THIS is why rap was created. This is what made it popular. Real bars, real talk. Not a stage persona glorifying the problems or keeping people down it's the exact opposite of the genre's purpose. Not spiting the entire track bragging about commercial bullshit. This is what rappers should be doing on the tracks, addressing their fans or talking about real shit. Death is something that everyone goes through. A song is supposed to relate to you or leave you thinking. It's supposed to move you and I don't mean on the dance floor. It's lyrical expression for the sake of the people and not for the sake of money. I hope these guys make it far in the game cause damn... we need more of this.

Damien Waithe Yeah... I'd say to myself I'm just being a cynical old man shaking his fist at the youth? But I'm 25... it's not my generation of music sure but damn. Rock had at least a good 40 or 50 years of being awesome. Rap... 20 years. If that. Why make music for fans, giving them an important message or giving them something to think about? Why appeal to fans when you can appeal to clothing, liquor and jewelry products. And you run out of shit to say about those things just say ass ass ass ass ass ass over and over. Maybe even make a song about how much money you have or how cool you think you are. That's easy right? Underground you're all I have left.

The verse about his gramma dying really hit home for me. Got a call on my b-day that my Idol, the most important man in my life (my grandfather) took a turn for the worse. I immediately left work and drove the 600 miles overnight to say goodbye. He died within a few hours of me getting there. It tore my heart out holding his hand as he took his last breath in his bed. I've lost loved ones before but this one was really tough on me. My birthdays are filled with pain and hurt. Exactly a few years to the day later on the 31st my wife's dad passed away too, unexpectedly at the age of 51. It's a rough month for both of us.

This is some deep stuff. It makes you feel a certain emotion. When each one of them raps you can actually tell they're trying to let you feel what they felt and that's what MUSIC is. Not about having sex on the dance floor or some shit like that. This is amazing and talented work. :)

Then God intervened, guess more was at stake Thought we left nothing over, he put more on the plate She came home from the doctor with news I've been wanting Says family was incoming, she's pregnant, twins coming But that's gotta be a lie She sighed, couldn't stop the tears coming from her eyes That birth control she on, for them it's suicide As long as it's still inside, two of them wouldn't survive Hard turn from memorable to cynical Picturing clothes for what would've been identical Similar outfits, similar names My deceased kids' ultrasound in a frame So I'm deprived of my chance to be a better dad Staring at my twins that I never had I shed a tear, looking up in the sky Even though y'all just got here, goodbye - Joe Budden And that's why Joey is my favorite from Slaughterhouse.

Dear auntie I still feel your timeless sorrow Before you died it's like your body was mine to borrow Like I jumped in your physical shell While you was going through miserable hell saying goodbye to tomorrow Everyday it make me sad, angry, mad how you were sent to heaven's sacred path Duct taped and gagged plus raped and stabbed body draped in blood what a faith to have Such a pitiful end I'm popping Ritalin like they skittles cause When I sleep I can feel it again and again and again it's difficult Killing is the wickedest biblical sin I'm talking about momma's identical twin I see your face when I look at her Her reminder of how I've been in the cold Since 14 years old Swear to GOD I'll probably be in heaven when the pain stops Til then all I'm hearing is wind and raindrops. That's why crooked i is my favorite from slaughterhouse.

Mark Davis I'm confused by your comment. It seems you're saying that Crooked sucks and that only people from the gutter would listen to him. I like Crooked I a lot and I'm white. I just think Joe Budden is the best when it comes to these type of songs. Hell, he has Mood Muzik mixtapes that are filled with this kinda shit and that's where he shines.

I have been following Crooked I and Joe Budden since the beginning. What I am saying is there are certain things Crooked I refers to that you wouldn't understand unless you'd been through the actual situation and the situations he refers to are often experienced by people who are or have lived in the gutter. Especially the West Coast.

For everyone bitching about Em not laying a verse in this, it's because he didn't want to make a sad song about Proof. He made "You're Never Over" and it's a really upbeat song, he even says, "instead of mourning your death, I'd rather celebrate your life," Clearly he didn't want to get depressed about Proof because Proof helped him get off depression and he knows that he wants Proof to be happy. He says "The best thing I could do for you is to rap" which is on his Recovery album, rightfully named. He knew that Proof would want him to continue his career, rather than throwing it away with depression. That's why he never made a sad song like this about proof.

HEARTFELT! Inspired me to write a song I've been meaning to write for my parents who passed away 20 years ago this month. I'm takin my time with it & so far it's all flowin' together pretty well. I got people I don't even know getting choked up tellin' me to hurry up & finish it cause it sounds good so far. Just wanted to say "THANK YOU SLAUGHTERHOUSE for inspiring me to finally put these broken pieces of my life together to write a song (that's been well over due) for people to relate to as y'all did for me! CROOKED I, your verse did it for me. It's bittersweet when I hear it because I'm saddened to hear about the losses each of you suffered but at the same time, blown away by what y'all put together. The four of you, personally to me, are some verbally-inclined, lyrically-dope spittin' mutha f*ckas!!! MONSTERS is one of many of my personal favorites. 'GOTTA FRIEND NAMED DEPRESSION, A PILL I TAKE TO RELAX HIM, BUT WHEN HE REGURGITATES THE ACHE YOU JUST COULDN'T FATHOM... ' Killin' sh*t homie!"

Couldn't agree more
Goodbye so long farewell but it's not the end of the chapter. Someday in heaven we will reunite, the flesh disappears but the soul survives, until then farewell goodbye. I'll see you again in the afterlife.

I love music with a message like this a lot of heart ❤
Always brings tears to my eyes. I've experienced all three of these things in my life, most recently the loss of my son that I am not able to hold. This song gives me some comfort that I will see them all again and finally meet my boy.
Slaughterhouse is legendary
Man these guys are incredible artists 🎨
This song is so real. My favorite Slaughterhouse song. They captured the tragedies in their lives that the average human goes through in the face of loss.
Man this hits home. Haven’t teared up In a while but it’s the anniversary death of my uncle and aunt who were super close to me and rescued me and my mom when our entire entire blood family turned their backs on us and no one would help. Been almost 10 years since they been gone and it doesn’t get easier I just got stronger to keep going with all they both taught me. Thank you slaughterhouse
Such a beautiful song. Full of emotion
RIP to everyone who lost their life due to Coronavirus 🙏🏾😥
21 August 2018!!!!!! The realest rap track ever. It still makes me cry over my lost loved ones, especially my mum. "Goodbye, so long farewell I will see you again in the after life".
Gives me chills every time I hear it.

Joe budden is such an unparalleled artist that i can't even express that in words. be it this verse or any other track of his like ALL OF ME, MORE OF ME, LOVE IM GOOD, LOVE FOR YOU, AFTERMATH, BACK CLOUD... the list is never ending. He literally pours his soul in every word he spits, every verse he in, every track he makes...... i am a true pac fan who believes that pac was way more than rap....he was a movement. +Justbluntz he did a Reddit AMA yesterday and revealed he was too drunk when they were making this song to get a verse out, glad he's kicked the addiction now though

walt B They're just sad creatures who think rappers like Young Thug, Chief Keef are dope and real Hip Hop with a meaning is shit. Slaughterhouse is love

Beautiful.
Such a good song.
Still love this song and this group. Wish they still did songs.
Crazy how each scenario is so relatable. Come back to this song often
always thought this would have been the perfect song for em to jump on with a verse for proof

Personally I think Em puts out what he wants. He knows how he feels about Proof and he's given us enough over the years about his feelings...

They all have areas where they are stronger than the others. That's why together they are the most elite.

Budden arguably had the best verse on this song. But yeah, Crook--when he can focus all his energy in one verse--is a fuckin beast

Its a ridiculous statement, the reason Slaughterhouse work well together is because they all have very strong points, where the others might not be so good. I love Joell and Royce, and really enjoy crooked and budden too. Either way they are some of the best in hip hop

BLOWN AWAY SLAUGHTER HOUSE , HERE FOR LONG DMN TIME
One of my favorites from slaughterhouse 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Such an underrated rap group
Man, this song pulls at the heart strings
I still play this album, aged really well...still dope!!!
