@@loyaldragon3637 About Spanglish... I have found that it depends on the region, but specially if you had a relative that came from USA. There were a lot of people who left Puerto Rico in the 1920's to 1950's (usually to New York) that came back in the 1970's and 1980's. They brought many words and slangs from English that invaded the Puerto Rican Spanish LOL. In my family I never had that experience and to this day we do not use many of what people may call Spanglish. If you refer to "Anglisismos", I have found that we have as many as Mexicans (I have some Mexican friends and they even have more "Anglisismos" than we do in Puerto Rico). Spanish in Puerto Rico is more alike to the Canary Islands Spanish, just like Cuba. Although, Caribbean Spanish is very similar (D.R., Panama, Colombia, Venezuela are usually similar as well).

Interesting video!....I´m from Argentina and most of the mexican expressions we know are from TV (though we are closer in distance to Perú and Ecuador). I´d say that for us the closest is Uruguayan spanish.

I'm Cuban/Uruguayan. I switch between the two accents to speak to my parents. They laugh when I use the wrong words for things. Like torta, Piña o fresas. Their accents are so different , but they found a way to communicate. Also were a highly caffeinated home. Cuban coffee and mate.

Chingon to me is Bad ass!! Or something that is awesome or pretty cool. It's considered vulgar if you say it out in public but it's still widely used amongst Mexicans who describe their feelings about a place thing or cenrtain situation.

About the "wawa" (guagua) one, the Mexican girl said bus, and she was close. "wawa" is bus in the Caribe (Cuba, República Dominicana, Puerto Rico, etc.) and Canary Islands (In Spain). But there was nobody from these regions.

I’m Mexican and I love our accent but I do love Colombians, Argentinians, Dominican, Venezuelans, Cubans.. etc.. love to all my Latino brothers and sisters ❤️ HERMANDAD y Un Abrazo 🤗

I knew the Mexican girl was going to loose badly and it’s exactly what they explained in the end. Mexico has a huge influence on Latin America via media but not the other way around. It also doesn’t help the girl is from Mexico City. Had she been from Northern Mexico using Northern Mexican words or slang then the other girls would have had a really hard time. I.e when she said “morro” “morrito” they were confused but had she said escuincle or chamaquito they would have gotten it right. They all mean little kid.

Igor Kovács it’s still easy to guess those because Mexican culture is exported all over the Spanish speaking world. Maybe from other natives outside of Nahuatl.

@@WizzardSorcerer Right, nahuatl was the most dominant language in Mexico. Until the 1660s it was the official language, not Spanish, if I remember. In a way the whole world knows some nahuatl words. But not too many kiche, otomí or purépecha :)

Igor Kovács exactly. So this gal is from Mexico City. The other girls would know Nahuatl words I.e Chahuistle, eacuintle etc. Mexicans have incorporated lots of Nahuatl words into their language etc. I doubt the Mexico City girl would even know purepecha or any other indigenous language or words.

Bahador Alast i did. Loved it. My dad immigrated from Iran to the United States, but worked a lot in Argentina. We also had a few family members immigrate to Italy, and I picked up the language fairly easy. I use to enjoy speaking Italian with my half Iranian half Argentinean best friend, who would respond in his dialect of Spanish. I couldnt do this with my uncles wife, who was from Mexico. Not as easily. Dialects tell a story in themselves.

I was born in Miami but my family is Ecuadorian, and I had no idea some of those Ecuadorian terms were actually slang! I was raised with a mix of Ecuadorian, Colombian, Cuban, and Puerto Rican slang hahaha.

This is awesome! I don't think a lot of people realize the unique slang we have across the Spanish speaking world. Sometimes I have a really hard time understanding and need to double check to make sure it's actually Spanish someone is speaking haha

Salam, wow this was interesting! I believe Guagua is a bus, van, or SUV in the Carribean. My friend would constantly refer to her SUV as her guagua.. Chingón is like awesome or bad ass, also it can mean something huge or large or bulky, it's slang of course. I'm surprised she didn't get asado or meche; I had never heard them but I figured them out. I have heard also Ay los vidrios, lol but, Ya nos callo el chiguiscle, I was not too clear on! I'm Hispanic, Native American and Persian and I knew most of these for some reason I guess through my Native American heritage I had heard alot of the Central and South American words. Great content Bahador-Joon!

Entertaining video! However, each country has its own slang so it should have been a 3-way competition! :) Each lady representing her own country! And in Mexico's case - since it is so large and diverse, each province has its own slang!

Good one! I was wondering about this one! I think the ones I'd mostly enjoy would be dutch from the Netherlands with either Afrikaans or Flemish, Danish with Norwegian, German with Swiss german (Schwitzer dütch), or arabic dialects between them (something like Gulf VS Egypt). Wish you luck! 😏

el problema es que la cultura de Mexico está más difundida en Latinoamerica por las televisoras, en segunda ellas no debieron usar palabras del quechúa por que en tal caso nosotros también podemos usar las del náhuatl o el maya, aquí se trata de usar sólo español

Well, it’s not new in the americas we have mix of all the parts of the world, so you can find since Arabic features, to Europeans, to mixed, also Asians rasks, and indigenous one, because in the Europeans colonizations, the colonizers give some people of other continents In the most of the cases africa as slaves, and the Europeans, plus in the last 2 centuries the Asian immigration was really big, and also the European.

I like how our Spanish is influenced by indigenous words too. Salvadoran Spanish is like that. I'm Salvadoran born in the U.S.

Da'Mardis Brown Smalls I get why he said he’s Salvadorian, in the United States there’s no culture like the cultures of Latin and South America. The United States is a mix of different nationalities with different customs, not like South American countries that have a own specific custom. He relates to his Salvadorian culture because there’s no American culture that all Americans can relate to.

En filipino, yo sabe que asado significa un sabor de siopao. Decimos 'asado siopao'. Pero, sabe tambien que en filipino, ya el palabra 'asar' de español pero lo usamos diferentemente. Decimos en filipino 'Huwag mo na asarin ang kapatid mo' cual significa 'No irrites tu hermano'. En filipino, puedamos usar 'asar' para decir 'irritar' en español. Pero no, usamos 'asado' para el sabor.

P Raja achachay is a quechua word (the ancient language of the Incas). There are other similar expressions like atatau and alalau, that are used when you feel pain ir fear.

We don't share the same language besides the numbers and a few words, we definitely don't look the same and our cultures are completely different. Every other Latin American country share similar cultures, music, language, etc and even with all the similarities half of us hate one another. Spain still interacts with Mexico, the Caribbeans, Central and South America. You guys are just Asian.

Yes, it would be great.. In the former regime the official language was serbocroatian which was a hybrid of the two languages (all do the difference is more on a dialectical level) and everybody learned it in school (my parents for example) but the new generations on both sides, especially the millenials, don't know many words and expressions. As Ecuadorian it’s just used in the Andes zone and they write like Spanish guagua, but it’s not the same guagua, because this guagua comes from the Quechua the indigenous language before the Spaniards, and it means baby.

You should do this with Spanish from the Dominican Republic and South American Spanish.

Wawa means saliva in Kapampangan (one of the languages in the Philippines)

I've heard that in some state of Mexico they refer to a child as "lepe"...My husband's uncle uses it..never heard of it otherwise.. my parents are from Michoacán

I believe it has aymara influence. So from Arequipa, close to La Paz Bolivia, because I have heard atatay when someone gets hurt, and alalay for touching cold water

There is also a lot of difference between the Spanish of the North of South America and the Spanish from southern cone of America (Chile-Argentina-Paraguay-Uruguay).

Mexican dialect is not close to the Spanish language from Spain, but it would be closer than Caribbean or Central American. Argentinian/Uruguayan Spanish would be the closest to Spain, but still have notable differences.

I'd say that mexican dialect is very influenced by indigenous languages especially náhuatl, a common example would be the word "güey" which is like saying "tío" in spain or "dude" in U.S but "güey" comes from náhuatl and in prehispanic age that was how people called the 'Tlatoani' (The head of the tribe) huey tlatoani: Great lord Nowdays everyones use it to their closest friends and family.

Grammatically Latin American dialects (from Mexico to Argentina) are closer among them than the dialect from Spain, some verbs and its tenses change between Spain and Latin America Phonetically, Spain is very different from all Latin America, spaniards pronounce the s,c and z different than latin americans And as they said in the video, Mexico has a lot of influence in Latin America media

"Guagua" is also used for an SUV in Puerto Rico

Unified kichwa officially spells it wawa not guagua. Guagua is Mestizos saying it wrong

Erick N. Since you responded in English I am guessing you are raised in the states. The word wawa is hard to miss in Ecuador.
