Wow! I've only seen the first ep, but right at the beginning there are two people shot with plenty of blood. And then there's all the scary talk about the aliens mutilating bodies and harvesting organs. I can't imagine my 5yo son watching this show (and I'm fairly liberal in what I let him see and what I teach and explain to him). He would be seriously scared all the time after hearing that stuff. Funny thing is, I always thought the US always allowed more violence on TV than anywhere else. But, apparently the UK at least had us beat in 69, unless there's a more violent US show from 69 that I'm not aware of. And, to top it off, they made toys for this show, so they were purposefully targeting it to kids in addition to adults.

Turns out I was wrong: UFO was sold in syndication to 136 stations in the US in 72 (no network picked it up, but some network stations individually picked it up in syndication). I have to say that UFO was one of the coolest TV shows I've seen--although nowhere near as good as The Prisoner. The UK always had better culture than the US. Without black people, the US would barely have any worthwhile culture. I didn't realize until today that Space: 1999 was done by much of the same team and grew out of a failed 2nd series for UFO. I loved Space: 1999 as a young child.

Of all of them, SID-1 was the best actor. ;) SID-1 was always my favourite part of that show. I practically lived to hear SID-1's voice calmly reporting on the approach of a UFO. I felt like that was a fairly realistic representation of how an A.I. would be programmed (socially, it's better to have a machine behave a bit like a human rather than force a human to behave more like a machine). I was quite upset (at least internally) when SID-1 got blasted out of orbit by a UFO and had to be replaced by SID-2. I never did quite understand how a single satellite could possibly cover all angles of approaching the Earth all of the time. I guess I put it down to Fictional Physics.

My Sci Fi Web Series. Probably not? That's not how being "advanced" works. It doesn't mean that you're better in all things. Just because the aliens had ability to create a craft that could travel at the speed of light does not mean that their ability to encrypt/decrypt data parallels it. In fact they may not even know what encryption is. Who's to say they even had a need for it? Heck, as far as understanding what information they transmit their language is probably as alien as they are, which would act as encryption all on its own.

If I did watch this I was too young and forgot about it. I ended up loving Space 1999 because my parents always watched it as it came out in the USA. And they did not like the fact I would not go to bed and stay up to watch it with them. I still love Space 1999 and watched it and had them all at one time on VSH. To see this and how much it is alike was a surprise at first. Space 1999 was much better yet it is nice to see where it started and what they learned that made it so great.

UFO, the cheap remake of Thunderbirds but with actors instead of puppets. For me the series is interesting only to learn how the makers of the series thought about the audience and how cheap the means were to produce to series. Even the German series "Raumpatrouille" was more advanced in some parts. But of course in UFO the skirts were shorter and it was in color.

Missed opportunity. At the very end, Straker should have agreed with Paul and made a cringy speal about how indeed they would never do that, said in a monotone. Then everyone looks at him and then at each other with worried faces. Straker (or his alien doppelganger!) looks smug as he walks back to his quarters.

The submarine can travel at 40 knots, previously mentioned. Can dive to 900 feet and the "aircraft" on the front is still flyable despite being built to withstand such depths. Must have a skin several inches thick. Flying tank.

It was a good video. But, it is not an actual episode of UFO. It is a compilation of 2 UFO episodes. The naval scenes and the scene where the SkyDiver goes dangerously deep are from the episode "Destruction" (episode 9) The bulk of this video is from "Reflections in the Water", (episode 24)..

Google translate seems to be saying that you have seen two UFO's. 2 actual UFOs in real life. I think I saw one as a child at age 12. I've seen many videos that show strange things as well of course. If they are real I don't think they want to destroy us or they would have done so already. We are too small for them to notice almost I feel. They would be a much more powerful thing than Fanderson's UFOs.

It is probably authentic Royal Naval equipment that was current when the series was filmed in 1970. I am not an expert but it looks like protection against burns from fire or explosion. Why they wear it in the radar room while officers on the bridge are in standard uniform is a question for some one who served at the time. I hope that helps answer your question.
