Skylarks are now very rare due to the loss of their habitat. They nest on the ground and their eggs can be disturbed by dogs and foxes. They can make 3 or 4 nests a year to survive. We are lucky to have several nesting pairs close to the Ranch.
Wonderful bird habitat
At Shetland Pony Club we have the right habitat to encourage Skylarks. You can see these melodious birds singing above their nests and serenading their sweethearts on our new Skylark Trail.
