Do not pick up *Mercer's Plans* on the table in the same room with Chillrend. This will bug out a main Thieves Guild quest and make it get stuck in an infinite loop later on. Alternatively, this bug can be used to get multiple copies of the Nightingale Blade, one of the best swords in the game. Putting Mercer's Plans back on the table again and playing through the bugged quest again should resolve the issue, but only do this at your own risk. Please thumbs this up so others can see it. It was a huge pain for me trying to sort this out myself and fix the bugged quest. Cheers.

There are actually a few places I've heard of the later Thieves Guild quest bugging out. If the above suggestion doesn't work for you, what specific issue are you having? The main way to tell is based on where the NPCs are getting stuck in the quest.

Will it still work? it's been a long time but I think I remember seeing it in the case n broke all my lock picks lol. didn't know that I could ask Lydia to do it. (it's also why I quit playing skyrim for ESO lol)but now I'm back&next I'm going to hit up oblivion! finally back ward compatible. ps. I left a lengthy comment description of why we don't need reminders on how too use yt. lol by now we ALL should well know how. but maybe After the new year we can also stop adding that new info feature abut the bell. since its been out a couple mos already n by Jan. we shouldn't need it in every video&then ask for likes sub shares etc only one that makes sense to keep it's the comment&that's only when ya want a discussion or feedback. I've noticed that the biggest yters DON'T use any of that and get millions. so the correlation between those who ask for likes n such to those that don't seems a lot don't but still do really good. I haven't looked at data to support it in detail tho but it maybe worth a look for those who create content. but I go in depth in my other comment below about this n how it's time we save all our time.

Hey man. You probably won’t see this but when I was about 12 my brother and I played Skyrim all the time. We watched this video and got the sword after many hours of trying to pick the lock. It is still one of my favourite memories I have with him. He messed up a bit and ended up getting sentenced to six years in jail earlier this year. And while I miss him a lot and don’t feel mercy about his punishment, I always think of this video and that night that we got chillrend when I think about him. u can try to shoot that gear looking thing under the balcony... but i dont know if it will effect the mission later on.

A scimitar is super easy to get, you just need to raid a large boat by solitude, and it has a base damage of about 13-14. I recommend getting that. the frost enchantment is also great to have on this weapon

but... Chillrend is a leveled sword, with six variants. So, it's best to grab it at level 46 for maximum damage and charge, since at 46 you get the best base damage and enchantment damage and charge. >_> Getting it at level one is like eating one cookie, when you could wait until after dinner and have all the cookies!

Example: Friend: "Woah, dewd, you got all the cheevos for Skyrim?! Even _________?" You: "Totes, brah. I mean, I AM pretty fantastic. Twas nothing but a breeze, home-slice." Friend: "I don't know if I believe you... Prove it." You: "Well... Check out THIS ACHIEVEMENT!!" Friend: "DEEEEEWWWWWWD!" Thus why achievements are cared about. >_> Guess you're too casual to get it.

I have seen too many people who really are serious when they say mods truly sucks, so I thought you were one of those people. Sorry if you aren't.

A couple more cool tips is to hold a dagger in your left hand but only swing your sword with the right hand. The game calculates dual weilding speed only from your left hand so you can swing a heavier sword at dagger speeds. This will get faster when you level up dual weilding perks. Then use the Elemental Fury shout to really crank up the DPS later. This is proven to be the most efficient way of killing in close quarters at higher levels, other than sneak attacks that is.

Your enchantment research saved me because I almost declined a Daedric Dagger and you made me make the damage from 11 to 34568 thanks!

Also, for those wondering, if you would like to increase Chillrend's base physical damage, you can increase it at a grindstone for one Refined Malachite.

​@@sergiomercado8991I suppose this damage can carry you for many levels ahead. I'm level 16 and using 28 base damage skyforge steel sword. But my one handed is around 50 so it also gives additional damage. You can use the critical strike perk for initial 10% chance for critical hit.

Hey Eso! I have been playing Skyrim for crazy long and I love taking time to plan alternative approaches before battle or reaching objectives and I can't believe the things you have shown me since yesterday. After playing it a lot it is great to see that someone has taken the effort to find even more weir approaches to Skyrim and I love it. You are the best!

A word of advice, Chillrend levels with the character so it will only be 15 damage once you are level 46+

It works! I just got the chillrend, but a tip at the beginning is that is easier to hop over the gate if the wagon is right side up, and also, go into first person while walking over the fence. Thanks!

This is my favorite one handed sword. It was totally worth getting when I did the original mission to break into the house... this trick just makes it so much easier, but again.. worth it

Keith Austin yes it is remember whatever level you are it will do the same as a dragonbone sword and it that lvl it will 5 frost damage and paralyse opponents for 2 secs . But yes it is better getting it in higher lvls for a better enchantment(I recommend to wait until you get at least 20 points of frost damage).

also if u take mercers plans you cant get the skeleton key so its best not to take them until you get the quest to take the and the girls name is Karliah and if you dont know how to get nighten gale quest do the thiefs guild quest line it takes maybe a hour or two

BE CAREFUL: Getting this weapon without doing the Guild Quest creates a glitch that doesn't allow you to finish. So if you want Nightingale Armor you might wanna keep doing it the long way instead of glitching through. This was a problem on Last Gen and I'm sure it's the exact same on this version. I know what he says, but you can still have this loop and glitch out.

Don't do it, just enjoy the game as it was meant to be, my suggestion for new players is even if you aren't going to do a mage get conjuration magic, it really helps. also find the ritual stone as soon as possible, it basically lets you resurrect about any level enemy and about as many as are in the field of the power which happens to be huge (I have gotten about 10 dragurs following me around through a dungeon killing other dragurs

Really just buy the basic fire, ice, shock blast spells. For healing get the basic restoration and ward spells and that should help you through the first few levels. Then find your way to the Mage college and do all of the quests there and by the end of that you should find yourself equipped with some powerful ass spells.

+Thomas Vinh (Solar Knight) many destruction spells can stun a enemy briefly and not to mention paralysis and telekinesis. Turn we got fire storm, ice storm, and my favorite Electric storm (like a Kamehameha wave (good mood idea))

Does the weapon improves by leveling, or does it take its stats at the moment you pick it up? Also, does this break the game, making it too easy or unpleasant? Is this sword good in a build with no perks for it (example mage build)?

If you want the sword to be at its peak of the badassery it has get it at level 46. If you get it at this time it will be like a dragon bone sword if I remember correctly.

If you want Chillrend at its highest level, you cannot enter that cell until level 46. Otherwise, it'll be locked to whatever level you got it.

You can craft a Glass sword, enchant it with frost and paralysis damage if you've got 100 enchanting and the perk, and name it "chillrend." you can also smith it to have a higher damage-per-swing. it will take quite a bit of grinding and will technically not be the real thing, so the only thing you really lost is a trophy to display in your house

Every one know that 'best weapons' in Skyrim are the ones you forge with the loop. (Enchant alchemy set to make better enchant potions to make higher percentage enchanted alchemy set to make higher percentage enchant potions x whatever number of times you want) Then make smithing potions in the 1000% + so that you can make 5k + damage weapons that can fell elder dragons in one hit.

yeah lol, im sure it would be very "fun" to play with such an overpowered sword. Just like shitty Windshear that has broken effect and should be removed from the game. Chillrend is the best sword in the game when you play Skyrim normaly without any alchemy exploids or glitches. Nightingale blade is just as good with the awesome absorption effect. Just use normal smithing equipment to boost the smithing level. Using the alchemy exploids breaks the fun and enjoyment.

With Dukaan mask and the perks of destruction the enchantment goes to 56 points of frost damage so powerful!

I found out you can also enter Riften at lvl 1 (and low persuade) by walking around to the docks and entering in the side door that opens next to the smith. Once you enter Riften the front gate guards will not try to extort money out of you if you leave and come back that way.

get a mod called cheat room, it can give you levels on lock pick, destruction, two-handed, one-handed, etc, it can even give you all the magic in the game, and there is a XP room where you kill XP mud crabs with a XP sword to get a bunch of XP and you will be so high leveled

Love this sword. Have it at level 45 and after smithing it has a damage of 202. Thing is a beast.

Yanky Doodle It's leveled. If you want it to be the best it can be (the stats he mentioned in the video), you'd have to enter Mercer's house at level 46 or later (once you enter the cell Chillrend is in, it's stats are permanently set according to your level).

I've checked every time of day and the gate is locked for me

wipeout911 look to the right of it, second fence you can pick the lock and get back there . sword is amazing
