Just imagine being in a packed out pub with Shirley and the crew belting out this song. Australian rock royalty ... those were the days.

Used to work with Shirl and Red. Shirl was one of the kindest, friendliest men I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. We lost a great man unfortunately, but he died doing what he loved.

Kick arse band live. Tight always tight. Went surfing with Shirl at Curl Curl upto Whale Beach Tracks Headquarters were located there then we drove to Bondi Junction Motel for rehearsal at Hordern Pav They were peaking as a band and never met Shirl before we just connected I surfed I did music and I rode an old Triumph 650. We caught up a few times in the rush days here there where there back away back where there then Nice times. Ran into him in Cooroy area at a party just before he took a flight that never brought him back. I often when I get a rare wave at Sunshine Beach I always think of this song.

I first saw them live as they were starting out in '74 or '75. They were a double-header with AC/DC at a local venue, "Two Bands for Two Bucks". I'd never heard of either band... AC/DC were crap, and got booed off stage (Original lead, Dave Evans). Skyhooks were ELECTRIC. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJ2VqayYZNWrqqg.html

I only saw the Hooks once (what?!) and that was at Collingwood Town Hall. Great line-up with Sports and Jo Jo Zep. The Hooks were on fire, brilliant. Macainsh's bass was such an aggressive anchor to this song. It pummelled and uplifted the lucky audience. (Saw him in my local supermarket recently and wanted to tell him just that but chose to allow him his privacy. Maybe he'll see this comment). Thank you for what you did in the 70's along with so many great Oz bands.

Couldn't agree more Rod. The yank that did the production did a fantastic job on the studio version as with BBBBoogie'. Maybe it's the digital processing but a lot of bands used to sound way more powerful 'Live' but not anymore. I recently saw a video on YT of Stevie Wonder 'Live' in Germany 1974 playing Higher Ground' and that band is fuckin' Hammering.
