Beagles are excellent rabbit hunting dogs, also very brave and smart. We had beagle almost 14 yrs, i loved it. I remember a funny thing, when our young beagle was learning for rabbit hunting, one time it was following rabbit scent trail and when it lost track of it, our beagle watched up to a big tree and thought rabbit must went up there :D Greetings from Finland

This is literally what beagles do, even when they aren’t trained to hunt. My 2 lived in California with us, with jackrabbits literally everywhere. When they pick up a scent and trail it, it’s just cool. I would highly encourage anybody to adopt a beagle! Or any dog for that matter ❤️🐶

People don't realize but you don't really Train beagles. You just expose them to rabbit scent and tracks.

Anything they can smell

All the dislikes... you can bet they've never been out doors in their lives and probably think rabbits are born from Easter eggs. Love the sound of the beagles... "doing what they were created to do". Some of these beagles live like really good race horses, very well cared for. And in ARHA events, the rabbits are unharmed,.. though a bit exercised for that day. ANd if you notice the dogs are wearing transmitting collars with trailing antennae to make sure they don't get lost.

Richard Mourdock all the dislikes are because these dogs can't pick up the check and back track like crazy bet you don't know that terminology but I can see what all the dislikes are about

ok. I lost my beagle s while back and I needed to be reminded of my roots. I looked up beagles hunting and found this video. when the first dog Bayed... I cried. I did. This video spoke to me in a language like nothing else can. thank you. God bless you and your dogs and may the rabbits be plentiful.

I love hound hunting, I don't like killing I just like watching and hearing the dogs, Beagles, coon hounds, basset hounds, fox hounds, that's the joy of the hunt to me.

We carried pistols for years so as not to kill many rabbits but for the last 5 years we have not carried guns. It has always been about the dogs for us. We run year round.

They just give me so much joy. My little pup macchiato is only 3 months old but I can’t wait for him to grow up and look this beautiful! I want to train him to track but I’m not really sure where to start. I think it will be good for him, keep him active and stimulated.

Yep they do it naturally. I have never ‘trained’ mine at all and they act just like 😢here in the video They r so cool and cute!

My daddy had a beautiful beagle named Queeny. She loved to hunt and all the neighborhood men wanted her pups. She would always do exactly as she was told, and always left when told. My daddy fed us with those beagles, there were eleven of us. She lived to hunt.

We run tracking and shock collars so these girls only run rabbits. They are exposed to so many deer and other animals we could not have them running off game. I really appreciate you waching. I hope you subscribe and hit the bell for Notifications. There is more to come.

The best part of the video

It's OK that not everybody likes them. Always going to have people with different opinions and I respect that. These dogs are treated like part of our family. The rabbit dictates how the run goes. If he does not want to play then he just runs to the hole. We do have a hunting season but kill very few rabbits. For us it's about the dogs running the rabbit. If the rabbit is healthy the dogs never get close to the rabbit.

The two things they love most in the world is eating and running rabbits. They will choose running rabbits over eating every time.

Those dogs are having the time of thier lives, nothing better than hearing beagles baying with excitement.

They get really snare after being run that much.

Thanks, I am lucky to have such a good group of guys to hunt with. You would be amazed at how many people think we are unsafe hunters. We take a lot of pride in going our of our way to be safe.

My beagle would chase them around the apartment complex in IN. The rabbit sometimes would be two feet in front of him and he wouldn’t see it. 😂 nose to the ground 😂

We just adopted a 7 year old beagle who was part of a hunting team. We live in town and are afraid to let her off leash. Whenever this stupid quarantine is over, I hope to take her to a wooded area and just let her run. Even now, when she sees a rabbit on our walks, she nearly pulls my arm out of my socket trying to go after it. She's the best.

You need a tracking training collar if you turn a haunting dog loos who is trained to hunt,

Actually no. It has very little to do with killing the rabbit. We run dogs almost every day of the year & do not carry guns very often. It is all about the dogs.

I only go hunting for rabbits a couple of times per year. I mostly go to hear the beagles sing.

Meh. I lead the beagles for my uncle on our leased land for hunting. We shot the rabbits or hell the coyotes would tear them apart two days later

I had a Beagle for 14 yrs and I feel like I deprived him of this! Although, there were plenty of rabbits in the woods behind our house - he definitely loved sniffing for them.

They will come back to you. Just turn him loose and let him run. After the excitement of freedom and getting tired he will start coming back to you. Don't chase after him. Just let him run . He will come back.

They make great pets and hunting dogs. A lot of people think if you make pets of them it will ruin them for hunting but that is not true. Yea we do not kill many rabbits. We just run them for the pleasure of watching the dogs.

Juan Andrés Mejía We love to watch and hear the dogs run. We run the dogs all the time without hunting the rabbit. We don't kill the rabbits very often. The rabbit enjoys the chase also. If he does not to run he will just go in the hole.

Yep we might get one at Easter. I'm talking on pet terms, they are stubborn to train off lead because they follow their noses. Letting him off in the garden is no problem but in public are they really fast while using their noses or are they just like this? 😂

There are a lot of beagles up for rescue adoption in kentucky. That's where I got mine from. They brought her up to Ontario with a bunch of others. Basically the humane societies anywhere in that state will most likely have a bunch. They do all of the spaying and deworming and you can adopt one for very little as compared to what I rescued mine for after she traded hands into a Canadian rescue.

I miss the sound of my beagles howling. We never took them out to chase rabbits or anything (living in the city). But they always sang to our mailman, squirrels, sparrows, the odd bunny, or the high schoolers who’d cut through our street to get home.

That's what mine sound like and it's annoying because every time we have someone over or a squirrel is hanging out in our backyard, our dogs go nuts.

Hi, new Beagle owner here. Mine holds his tail in a downward hook when he's content (getting pets, or a treat, etc). His tail wags happily other times so it's not injured or anything but in this position it almost looks broken, like a sideways question mark. Does that mean anything or is he just weird?

Beagles do Corky things. As long as dogs are eating, drinking and plaing you are good. Hunters want them to have the low tail swing. They make wonderful pets. Go easy on the dog treats and make sure he gets lots of exercise. They can become porkers real easy.

It is a Sony HDRXR-550V. The Camera is around 3 years old and they don't make it anymore.

Money Treez I don't really understand the question? They are rabbit hunting dogs that do field trial but I think about everybody I know who field trials hunts their dogs.

+Mark Carder I'm from Louisiana, out here field trial dogs are usually slower but tighter on the line. & people who breed strictly for hunting usually have "run to catch" dogs

Yes they are track dogs. They are supposed to bark when they smell track. The dog with the better nose will be able to smell the rabbit when others can't If they are not on the line where the rabbit went they should not be barking.
