I never expected to see so much modern architecture in Paris (12:20-16:40), but I have to admit some of the styles were pretty good. But i still like the older buildings better.

There are places in Paris with quite recent architecture but most of the video actually doesn't take place in Paris but in the famous district of La Défense which is in a neighbouring city .

It's a special district, and the only one with skyscrapers. It's not in Paris proper. Central Paris is still very old. I think it has its own look and is pretty cool

A pandemic is a perfect way to open your eyes to really see what life could be like without your usual income stream and everyone have to stay a home. Well; I never felt it because i invested in a trading film where i earn 4 digits per week. Power of financial literacy!

We went to Defence few years back when we visited Paris. Such a contrast with the old city. Although, living in Toronto now, I much prefer the old charm and architecture of Paris.

To complete this beautiful video, it's important to specify that what is called "downtown" in this video, is not really located in Paris. This business district called "La Défense" is located in the western outskirts of Paris, mainly in the towns of "Nanterre" and "Puteaux". Like in many European cities, there's a desire to not mix (or as little as possible) historic architecture with modern architecture. However, because European cities are smaller than American ones, it's accepted that these business centers are part of the city they are supposed to serve. So, even in France we speak of the district of "La Défense" as being located in Paris. (It's not like it's located 60 km/40 miles away)

Just to be a little bit more specific, if French cities or communes are indeed smaller than American ones, it is rather untrue on a European level Anyway very good comment 👍

@@thibault4211 France has 35,000 communes, while countries such as Germany, Italy or Spain only have only 8,000. So yeah, communes are territorially smaller units in France than in the rest of Europe, which doesn't mean that urban areas are smaller. From the commune of Paris to the business district of La Défense, you stay in a very densely built-up area, you don't really leave the "city" in that sense. In the US, a "city" generally refers to everything in the metropolitan area up to 50 km away from the center.

The architecture in Paris is truly incredible! Thanks for sharing!

@@Prince077Aussie Australian cities are the same cities as in the United States and Canada. A city center with skyscrapers and houses all around, nothing beautiful. Especially since these cities are made for the car which is the opposite of European cities which on the contrary develop on public transport. I don't see what looks cleaner in these cities. There is nothing special and nothing superior.

@@rayan95200 Lol in my opinion Vienna is more beautiful and cleaner than Paris, which is underrated and there are trash and shits all over the streets. It's so touristy, crowded, unsafe and noisy. On the other hand, Vienna is more peaceful, safer and neater than Paris. And in my perspective, the architectures in the capital of Austria, Wien is more beautiful, properly maintained and well designed than Paris. Afterall it's known as the city of classical music! 🇦🇹❤️

I had no idea downtown Paris looked like that. It's stunning! Usually, the areas with the older and shorter buildings is all we see in movies and photos and shit. Not that those areas aren't beautiful too, but it's nice to see a different side to downtown Paris than just that. Thanks for taking us around.

This isn't really downtown Paris. It's La Défense a business district outside the city itself. Many cities in Europe do this, London has Canary Wharf, Amsterdam has Amsterdam Zuid, etc.

Actually it isn't Paris. There are many cities called like Nanterre, Puteaux, Courbevoie in this area. In addition they are located in another department . But definitely it is " Must see" because it is financial district. Moreover it is a good driving experience to drive there.👍

It's indeed a great City , but I'm very disappointed to see how Graffiti destroys the cities like Paris , its everywhere on almost every wall esp in centre of city , and trash can be seen too in city center , really didn't expect that plus the infrastructure also looks in bad shape. Thank you for making this video. I would not visit Paris to see this part of it. It could be anywhere in the world. The buildings are simply big, tall glass boxes devoid of style and charm. I noticed that there are few people walking around in this area, probably because it’s not built at a human scale. This is not the type of architecture that feels inviting. It is meant to impress but nothing more. Not Paris’ finest.

It's just that the pedestrian areas are above and separated from car traffic. You can notice the many footbridges. The heart of La Defense is big pedestrian squares but you can't see it from a car.

Wow, I even like Amsterdams Business District called Zuidas more.

Well, the list will go on and on. Yes, there are a few good things, that's why we are living here, and with the hope that one-day things will improve. But calling it DUBAI - not yet. Paris as well as France reminds me of L.A..

I really wish I had gotten to see more of France than I did. My iPhone got stolen on the second day there, and having to deal with the Paris Apple Store employees just put me off the rest of the trip. They're bad enough in the States; the French ones were enough to drive a person homicidal. Which is a real shame, because I'm really a fan of European architecture, and Paris seems to have the best of it. Hopefully my next trip there will be better. Quite frankly, it couldn't be worse... But enough of me nattering on. I think I'll just enjoy the video. Another excellent job.
