    This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much for this. Liked and subbed. I have had the SkyTrak for several months but have never been able to get it properly set-up. I think there are a number of factors that have contributed to this. First off, I agree with comments below that you have to make sure the Skytrak is level, not only with the mat also from a tilting perspective. The built in levels can help with this as well as the alignment lasers that you can turn on. (Use the little level that comes with it on top of the unit for tilt) I was using the fat white rubber tee (driving range) for drives and I was hitting it generally 190 and all over the place. I would then hit my 3 wood off the mat 230, brutal !! It was so bad that I haven't been playing it much due to frustration. Same type of thing for really high shots (ie: your lob wedge explanation), and putt alignment. I have ordered the new tees as recommended and can't wait to get going again with all your tips. I have a black driver and haven't experienced the same effect (as others) but I have an older white R11, and will check it out with the new tees. Thanks again for rejuvenating my belief in a great product, that I just didn't know how to configure properly. I think Skytrak should send out a lot better instruction and or videos, because without these tips like yours from real life, they may get negative feedback simply because peeps don't know how to set things up.

    Great video's. I appreciate these Skytrak video's, because they don't seem to cover much at Skytrak. Does hitting off different turfs affect the ball speed? I have Truestirke, you have fiberbuild or a regular golf mat , which one of these has the most accuracy ball speed?

  • @GarageGolf

    @GarageGolf

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hello Michael, Thanks for watching! Because we don't have a basis to go off of it is not easy to tell which on more accurately reflects ball speed. I would say therefore that it is best to go with a mat that most truly reflects hitting on real grass which in my opinion would narrow it down to Fiberbuilt and True Strike. With the bounce on a regular golf mat I feel those speed numbers would be more skewed as a result. I have not had the opportunity to test Truestrike but hope to in the future. What I may do in the future is test ball speed on the mat I have then take Skytrak to a driving range and see how closely those numbers line up on similar shots. Future video idea.

  • @GarageGolf
    @GarageGolf5 жыл бұрын

    Just to clarify a bit, for "faster" swing speeds I would classify this as being 95mph or higher with your driver. Putting the ball behind the dot will help a lot as well, but launch angle does factor in also so it helps with people with low launch angles also, even if the swing speed is not at that level.

    Not sure if this helps but it works for me, I use a laser line tool and place it so it runs through the center of the ball and onto the screen, I then use a 7 iron with a putter stoke with enough force to reach the screen this gives me a true shot angle and allows me to align the Skytrak, if my shot is off line I know immediately.

  • @GarageGolf

    @GarageGolf

    No but I can certainly work on one. What I advise is to set up your Skytrak straight with your mat towards the screen and take it to the driving range on the Skytrak application. Hit short pitch shots straight as you can towards the screen and see if it reflects the same straight shot on the Skytrak app. If not open or close the Skytrak face a small amount until you get it right and it lines up accordingly. For example, my Skytrak had to be open to target about 1/4 angle or so for my shots to reflect straight when I was hitting straight pitch shots. From there I got a heavy duty piece of white duct tape meant for higher heat and put it at the base of the Skytrak case so if I ever moved the Skytrak I know exactly where to put it back again. Let me know if you have any questions on this!

    Thanks for watching Pierre. You can use foam balls but the Skytrak is very hit or miss with the reads of a foam ball versus a real ball because the spin numbers will be way off. It may read some of them but you wont see true ball flight like you would with a real golf ball most likely. I had the same issue and put a couple of real balls past a net into the sheetrock a time or two. Lol.

    Appreciate the tips and your videos sir. Been a minute since you posted this video...not certain if this will find your way. I am about to pull the trigger on a Skytrak+ as I don't believe I have the appropriate space for something like a Mevo+. I was considering purchasing the 4x7 Sigpro Softie golf mat kit but was hoping you could provide some expertise on the Skytrak placement in regards to the ball striking area...I've viewed some video concerns about placing the Skytrak on the same general hitting surface area leading to misreads from ball strike vibrations. Your setup looks similar in design with a dedicated hitting strip but yours might affix to the larger matt more securely. Sigpro strip appears to sit via a clean cut out and tamp down versus any submerged connectivity. The Sigpro kit also appears to have a remaining 1.75' on the pad. This would require the Skytrak to be placed at least 1.75" away from the ball. How far away can you place the Skytrak from the actual hitting surface and still expect accurate reading? Should I just purchase a hitting strip so that the Skytrack could sit closer to the hitting area but on a separate pad? I hope this all makes sense. Thank you very much. Seamus.

  • @GarageGolf

    Hi Seamus, if you would like shoot me an email to Roland@mygaragegolf.com and we can go over this together in more detail. The SIGPRO 4x7 is meant to place a launch monitor such as a Skytrak+ in the area next to the hitting insert so the Skytrak+ should work just fine. The Skytrak+ is meant to be placed 11" to 12" away from the golf ball. In regards to the Skytrak+ I also have a discount code I can share with you that will save you 5% off of a Skytrak+ purchase. First let me say that your videos are very helpful and entertaining, I am subscribed. I am having issues with my Skytrak with TGC 2019 with very short chips not picking up. These are the type of chips where you debate chip and run or just use the putter. In this situation, if I use putter the ball will only go a foot or two where in real life I know it would probably push through the fringe and roll out near the hole. Is there a setting that corrects this? I would say that everything else in nearly spot on so it is very aggravating.

  • @GarageGolf

    @GarageGolf

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching John and for subscribing. For the Skytrak and your chip shots in general or putts on the fringe make sure that the club selection is set at putter on TGC 2019 if you are in fact not on the green and using the putter. I am a putt anywhere around the green guy myself and it took me a while to figure that out when using Skytrak originally with JNPG as my ball would not go anywhere if I did not do this. If still not working try shining a light directly over the golf ball while putting while making sure not to hit the laser with the light directly and see if this helps as well. This worked for me, Red V says, Are you using the metal case on it? I found that it elevates the device too much which led to most of my shots not being tracked. The minute I removed the case and put the device flat on hitting surface, it worked perfectly every time.

    Hello Sean, It is certainly a tedious process sometimes. I normally go on the app or simulator program I am using and hit several chip shots to see what it is doing in comparison to what shows up on the screen. If you have a program where you can test putting with no break on the green (for example Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf has this option) it is best to test out with putting. If the putt rolls true, most likely your shots will follow. After adjusting it for the putting, then test out some chip shots and lastly full shots. As you might see in my video, my Skytrak is actually about 1/8 open to the target line. That is the way I had to set it up to most accurately represent a straight putt. I saw little to no effect on full shots or chip shots by doing this so that is where I left it. That is why I put the piece of tape down in front of the Skytrak at its feet in the event I ever have to move it. If you line it up on your mat, put a piece of tape or indicator on your mat as well. If you have to move your mat nightly, mark the four corners of your mat with a tape outline so you know the exact spot to put it back when you set it back down. This will ensure you have the same setup each time you set it back down again. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    Hey there. I have a new glitch in my SkyTrak. Was wondering if anyone else has the same issue or an idea to resolve it. On my 7 & 8 irons about 1 in every 5 shots when in the randomizer, closest to or on the range it reads my club speed between 97-99mph and my spin between 11,00-12,000 with a distance of about 150 yards. Where my swing speed is typically 88-90 mph with a spin of 6,000-7,000. I have tried 4 different brand golf balls and it has done it on all. But it has not done that with 9iron or PW yet.

    Hi guys, great vid and info. Not long got my set up complete and I had to erect my Projector to the right side wall. I’ve found a lot of shots go to the left. In your experience, do you think it’s the angle of my projector above right side, relative to the SkyTrak system on the ground? Thanks in advance

  • @GarageGolf

    @GarageGolf

    2 ай бұрын

    Hi, the angle of where the ball goes will 100% directly correlate to the Skytrak itself. Go to the driving range and hit a few short chip shots straight down the middle. If the shot goes straight in the sim and goes right or left on the Skytrak, open or close the Skytrak a bit until you see the shots line up to what you see in the sim. At that point mark the feet of the skytrak with a piece of tape so you know where to line it up each time. It's not uncommon to have to open the Skytrak sometimes by several degrees to properly align it to reflect the correct shot in real life. That will make a major difference to your experience.

    How is the lighting in your space? Have you tried shining an LED light on your hitting area but not hitting the camera in the Skytrak? It helps with misreads. If not try raising the height of your Skytrak slightly. If the bristles are higher than your CCE mat it may just not be reading it right due to a difference in height.

    My biggest issue with the SkyTrak is with hybrids, fairway woods, and the driver. It seems that any club with a greater head size than an iron (iron readings are about correct) give VERY inaccurate readings. For example outdoors last season at our club's driving range with a Trakman and my 3Wood on a 1/4" tee my carry distance was an average of 223 yards (yup, I'm old now!), but with the SkyTrak I'm getting 170-180 yard carries! I feel your pain with the missed shots. I can minimize it by ball placement as per the video, making sure that my Skytrak is not on the same mat I am hitting off of and I now use an LED light that I shine onto the golf ball as well. That being said there will still be misreads. Now having that many misreads is a bit uncommon. Try cleaning the laser with a microfiber towel and seeing if that makes any difference. Is your Skytrak also in a case? I have heard of interference with the standard Skytrak case they sell as well. I know this is scary but try taking it out of the case and hitting about 10 shots to see how many misreads you are getting that way. I also never connect my Skytrak via usb as it always has a lot more misreads that way to me. Try charging your Skytrak with a portable phone charger instead when using it and connecting via network mode. I found that made a world of difference when I use mine. Try troubleshooting these and let me know if you see some improvement. Also take the Skytrak off your current mat if you can and try lining it up at the same height as your current mat but not on the mat itself (I use some books on the floor next to my golf mat in my sim room). The movement from the mat can cause a great deal of misreads. Let me know if any of this helps!!

    How do you get the red dots for alignment

  • @GarageGolf

    @GarageGolf

    5 жыл бұрын

    When you start the Skytrak app and connect the Skytrak successfully, go to the bottom right hand corner of the screen that says "Device Level" and has the picture of the level. In there you can turn alignment mode off or on. When you turn alignment mode on you will see the two red dots on your mat. Please note this has been proven to not be the most effective way of lining up your Skytrak to the screen. The best way would be to hit short chip shots or putts as straight as possible into the screen. You can then see the ball flight on the screen and see if it goes right or left from there and adjust accordingly if needed by opening or closing the face of the Skytrak. Opening the face of the Skytrak to the right will level shots more to the left and vice versa. If you see my mat you will see that my Skytrak is about 1/8 open (not square to the hitting surface) I tested this by putting on a flat green on the simulator and noticed all my putts were breaking right even though they were straight in my sim room. I then adjusted from there and then moved to chip shots and lastly full shots. After I had it where I wanted it I added the piece of tape to the floor so I always know where to line the Skytrak up.

    Where do you put the ball for regular irons? Like the 7 or 8 iron. I just set up my skytrak today. I'm so f*cking pissed right now. I hit the ball 327 times. It registered 144 times. The unit is level, I've put the ball all over the place. sometimes it will work 3 or 4 in a row in one spot. Then that spot is no longer any good. You said you spoke with someone at skytrak, Where did you find a phone number to reach them?

    For all your support contacting needs: web.skygolf.com/support/contact-skygolf Let's see if we can troubleshoot a bit. 1.) Is your Skytrak on the same mat you are hitting the golf balls on? If so, what type of mat is it? 2.) Do you have misreads with the ball on a tee or only off the mat itself? 3. Do you have issues when hitting driver vs irons or is it only mid iron shots? Does it read higher lofted clubs better for example or are you having issues with all irons in general? Let me know when you get a moment!

    DO OU HAVE A VIDEO ON HOW TO CONNECT THE SKYTRAK TO THE PROJECTOR THROUGHT IPAD?

  • @GarageGolf

    @GarageGolf

    4 жыл бұрын

    No that would depend on the projector more than anything and if it has wireless screen sharing capabilities. You could also use an HDMI from Ipad Lighting port out directly into the HDMI input on projector or even better use the lighting port out into an HDMI splitter that could then go out to a TV or external monitor and the projector as well. That is how I have mine set up.

    My 3 hybrid doesn't register shots. Is it because of the black finish on the top of the club?

  • @GarageGolf

    @GarageGolf

    3 жыл бұрын

    No black typically does not cause this issue. Try placing it about 2 to 3 inches behind the laser dot and see if that possibly helps. Different ball placement with different clubs is sometimes required depending on your swing type. Also try shining an LED light on the ball from behind the Skytrak. That helped me dramatically.

  • @GarageGolf

    @GarageGolf

    @@algus7626 How long have you had your setup? There is actually such a thing as "Indoor Swing Syndrome" that we all go through initially that causes you to lose about 10 - 20 yards off your normal shots. Whether it be hitting off a mat or just getting used to hitting indoors believe me it is a real thing whether you feel it or not or your brain registers it as well. Also make sure you set your elevation appropriately if using the Skytrak app under settings to match your elevation in your area and also set your ground to soft, medium or hard based upon where you are at. Let me know.
