From playing 130+ decibels with every show i think he's gotten used to the constant battering of his hearing, but he's got the patience of a saint for letting axl scream ear-piercing shrieks directly into his ear with a microphone, and the amplifiers probably made the sound 5 times louder. I'm surprised he hasn't gone deaf in one or both ears...

I'd never heard Slash sing. He should try singing backing vocals to Axl, like Duff sometimes does. Background vocals often enhance a lead vocalist, add interest. But, it's hard to get goid guitarists to sing. They prefer to just make their guitar sing. Possibly because playing guitar at rock/metal virtuoso standard, like Slash does, as well as jumping around t h e stage, even with a pacemaker for his poor weak heart, take so much intense concentration. Especially dealing with emotionally erratic Bipolar guys, like Axl whose every move you need to anticipate and try to fit in with, as a musician. You never know what they'll do next... Like throw microphones, dive into the audience, threaten to go home, abuse you one minute, be a over you lije a rash the next, scream in your ear while you're trying to remember the right chords to play, in a drunken, stoned haze... Takes great artistic skill, concentration centre and, like Axl sings 'a little patience', though I suspect it might take a whole lot more patience..

They aren't friends cause they are in a band, they're in a band cause they're friends, best friends BEST DUO IN THE ROCK HISTORY

i feel exactly the same way! appetite was released when i was early 10 y.o. of course that means that live like a suicide was released when i was 8 or 9. it bums me out too. i think i was born in the wrong decade. seriously. i would have been wearing a halter top and leather pants or skirts at their shows. rockin out big time. but yeah, they used to always try to pit them against each other and it caused probs. i look at it like this - in a band you are more like family than friends all the time. you still love each other and are really close but you can spat and it is no big deal. you just move on.

These two were larger than life and were too much for one band. If they had learned to get along, Guns and Roses would have been bigger than all artists put together. Axl's raw energy and voice, and Slash's charisma and guitar intoxicated the world but they were too young to steer all that in the right direction. I am glad they know better now. I wish them peace and happiness.

When people genuinely love each other but one is Bipolar, which typically results in very stormy relationships and needing to part ways, it often cuts them up emotionally, especially the emotional Bipolars prone to erratic, impulsive behaviour, saying/%doing things they later love to regret when friends and lovers simply can't take any more of their antics etc and just need to walk away, to retain their own sanity. Not easy people to be forced to be constantly hanging with eg marriages, bands, work places. But so.e exceptional people can make these troubled relationships work to their mutual advantage, like this pair. But it does ta6ke 'patience'. A whole heap of patience and some I have met in such relationships conclude it's just not worth the trouble even trying. However, if there is money, fame, power, convenience etc involved,they usually find a way to make it work. It has nothing to do with true love or even true friendship, but it does work, creates a degrees on stability and meets their other mutual needs. So, in that sense, I think such relation ships are perfectly OK. At least they are honest about it. Unlike alm the dishonesty, using, deception that goes on between people professing to love each other eg in marriages, as 'best???' same gender 'friends???' Etc, who then cheat on each, betray trust etc. Hardly worth the bot h er of knowing such people. Better off alone, in peaceful, happy, emotional hassles free solitude. Just cool, detached....
