I'm glad you mentioned that slavery dates all the way back to antiquity so people don't come up to conclusions that slavery is a recent concept when it isn't.

No one thinks slavery it's a recent concept. LOL. People discuss slavery in the US as recent history because it is. It's also had repercussions that extended up until the Civil Rights movement during the 1950-60s. There are many people alive today who experienced things like segregation ("whites only" or "colored only"). That's why we discuss slavery in terms of our recent history.

Slavery is still going on in other countries TODAY. tell me that today isn't recent? Also, American slavery ended roughly 150 years ago, which is pretty recent. That's only like, 6-8 generations ago

It is recent. Slavery was still going on in Mississippi in the 1960’s. Google it.

There were 47 enslaved individuals that attempted to escape to freedom. We've highlighted those stories on our website: www.mountvernon.org/george-washington/slavery/resistance-and-punishment/

Regardless of the era, such a despicable and evil practice can never be defended. They were enslaved Africans, not slaves.

I agree to a point. Slavery in the US was "chattel slavery", they were seen as subhuman animals and treated as such. However, throughout most of history "slaves" generally weren't seen in they way. There were more humane laws in regards to their treatment and how they could become free. Something changed in the Americas making it much more horrible in general.

2:30 there are 640 acres in a square mile. Owning 8,000 acres would be equal to owning 12.5 sq. miles. Damn!

Did the slaves ever smoke the tabacco that they slaved over? Did they get to eat & drink the food they harvested? Did they ever receive proper medical care if they needed it?

My best guess was yes. It was quite beneficial to the owners to take care of their slaves. They produced a lot aka adding value.

From what I've read slaves were allotted certain rations each week or month and allowed to farm small plots of land for their own use. They also got basic care when needed, when serious if their own people couldn't help. The owners saw them as property and an investment to buy and sell so keeping them healthy enough to work and possibly be sold off was important.

cont'd...THere's also, the matter that the White Eur. were the FIRST to end chattel slavery & make it stick. All other countries the White had colonized & been kicked out of, regressed back to slavery : Africa -( Black vs. Black) the Mideast - even India, etc. Also, in these countries, Human Rights was removed..Why don't the Black People, mention this?

How did you practice slavery after knowing the gospel of Jesus Christ? By apostasy or by hypocrisy?

No, there's no way they could have done something similar. Assuming you're talking about the Slave Revolt in Haiti. There were like 400,000 slaves on the island and only 40,000 whites and the land area is tiny compaired to the US. They also had help from the British. Something like 200,000 slaves were killed too. Those who revolted in the US were tortured and often killed or sold off away from their family and friends. There's just no way the slaves in the USA could have organised a revolt large enough to make a difference.
