Wow. Gotta love how Matchroom edited this. I was in the stands during this match and when Sky was down shooting the purple 5 ball in the 5th rack a woman sitting in front of me literally screamed out “I LOVE YOU SKY!” right in the middle of his shot then started laughing when he missed. Matchroom decided to edit that part out and didn’t really show the shot. It felt like that game changed the whole Mosconi Cup.

As an American, I cringe at the Americans in the crowd and apologize for their persistent yelling of "BORING". May have been funny during match 1, but after 15 matches it is seriously played out.

@@b.akaymoh I'll give the TL;DR up here: No, I don't think most people would find Spaniard as being disrespectful and I think either you're out of the loop or are simply petty about it. And for the original part: What? I thought the terms were interchangeable, though usually I say Spanish, or Spanish person. I don't think saying someone is "Spanish" is particularly correct, as usually it should be "Spanish person" or "Spanish girl" or "Spanish boy", etc. etc. A quick search reveals that "Spaniard" is a very common way of referring to a "Spanish Person". Here, from Wikipedia, is: "Spaniards,[a] or Spanish people, are nationals or citizens of Spain. Within Spain, there are a number of national and regional ethnic identities that reflect the country's complex history, including a number of different languages, both indigenous and local linguistic descendants of the Roman-imposed Latin language, of which Spanish is the largest and the only one that is official throughout the whole country." And here, from a reddit post, indicates a number of people do not find it derogatory, though a little bit old to be using nowadays: www.reddit.com/r/linguistics/comments/b59i25/is_the_term_spaniard_politically_correct/ And here, when searching up on Google, gives a basic definition of Spaniard: "noun a native or inhabitant of Spain, or a person of Spanish descent.", with no indication of it being derogatory (google does say when it believes so) And here, from Merriam Webster, "Spaniard noun Span·iard ˈspan-yərd : a native or inhabitant of Spain", no indication once again And here, from amazingtalker, "Spaniard is a noun. It is the demonym for individuals from the country of Spain e.g. “That Spaniard is my husband - he is from Spain.” or “There are a few Spaniards on the train at the moment.” Spanish is both a noun and an adjective, depending on context. As an adjective, Spanish refers to the description of Spaniards or description of anything related to Spain. e.g. “My father is Spanish - he is a Spaniard.” or “I have Spanish ancestry - my father is from Spain.” or “My favorite food is paella which is a famous Spanish rice dish.” As a noun, Spanish refers to the language that originates from Spain is is widely spoken as a native language in much of Latin America (excepting Brazil).", -- no indication once again And here, another reddit post from more recent times with a larger viewing, www.reddit.com/r/askspain/comments/10lpv4b/the_word_spaniard_and_why_its_not_offensive_and/, gives no indication of Spaniard being disrespectful. The only thing I have read online from multiple sources indicating that "Spaniard" is offensive or disrespectful is when it is used when specifically the person does not wish to be called a Spaniard, either because they are not from Spain but speak Spanish, or that they are from a specific place or ethnic group from Spain, and wish to be called from there. In other words, it is largely a neutral term, but when used against the person's will, in a disrespectful way, it is disrespectful. However, if we're going to go there, then any identifying term would be considered offensive in that case.

As a Spanish person (or spaniard, whatever you prefer), i don't find it offensive ._. Unless i'm missing something, "spaniard" is not offensive at all xD And @mastersanada is right, and i think that's the reason why a lot of words are offensive these days, because people use to consider a word to be offensive by itself, without considering if it was used with the intention of being offensive or not. Here in Spain sometimes we use swear words or insults as a way of greeting friends, and nobody gets offended by it. Any word can be disrespectful if you use it with that intention, but the opposite is true if you don't.
