Matt, I have never, ever, thought that your salt was directed at your opponent. Every one of you guys have your moments, from being beaten down to being salty to being just overly lucky. The games entertaining and I think everyone conducts themselves very well!

When I see them apologize for being salty, I just think "you guys most not have siblings if you think that's salty". :) I mean, they do have an expectation of professionalism, but it is still a game, so getting emotionally invested is part of the fun.

Matt, When you guys invest yourselves in the game (ie being Salty) it makes it a lot more enjoyable to watch. I haven't seen anything offensive in your guys videos as a vault member and I think all of you guys handled yourselves really well when the MWG team make videos.

I enjoyed the salt and cackle, It's part of the fun and that's how you two interact and makes it interesting.

Star Drakes normally shine against hordes where they can swallow banners and support pieces in a unit; plus their ability to bounce mortal wounds back with save rolls.

One of the local tournaments I was at earlier this year had two Archaon's Slayer of Kings each other. Was freaking hilarious.

I wish the Celestial Lions and the bears from the armor markings from the first book could also be used, the bestiary from Azyr is so cool! I miss wolves too.

Hey. Just watched this battle after the last one where Matt was StD. You guys built such a fun, compelling meta-narrative for these two that I couldn’t resist watching both. Top work, boys 👍

I love seeing games like this. I know that they aren't competitive but it's nice seeing new things it's always the same armies and lists for the most part so it was nice to see.

Matt being salty is ok, It happens to the best of us. Also it is very funny

Salt in good fun is awesome. It shows you care about the game, and its not like anyone takes it personal

let the salt flow through you, my dude. a dice game practically farms salt, and you're allowed to be disappointed at the way the dice fell and the way your models performed. it's good that you know that you run at a high salt level naturally, but don't worry about it, we all know how you feel.

The discussion from matt at the start of this video is so. god. damn. GOOD!,WOW! I can't imagine what it's like to have alot of people on the internet criticize you, but the fact that he read the comments, understood what people were having problems with, and had a honest & friendly reponse to it is amazing , I honestly haven't seen that from any other content creator out there (in any form of media) I wish I could handle critcism that well & be that open minded, something to strive towards.

I think it was awesome. People showed up in a big way in the last video comment section and told him straight up they weren't having fun watching him, and why. He swallowed it and responded appropriately and I have a great deal of respect for that. It's just business, after all.

We love you Matt, I think salt makes these vid funny.

You have to hand it to Miniwargaming, at least they actually pay attention to the comments and act upon it. 👍👍..although I will say, I hate when KZreadrs feel they "need" to change their behaviour just because of comments they got on other videos, just be yourself. :)

I really like my lord celestant buffed by my Castellan. I always build armies around a centerpiece model though.

Lots of people saying don't worry about the salt which is nice. But I'm not going to lie I don't enjoy watching super salty batreps. That being said I do understand that everyone has a bad game, maybe your day was frustrating, maybe your dice ain't so hot, maybe your opponent brought Gotrek... It happens. It's not gonna stop me watching your guys stuff and I do think it was big of you to acknowledge it rather than just ignoring the comment section like so many people do so props for that. As long as the salt doesn't flow TOO much it's nothing to worry about ^^ Thanks for the content fella's, keep having fun with it. Edit: I'm not salty yaay... - Matt 2020 :D shame man that was a hammering. Even though neither list was competitive I think its clear one was LESS competitive ^^ I do love the Stardrake model. Oh boy I’m gonna enjoy this battle report. I started collecting and painting warhammer earlier this year. I have 2000 point SC and StD armies for AoS and a 2000 point Death Guard army. My wife thinks I have gone overboard with my new hobby.

I really like this kind of Archaon list. Its not top tier but not week at all eighter. And its really fun.

Talking about list building got me thinking. What if you were to build grand alliance lists only using the start collecting boxes? See how powerful a list you can make if you only bought a few start collecting boxes.

Don’t worry about being salty it happens and it’s fine you didn’t go overboard. I really enjoy watching battle reports with Stormcast Eternals the most since that’s the faction I play. I have heard that there are some lists with stardrakes that can be good (from what I can tell they look like they would be good). I haven’t tried them out but I may try them out one day. Even if they do suck I do want a stardrake.

No need to apologize whatsoever!! I never saw any of the salt as something directed at anyone at all and for me I find it to really add personality to the batt reps. You keep doing you and keep up your amazing work!

Fun game, but picking up a random grab bag of models and slapping them on the table is never a wonderful way to forge a course for victory! The even small amount of synergy between big boy Archie and the Horseys of Doom rocketed it up the power level compared to the SCE list. If you took a shootcast list, Matt, I think you'd've put up a decent fight, or even just leaned fully into vanguard with the right stormhost.

I agree about the war shrine, BUT I can’t think of very many lists that his Stormcast list could beat.

You didn't have to apologise: I've watched enough of these (admittedly not the video referred to here yet though...) to see that you almost always shrug off bad rolls :) Side note: any of you guys have a Daughters of Khaine army? No pressure; just interested to see what they're like.

I’m a bit new to AoS but don’t units fire all of the ranged weapons they’re equipped with during the shooting phase? It may make those palladors a bit better for you to use their pistols as well

With all the effort we put into our lists, and the work we put into our armies. We want to see them do well, and no matter how good your list is, the day comes when it all goes pear shaped. Some armies get that more than others cough, *STDs, and Beasts of Chaos* cough. So getting a little salty and disappointed is normal, but at the end of the day shaking hands, saying GG, and remembering next time your opponent could have the bad game. Remember that and it's all good. So game on as you are Matt.

Archaon and varanguard have done a lot of work for me, you just need to supplement them a bit

The current serious Stormcast list is very shooting heavy. Built around Vanguard Raptors with the Longstrikes shooting as often as possible. Often out of Anvils of the Heldenhammer for hero phase shooting. It can be fun but is often a bit binary, able to blast the enemy critical poeces away with shooting and it wins or...it can't and it loses.

Really digging the poking and prodding. Way better than the nihilism that sometimes infects other pairs’ games.

Another small correction. Triumph is failed wound rolls rerolled. Not wound rolls rerolled. No fishing for 6's

I think an important thing to note is just how much chaff Matt had. He was playing a bad 1000pt army against a 2000pt army

Ya he left all his blocking pieces off the board... like bring the dragons but you have to give them time for the massive variance in their ability to equal out.

This is a very good example of old book vs. new book. Powercreep in AOS is real and since Stormcast got their book really early in this edition, they're in a rough place. Slaves is a relatively new battletome. And even though Josh' list certainly hit the point of being a "fun" list, it's still miles ahead of a "fun" stormcast list. Here's hoping the golden boys get a new book soon :)

Small correction. Archaon kills models on 2 unmodified 6's. (around 36:00 mark)

Fair play for being man enough to apologise for the salt. Gotta say, I found it funny personally. When my club plays, we can actually fear for our physical safety. Adds to the excitement!

Props to you matt. It takes some self awareness and maturity to own your own stuff like that. Never thought you were unreasonable myself but I get that some may have seen it that way. For the record you and josh playing together is top tier content for MWG (alongside Luka and Steve for pure shenaningans) :)

I appreciate the apology for those that wanted it, but I wasn't fazed by it. Some games just bring that out in you. It also would have been different had it been a guest or someone that was taking it badly, but Josh just seemed to take it in stride. :) I am not sure this was the best re-match as the Ogor list was so strong with all the Monsters and MW potential, but it is nice to see something different being played! I do wonder what would have happened with a solid SC army.

I mean your list was NOT good, but I’d love to see an SCE list that is focused on survivability. Bring Sequitors, castellant, arcanum, knight Incantor, Evocators on Dracolines, etc.

The war shrine and dropping one unit of Varanguard is a step in the right direction. That prayer of the undivided is a nice way to get Daemonic Power onto Archaon or an Varanguard. If you really want the list to do good, then it really needs either mark of Nurgle with a Harbinger or mark of Slaanesh and a Contorted Epitome. If it was Stormcast, try taking Spite Tongue Curse on Archaon, literally the most safe way to cast that spell.

Just played a game with this army and list and stomped my opponent who was playing Teclis with the Lumineth and was playing very well. Archaon did great, Varanguard killed Teclis like it was nothing. And Chaos Warriors controlled objectives by bodies. Not double turn, just good models in a good army playing a good game.

Such a better game than the raiders vs chaos game. Very interesting lists and it is nice seeing these units. I agree with Matt though that those stormcast were subpar.

Am I missing something? He said on a 4+ he gets a command point and he rolled a 2 but still got it?

Matt you and Dave have good personality and that's why I started watching a decade ago. If you're not salty I ain't interested haha.

That was definitely a bad SCE list, especially so against the list you played against lol.

I think in reality the main difference was that Matt went all in on killing an incredibly resilient model in the frostlord, and when that failed the army was neutered. Whereas Josh got a big advantage already by killing a lot more

I thought the last battle report was great! Also, I wouldn't mind seeing the occasional super competitive game. Meaning you guys use very competitive lists and try your best to win. I'm sure those games aren't as entertaining as the normal ones, but it's rare to find high quality BatReps of a competitive nature and I would sure like to see some.

Warshrine is absolutely pivotal in most Slaves to Darkness lists I find. Reroll -everything-? Sure it’s a 3+ but the enemy can’t stop it. Also it’s not that bad in combat. Not great, but it can spike out some damage.

You're not required to reveal the result of a Dark Prophecy roll. It says "you can reveal the result" not "you must" otherwise it's basically a different type of roll off, except it costs one side a command point. You could've just rolled off for it.

Mmm mmm mm. I can taste the salt from here. In all seriousness, as long as the salt and cackles are not mean-spirited, and everyone is having a good time, I'm ok with it.

Anyone can be salty playing a game, however it all depends on where that is directed. Everyone gets salty in games, doesn't matter how chill you want to think you are everyone gets that way, it's called being human. Wanna rage at the dice? do it! wanna rage and the mistake you made? do it, just want to rage at the fact the unit you took sucks? no one can blame you but you for taking it. But you don't have to apologize for playing a game and getting frustrated as long as it isn't over the top OR at the other player, other than that it's just life.

So this just proves what I said after the last game, that the Veringuard hit like freight trains. What I saw is that josh got great armor saves during last game and when he played his Mawtribe. They are just insanely good with all the mortal wounds they did. I also think those star drakes are great. Once again dice rolls killed Matt. This proves what. It’s a dice game and this chaos list is good. Sorry Matt, but saying everything is bad if you lose isn’t really a good argument 🤪 Ohh and Khorne all the way All that being said. I wish you guys would take a look at warcaster from privateer press. It’s a great game.

Hard not to agree with Matt on the Archaon/Varanguard analysis. Archie's other lists (Nurgle 1 drop battallion, slaanesh, Blades of Khorne) are much better balanced, and still hit hard as a rock

I really prefer when people use terrain as blocked-areas "Everything inside these 4 walls" rather than the actual clumps of trees or specific building walls. That way you avoid the dumb effect of everyone staying 1" away from all terrain pieces.

I like seeing a friendly bit of shade being thrown. Matt getting 'upset' is actually pretty damn funny to watch, especially when something bad happens straight after calming down lol I can't count how many times I've laughed and laughed at Steve 'crying' whilst leaving the room ^^ Tbh, what I find annoying is the whole 'I'm gonna lose' 'no I'm gonna lose' style. I don't want anyone being mean, but I'd rather watch some fake bravado with humour, than two people saying they're gonna lose and it's a miracle they won. Humble is fine, but too much is annoying I guess. Anyway, your reactions are hilarious mate, keep being 'salty' ^^

While I remember. a Wimp list against a Legacy list.

For one, i have to give it to MWG. All my life I've read it as "EnSCROLLED" weapons, when its actually "enSORCELLED"

Winds etheric is a set up not a move and on any set up (outside of pre-game deployment) stormcast get Scions of the Storm. Just saying.

If you can't harp on yourself or your own dice rolls, you take away half the fun of a friendly game. Matt, you be as salty as you want, and hit record and catch Josh unwares and expose that false "nice guy" we see in all these reports. lol Keep it fun and keep gaming!
