We missed him terribly on the field when he retired, but we still had him in the commentary box. But like Rob Key said: "That's done now". What a loss. Cherish what you've got people, never take it for granted. It can be taken from you at any time.

In my mid-30s, no longer playing (work, family, etc), I saw a 15-minute lunch interval clip of him talking about spin bowling on UK Channel4. Learned more in those minutes than from all the years of coaching (including from ex-county leg spinner), training, practice, and playing I had from age 8 to 30. Suddenly, I could spin hard both ways, control pace, flight, length, drift, loop like never before. Was a monster in the nets and wished I could have my cricket all over again - would have played two tiers higher level

Warney's legacy is the revival of the treasured art of leg spin bowling, which was virtually extinct in cricket at the time, robbing the sport of one of its fascinating facets and skills.Richie Benaud's commentary when Warne was bowling is a cricketing memory i will always treasure, because as a fine exponent of leg spin bowling himself, he knew exactly the thought processes and mechanics involved when Warne was setting an opposing batsman up for dismissal.Thank you Shane and Richie both for the great memories and you will both be sorely missed by every lover of the great sport of cricket.

What an extraordinary talent Shane was. Once he cemented his spot in the national team, he was hardly ever in bad form. The first to 700 Test wickets, finishing with nearly twice that of DK Lillee, a onetime WR holder for most Test wickets, further (in my opinion) vindicated the reverent status Wisden bestowed upon him. To hear the beautiful tributes, including from the man on the wrong end of THAT Ball in 1993, Mike Gatting. I, like so many others, so loved him, so STILL miss him. 🏏😢🏏 ❤
