I broke my backbone in 5 places while skiing. I also left the hospital two days later. The breaks were only partial fractures and were still there when I left. My grandma said I had a guardian angel, I said he was doing a shit job cause I hit a tree and was saved by ski patrol.

my sister, a devout Catholic, prayed for 4 years that God help her with the cancer in her back, and with the accompanying pain. Her husband and son, also devout Catholics, prayed as well. Many of my sister's and brother-in-law's friends and extended family prayed for her. She asked me several times, knowing I was a skeptic, to pray for her. I did so, because she wanted me to. She also suffered through all the difficult procedures the medical community could muster. She died last February. So, Paul from MI, why did your back-healing God help you, but not her, or countless others whose prayers have gone unanswered?

People often forget this: Deuteronomy 20 "10 When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. 11 If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to FORCED LABOR and shall work for you. 12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. 15 This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby. 16 However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy[a] them-the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites-as the Lord your God has commanded you." If slaves were hired poor servants, why would "forced labor" be mentioned. Also, it says all people, meaning children, will be slaves.

@@raysalmon6566 Not exactly. The existence of "Your God" is tied to the biblical Jesus not the historical Jesus. The historical Jesus isn't tied to the biblical account as such as one proves the other. The biblical Jesus is tied to the Historical Jesus. An connection that remains unverified. The biblical Jesus isn't confirmed by Jesus but by justifying that the miracles happened. You have to prove the miracles beyond hearsay to prove that the Historical Jesus and the Biblical Jesus is one and the same. With Jesus alone you can't get there. Without the miracles, You do not have anything on which to get to the point that would get you to God or that Jesus was God. P.s. As mentioned in the video aswell, Jesus owned Gospel signed in blood wouldn't qualify any of it as true.

But I've also broken bones where the break in a handbone was so tiny that it wasn't even visible to me on the X-ray ... it was just the tiniest slit in the bone. The doctor did hardly anything about that ... he just fixed the fingers to each other, and off I was, and it healed on its own and all is good today. I'd love to hear if his back was literally broken over into 6 pieces ... or if there were just a couple of the tiniest slits here and there.

5 years ago my brother began having heart issues. the doctors implanted a pace maker, and he was doing as well as could be expected, until the covid pandemic was in its infancy in 2020. my brother was an early victim. he contracted covid and with his weakened heart, he passed at the relatively early age of 60. despite the many relatives and friends and supposedly all of their church memberships praying for his health and recovery. fast forward to a little less than a year later. i had c ovid and i never felt as awful as i felt for that week until i started to recover. fortunately i was and still am in good health, and my immune system is strong. but when i did recover and could leave my bedroom, and return to the normalcy of a masked life, my mom told me "you see, prayer works". out of respect for my mom, i bit my tongue. but it pissed me off that she gave her god credit for saving her atheist son, while her god let her christian son suffer with his weakened heart and eventually suffered through covid until he passed. now, my wife and i having been trying to have a baby but for reasons that do not need to be mentioned, our doctor told us that it is highly unlikely that my wife would be able to become pregnant naturally. (the fun way) so we are going through IVF. when we had our first attempt, the embryo was implanted and the doctor told us later that my wife was "definitely pregnant." we got tons of "oh i was praying for you" messages from both sides of our family and friends. unfortunately, her body did not recognize the new hormones and rejected them, making it imposible for the embryo to survive. at least thats how i understood it, i may have misunderstood the doctor's explanation. but long story short, (too late), our friends and family were soon inundating us with "oh, we are praying for you" messages. it literally pissed me off that these people gave their god credit for the doctors' and nurses' work and then after receiving the great news, we soon received the bad news, we were supposed to be comforted that they were asking this same piece of crap for whatever they wer praying for the second time? it baffles me that if this christian god does exist, that people can think it is any good at all

The best part, to me, is that whenever this argument is made, they are ultimately citing nothing but divine command or essentially, "might-makes-right". All they have is, "something is wrong or right because God says so." If that's the case, they don't care if the action in question results in harm, suffering, misery, joy, well-being, or anything else (as relative to our experience as conscious beings that can feel pain, suffer loss, die, etc). If they DO care about any of that, they refute their own argument that we atheists can't base our morality on anything. There is literally no basis for morality in their argument other than "God said so", and it doesn't matter why he (supposedly) said it. If someone's definition of morality has nothing to do with pain, suffering, thriving, well-being etc, then I don't give a shit about that definition. They will of course always retreat to "well, God's morality is not arbitrary, because his nature is goodness, so he always defines morality based on that." But if that's the case then we *are* basing the definition of morality on whether an action causes harm, right? They can't have it both ways! Either this God bases morality on whether something causes harm, or his proclamations of morality are completely arbitrary. And we can tell what causes harm or doesn't. It can get complicated and difficult (we call those ethical or moral dilemmas), but there is at least a basis for evaluating actions, from our position. In fact, as the ones with "standing" (to use a legal term) in the question of human behavior (since such behaviors have effects upon us), we are better suited to evaluate human morality than an immortal all-powerful being would be.

An abused employee still has rights, it's no one property, gets paid (even if underpaid), he has the choice to quit and he doesn't get beaten. For the sake of clarity, I have no interest in defending the pieces of shit that hire employees to exploit them into doing 10 hours of work for minimum wage but saying that it's slavery it's total bullshit, because it isn't. It's immoral but it's not slavery, nor a customer is to blame morally if someone at McDonald's has to work for 10 hours at minimum wage. Because people don't want to be irrelevant. They want their existence to have meaning. They want to know that death is not the end for someone as important in the scheme of things as themselves. lots of people try desperately to justify why we are important beyond the human connection. It's why they made up gods. It's why they invent "objective" moral systems. None of it stands up to any kind of critical scrutiny though. It terrifies them to know that someday our species will be extinct, as species do, and no one or no thing will care.

I was a counselor at church camp, in the praise and worship youth band, and I was going to go to school to be a youth pastor. I was all in on Christianity. But as I got older I started to ask questions that no one could answer in a satisfactory way, so I started looking other places for answers. Once I started to see how little of Christianity actually made sense, I became more of a theist or agnostic. Eventually I decided that until I'm presented with some kind of evidence, I have no real reason to believe (because faith in books written with second hand accounts decades after the actual events took place does not cut it for me). So instead of trying to attack me for apparently "pretending" to be a Christian since I was like 5 years old, maybe you should come up with some real, tangible evidence that God exists.

He probably has a ‘crumbling spine’ which causes spinal fractures and whilst this can be very painful and require surgery, often the treatment is pain relief and encouragement to keep moving whilst the fractures heal. It’s very common (more so in women who are more prone to osteoporosis) and his ability to walk out of hospital two days later is very definitely NOT a miracle.
