorate research paper was based on differentiating whites on bone structure, something which was used to great effect by Goebbels ? How about just plain 'racism' ? Would he have done those atrocities had the children not been 'jews' ? Science has no business being blamed for what he and others in his party did. His morality was nowhere to be found. Scientific or otherwise.

@ourworlds atwar Jeff Hanneman, like Lemmy Kilmister collected WW2 stuff and had an interest in what happened during the years 39-45. Just because somebody has an interest in Nazi memoribilia doesn't mean they are a Nazi. If we were to base this assumption on the song Angel of Death about Mengele we should assume that he also supported the mass experimentation and atrocities carried out by Unit 731 as the also touch on this on World Painted Blood.

The interesting thing about Slayer is they talk about stuff that actually scares people: war, terrorism, the holocaust, serial killers, etc. and they do it without death growls so even someone who doesn’t listen to metal can pick up the lyrics if they listen.

Love channel guys, it's difficult to find this type of in depth discussion about musical content, especially in metal. As much as I enjoy your breakdowns of lyrical themes, I think it sometimes comes at the cost of talking about the actual musical content as well. While the lyrical content of this song is definable worthy of discussion, the power of the music behind it just as important (in my opinion). Tom could have been singing about how much he loves hot pockets, but that kick drum break in the middle would have made this song an instant classic anyway. I certainly wouldn't advocate changing anything about your channel or your analysis of a song's lyrics and themes, but it would be cool to hear a bit more of your take on the music as well (as I have seen in some of your other videos). Keep up the great work guys!

the thing with this song, it's a giant middle finger to the deniers, it basically says "No, this is what happened, you can't ignore it. Never again". sadly, like Sori said, similar things just keep happening, and people turn the blind eye. Also I totally agree with the comparison you made with abortion, the same people that would call me a Nazi (because I am a Catholic Conservative), also support abortions up to 9 months, I find that to be very hypocritical.

I'm so glad to hear the balance between science and faith discussed. There were people in my church who would say they didn't ever get medical help for ANYTHING. It was something I could never reconcile with my own view. I totally agree, that wouldn't God want us to use the minds he gave us to use the resources we have to create these cures/science stuff. Just because we boil, mix, centrifuge the things that God created, it's still God's creation, right? How can this logical leap not be made as a Christian, if you really believe in the the Earth's creation according to the bible?

When I was a child in Poland, I remember this older lady who lived on the second floor whom I rarely saw outside - she had a tattooed number on her forearm. . . one of the lucky Auschwitz survivors. No one can tell me that "it didn't happen" when you see evidence like that. Japanese were just as bad if not worse during WWII when it comes to stuff like this - their infamous Unit 731 led by Shirō Ishii is one the most grotesque examples of that. There is a movie titled "Men behind the Sun" which is about Unit 731 - you can see the full movie on KZread here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/a6Omq8Z-mJDfpNI.html I must warn you though that this movie usually makes the top 10 list of the most disturbing movies ever made so it might not be something that you might be able to stomach. Here is a small scene from the movie - if you can't take it then perhaps you shouldn't see the entire movie: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qnqVmpOLf6_cedo.html Interesting point of history, Russians wanted to prosecute Shirō Ishii (the Surgeon General who led Unit 731) but United States granted him immunity because they felt that he had valuable medical research knowledge. . .knowledge which United States allegedly used to develop biological agents which then were tested on North Koreans during the Korean War. One question which Vin and Sori ask is how it happened. . . my understanding that in case of Jews in Germany it began with Jews not being allowed in the swimming pool. Considering this, when I see the likes of Maxine Waters calling on democrats to confront Trump Administration members and refuse them service ( time.com/5320865/maxine-waters-confront-trump-staffers-family-separation-policy/ ) and then as a result things like this happen: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h66V1aqRhpe9mtI.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/o3epqpijpJbMo5s.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKONu7qadsKvdag.html) then a cultural holocaust can certainly happen in USA. . . except that at this moment apparently the scapegoat will be the "White Christian Male".

So I just started watching your videos tonight. I was trying to see if anyone had done a mashup of two songs, and one of them was one you reacted to (Dig Up Her Bones by The Misfits). I'm not really a religious person, was kind of forced to grow up in the church, and got tired of it. You two make a great argument in this one. Skald!

Really in depth conversation. I enjoyed it. Here's a fact about the song: On the Studio Version, when the guitars would make that Wobbling sound, the guitarists were trying to emulate the screams of the suffering in Auschwitz.

One of the few songs that gives me chills every time. The lyrics alone depict historical atrocities in vivid detail. And the musicianship is pure adrenaline. This song is the equivalent to the book Night by Ellie Wiesel, and should also be apart of the curriculum. I’ve always loved history and WW 2 is such a pivotal moment in time, that we’re not far removed from. Genocide was never supposed to be allowed again, yet it continues without real repercussions... it’s fascinating that Germany tried to take over the world twice in half a century and was almost successful. Now look at them, they basically hold Europe’s economy together.

@Jeremy Look at North Korea and the tendencies world wide into nationalism. Germany is effectivly traumatized they are "war tired" the level of patriotism that is common in th US is unthinkable for them. And I think that's a wise stance not a weak one. So I rather fear other countries overflowing with patriotism thinking that their time has come because allt he bad migrants are taking away their ways....

There is nothing wrong with patriotism. Nationalism is the big problem. As soon as you start thinking that its your country and race against the world you can go down a dark path quickly.
