I run 5 lbs on Tubliss on the VE33S. 60 hrs on them riding CO, UT, ID. Won't change them until I rip one of the lugs, still good tread on them. They are all cracking at the base but not one has ripped off yet. Great tire.
All three of these tires are absolutely outstanding. I personally run the 505 Cheater in Colorado. For the price, it's just awesome.
arena hybrid is working amazing and i will be buying that tire again once mine wears.
I don’t know about you guys but this is like eye candy, the only thing missing is the smell of the fresh rubber! 😎😎👍🏼👍🏼

My next rear tire will be a motoz. I've been running on my stock geomax mx52 tires that came on my yz250, aired down to 11F and 9R with stock tubes, they been doing awesome. I almost never slip or spin out on rock. And the rear is a 19 inch rim still. Either way it's about having funn.
I have a shinko 505 cheater on my kdx 200. Here in north west Georgia the tire performs great! I run 10-12 pounds with a heavy tube. 90 % of our riding is on tight single track and this tire is hard to beat. I bought this tire based on your recommendation and your test video. Thanks,
Trail ambassador, very well put, and thank you so much for your amazing information as always!!!

i agree they are a great tire and last a reasonable amount of time, they hook up amazing when new
Motoz w super soft mousse equals best combo for me after 12 different tires and mousse and tubliss. Tested all top tires... golden Michelin irc shinko... it corners and brakes best... as long as super soft mousse grips as well as any... deep enough lugs for mechanical hill climb traction... lasts longer than any gummies I’ve tried... however with tubliss I got a cut same spot he showed in video running 5 psi.
Maybe a good idea to put links to your social media pages in the video description. :)
I use to run Motoz on the rear of my CRF 450 for Motocross, Brilliant Tyre, especially in the Loam, and mud, but has a slightly more aggressive tread pattern, so not so good on the Hard pack, especially if the tyre was getting older and worn and the Hard baked Track had just been watered. But then again what tyre is good under those conditions.
I started to use the new Michelin Enduro Medium in the rear last summer and they are great, insane traction very much like the famous GT216X, and wear is not that bad for this kind of tire. This year I just installed a front fatty one and it is very great too, give good confidences whit is precise handling, less arm fatigue in rocks, kind of 'smooth the things off'. I can't tell for the wear for this one, lets see in couple of weeks. Rear at 8psi while front at 12 with both UHD Michelin tube. Pretty much 'poncture free'!!

What size do you run with these tires? Benefits for hard enduro? Mx channels seem to keep to 110 or 100 for track... graham jarvis I think uses 140 with moose foam. No one for hard enduro has talked rear tire sizing options that I can find.
Great video! I personally have run the 505 and loved the traction. Durability was good but I did not like the braking at all. I also ran the Motoz and the durability was the best although of the gummys I've tried. Although I thought the 505 and Ibex had a little better drive. Interestingly I did puncture the bead at around 4 psi. I've run 3 Ibex tires and like those the best for the money. They don't last as long as the MotoZ but its $30 cheaper. I can get around 500 miles out of them yet other people can shred them in 50 so go figure. I have an AT81EX to try next.

Did you ever try the at81ex?
Excellent video. I run the cheater because of the excellent traction and price.
That the 505 Cheater is the lightest carcass of the 3 is almost unbelievable. Its a tank. Super thick sidewall
Have you tried the Mitas Co2 Stoneking? I ride enduro and greenlanes in the uk. I love the tyre but im debating switching to motoz tractionator enduro rear... id love to know where people rate the mitas though!
Been loving the MotoZ Arena Hybrid on my Beta 450RR, they last forever. Just installed the IRC VE-33S on my 250i for 100 miles they have GREAT traction in the Sierra-Nevada mountains. I’m gonna try the Arena Hybrid on the 250i next.
I've never tried the IRC, but have tried the MOTO Z in the past (and I remember liking it). The Shinko 505 however, is the best tire I have ever had. We ride rocky mountain sharp rocks & roots, tight stuff requiring low gearing & hillclimbs on scree slopes and old mine tailing piles. I have 2 YEARS on my current 505!! Mind you we only ride 6 months a year here but that's about 250 hours including 4 races on this tire. I run Tubliss and used to go through about 4 tires a year..

good vid Thanks, what about front?
The IRC VE33s is a very predictable rear tire that works great on all conditions and really performs on the dry and harder terrain. The tire was still working great when I replaced it w a total of 720 miles on it . I’m not going to try anymore rear tires for now. The 33s is the go to rear tire for me .
Any good 140/80x18" tires? I'm still running an IRC intermediate
thanks Jeff!
I've had three of the motz hybrid gummys. All three of them would on occasion give the sensation of a flat. The first time it happened I actually started to head for the truck then stopped to look and it wasn't flat. I was running 11 to 12 psi. Aside from that I really liked them. I'm currently running the 505 shinko. So far I love that tire. It's a big carcass which seems to aid in smoothing out the ride. I'm running 10 psi. To be fair though I haven't ridden in mud with it yet.
Great video! I'm not sure I got which you recommended for mud terrain or if you did. Which is best for mud? Thanks !

The Maxxis Maxxcross IT would be more suitable. It's not a gummy tire, but in my opinion gets good traction in all terrain and wears well.

Hi Jeff. I know this is a very subjective question but do you think the MotoZ would be too much tire for a TE125? I have a Shinko 525 cheater with tubliss on it now and no one makes a 100/100 18 which is the recommended tire size for a 125. Thanks for the video. Cheers.....
@slaverace1
5 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't be my choice for a 125/150. It's too big/heavy and will zap HP from your little buzz bomb. The 505 Cheater is slightly undersized and lighter and would work better.
Ive been swapping between 3 tyres 120 size with Tubliss. Golden tyres 333, 323 & Shinko 505 cheater, the GT's are great all round with the 323 leaning to mud/ soft, and are a harder rubber. The Shinko is gummy but won't wear out and grips like S#@t to a blanket! The GT's wear at a normal rate.
Is that IRC on backwards? Looks like it would work better flipped.
Wheres the Sadona MX907 at? Thats by far the best!
I bought the ve33s and loved its performance but the lugs cracked at the base prematurely. I'm running low pressure with ultra heavy tubes. Have you had this issue?? I purchased them from slavens and would again but I buy the motoz arena hybrid gummy now I feel it is superior.

Yes, the knobs crack at the base with low pressure but it is not a problem with tubes or mousses. With TUbliss a sealant must be added.

Hi Jeff, I purchased a Motoz Arena Hybrid from you folks a while back. While I love it, I find that if I run a psi lower than 10, the rear end bounces all over the place. I'm riding a KTM 200. Could it be an issue with the large/wide center knobs or possibly the carcas? I'd like to run 6-8 in the rear so perhaps I should choose a different tire?
@slaverace1
3 жыл бұрын
Hello: Thank you for the purchase. Your comment is confusing because more air = more air spring and more bounce, not less. That tire is big for a 200 but that is not the issue. Sounds like a shock issue. Shocks should be serviced every 50-60 hours and I suspect yours might be well beyond that service limit.
@daddister7471
3 жыл бұрын
@@slaverace1 Thanks for the speedy response! I've tried a bunch of different compression and rebound settings and also have my suspension serviced every 50-60 as recommended. The suspension has been set up for my weight and riding style as well. I was previously running a Maxxis Maxxcross IT with pressues in the 6-10psi range and never experienced this bouncing issue. I know it sounds strange and I can't say I've ever had the same issue with any other tire on any other bike. Less air has always meant less bounce. As long as I'm running at least 10psi the Motoz has been fantastic and wears quite well.
I really like the kenda equilibrium at about 5 psi.

Mr. Slavens, thanks for the vid. I know this is an older video, but I hope you still review your vids because I have question. Which of the three has the shortest profile (sidewall)? I currently have the 505 (120/18) Cheater and it is a great tire for traction, but due to its tall sidewall it has made the bike a little on the tall side. I believe what you said about how it can affect handling is true, because I believe it is stink-bugging the bike which maybe causing it to knifing into corners. My sag is on the money, the springs are set for my weight, Golden Tyer Fatty up front, forks second line down on the triple clamps, and the stock suspension is set to middle of the road per the manual. Thanks in advance Sir.
@slaverace1
4 жыл бұрын
I disagree that your sag is "on the money". Sag numbers are nothing more than a starting point and nothing but numbers. If your sag was perfect you wouldn't be complaining about how it steers. The entire point of sag is to make the bike handle correctly by having correct balance. When you installed the tall 505 it made the bike out of balance and you should increase the sag to correct the balance.

Jeff Slavens , ok cool. That makes sense. BTW I appreciate the reply👍. I will adjust it and test. You got a new customer.

Sag is only part of the steering equation. If you forks are off that will also cause your steering to be bad. I get my sag right so the rear feels good and use the fork height to get the steering the way I like. Fork height makes a ton of difference.
@ml5955

@@kyl3dr thanks for the input my friend. I got a 110 tire with a much smaller diameter, and the bike handles much better ( the uneasiness in corners have been pretty much negated).
