Yes it's 379 at Walmart for the boombox That's a pretty Good deal. Thanks for doing this comparison. I was listening closely and it's clear to me that up until 60% in my opinion Skullcandy sounds better. But once you get up to 80% and 100% the boombox 3 sounds better. I'm just going on how it sounds I'm listening to it on my car radio via Bluetooth from my phone. I might have a different opinion in person but as I sit here there's no doubt that where I'm listening to it at it sounds better all the way up to 60 maybe 70%, but when you hit 80% and100% The Skullcandy doesn't really lose its bass but it doesn't gain much bass either. Once the Skullcandy hits 60% you have heard it's best. You really haven't heard its best on the boombox 3 until it gets to 60%. So I guess if you like to listen to your music down quiet you might be better off with the Skullcandy but if you are throwing a big party the boombox 3 would be the overall better choice because of the slightly lower distortion and louder volume after 80 and 100%

Thanks for confirming the Boombox 3 price, Matt. Yes, the Barrel does sound pretty good lower in volume and higher in volume it doesn't gain much output, so not as loud as the Boombox 3. Kind of a "dirty" sound from the Barrel in comparison to the Boombox 3. The upcoming $79 price for the Barrel is a great deal for a solid boombox.

The Boombox 3 had a pretty big sale during the Christmas season.

Perso j'ai la BB3 et le GROS avantage (en plus de ses basses profondes) c'est la CLAIRETE des notes, je ne regrette absolument pas mon achat. Par contre effectivement le Barrel a un avantage sur sa qualité/prix. Merci pour cette vidéo, je voulais savoir ce qu'elle avais dans le ventre la Barrel. :D

I bought the barrel for my birthday and it’s good speaker wish it had a app adjust the sound settings. I don’t really blast music a lot everywhere so it’s a pretty good speaker for 80$

Personally I prefer that there's no app. I think an app would somewhat "overcomplicate" things for no reason. I don't need another app on my phone just to play music on a Bluetooth speaker. I like that the bass boost is enabled through a simple button instead of a software

Having an app by the company is extremely useful and a big company not having app support for their speaker is lazy. That's liker saying I'm glad my car doesn't have GPS navigation because it's too complicated. I'll read a map instead because it's simple. 😂

It would be a lot simpler if the product you bought (the car aka the speaker) could just do what its supposed to do without needing to download software on your phone to make it work

@@Grod2161 where do you come up with no app= cheaper price? 😮Never heard anything like that before. Even the Tozo $36 PA1 speaker has an app and their new PA2, as well. Heck, the first generation Partybox speakers had no app available and they were very pricey.

Hello, I'm a skullcady fan, but my husband is a JBL fan. So recently, we found the Skullcandy Barrel in a pawn got it. My husband bought the JBL Boombox 3 at Walmart as well. We both test it, and the Skullcandy Barrel sounds more clear, like having headphones but very loud. But the JBL Boombox 3 is louder but a bit rougher. But it is great competition. Skullcandy is more style, and JBL is about the volume and boost. Thanks for this video. Now we own both of these speakers.

Skullcandy does have an app but just not for this. Hopefully it will be supported in the future. I got both of these speakers and the BB3 is better overall as it has more bass. The Barrel is nice tho for $80 which I just got as well. I like that the Barrel is more light weight as the BB3 had the power brick inside of it. I like the RGB lights! It's so nice that I got 2 of them but will be gifting one of them.

The Barrel seems way better up to 70% and then its sound becomes a bit muffled.. 70% and above the Boombox is way crisper and louder.. would be interested in battery life of the 2 at 60% and 80% for comparison.. price wise no competition Barrel comes in 1st there

Iv got an old SYLANIA THAT I SLAPPED some speakers on the side of an it pushes swell the JBL won this one on bass an clear sound with bass skull candy is great buy tho

Looking to get a speaker for physical education classes to use outside at the fields or inside in the gym, is the Skullcandy loud enough for that? Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up, i was able to cop the barrel, and the partybox 310 at 299, couldn't let that pass. The 310 sounds nice with the bass, I'll test out the barrel today. edit...got the barrel..i must say it's decent, esp. at the 80 dollar price. I wouldn't get it for the original asking. It has that headphone approach, where you have to be close to it to hear the goodness. But in the room, away, you won't really feel it's presence, with how big it is, pretty disappointing on skullcandy's end. I kind of expected better and i'm glad i only spent that much. The skullcandy crusher evos, paired up with ifi hip dac, or other amp close to it's power...talk about some head rumbling bass. that right there is nice. You feel the bass... barrel sounds good outdoors. Great price at 80.

The Crushers use haptic bass, which is kind of an artificial effect you can create with headphones. On the 310, download the Partybox app if you haven't already. Update the firmware and in the app EQ, bump up the treble 2 notches and the mids one notch. Leave the bass EQ as it is and enable Bass boost one (deep bass). The 310 sounds great to my ears set up like this.

@@JaysStraightUpReviews It makes sense, they need to go back to the lab and change it up to a Bluetooth speaker and not a Bluetooth headphone box. Good looks on the information... I'll download the app and adjust those settings. Bass boost one is the best one. Cleaner. The second one is a bit too muddy for punchy bass. A second deep bass boost would have been nice.

The 310 for only $300 is crazy. I got one a while back and it's super nice. I'm tempted to get another one to pair them up but I just don't have the space for it rn. I did just get two of these Barrels tho and also got the BB3 earlier this year for $380 or so.

@@volcalstone If you live near a brandsmart it's still 299. I have to stop getting Bluetooth speakers or gift some fam,friends I know. Space issue too. How's the BB3 in comparison to the barrel(s). I never heard it. But they do go on sale often, if you mess with eBay or don't mind like new refurbs from jbl for good prices too.

I even have a 2nd new HK Onyx Studio 6 that I got several months ago for only $100 that I still haven't open up the box for it. Just no space for the setup that I want with it. As for the BB3, I love it man. The Barrel sounds nice for the price of $80 but the BB3 has way more bass. The lower end bass that hits you that is. I'm not eyeballing the BB3 wifi. I knew about it before I got my BB3 but just thought it wwsnr worth it. If it goes on sale tho I will probably get it. Just kinda sucks that you can't pair it with a regular BB3 tho. It's the Chromecast that I want. It's similar to my older Sony speaker which sounds decent but JBL speakers are on another level tho. Sony speakers are more warm sounding overall and not really bass heavy like JBL speakers which I'm more into.

Anyone know how does the skull candy compare to boombox 2 tho ? Can get a used good shape boombox 2 for 100$ near me

Great review video. I got a question is there anyway where I can turn down the loud beep when ya turn down the volume all the way and when ya go to turn it off so it ain't so loud. I just got my skullcandy boombox today. It's just not the greatest when ya turn it off at night and it speaks very loudly at night. And when like a moment I turn down the volume all the way and it beeps extremely loud. Can it turned down or no if you happen to know.

I'm not aware of any way to turn that stuff off. It is annoying when companies make loud noises or voices for stuff like turning off or connected to Bluetooth notice. You should go watch that KMAG speaker video I did and the sonic bomb it drops when you turn it on.🤯

Because yeah that is the one thing Because I have searched all over the internet and here on KZread and nobody mentions about it being loud when it goes off and volume all the way down. Especially at night. You know like you don't want it blasting through the whole house. Other then that I like it especially the price. The price is what really got me into wanting the skullcandy that and how you explained it sounded at different volumes. Because it sounds great at a low volume. I haven't tried it yet turning the volume all the way up. But it sounds really good on your video though.

​@@JaysStraightUpReviews wanted to give my update on the barrel xt boombox since we both left comments back and forth 5 months ago. My barrel xt boombox mine lasted so far since November. Now it won't fully charge and won't hold a charge either. Skullcandy customer service is so horrible. I don't have a ups near me to send it back within warranty still. Because they send you a ups return label to your email and plus they want me to pay to send it back as well. I don't have no ups near me it's a hour and 20 mins away. They claim they can't send A postal return label. So I basically lose out on buying it and can't return it either.

Considering buying the barrel...am only interested in bass when it comes to speakers. How's the bass on the barrel compared with boombox?

The Barrel is now like $170, which is about $100 more than when it was on sale for Black Friday price that went on for a few weeks. The Boombox 3 is a better speaker in every aspect, IMO.

Just got mines today and i love it and im a bass head im not gonna compare it to the bb3 because at 170 it sounds awsome i would put it against the extrem 3 instead.... Edite im taking it back it dropped 30 percent charge in one minute nope return

If you are referring to the Tribit Blast, I still the the Blast is the better sounding speaker over the Barrel xt.

Boombox 3 is louder he didn’t have the bass and mid and treble all the way up instead the barrel had bass boost enable so u cant compare them

@@juanitoamador7423 not sure if you read it correctly, but the Barrel has a 12 hr battery and Boombox 3 a 24 hr. The Barrel is set up to have higher output at lower levels, but doesn't gain much output at higher levels. The JBL has a smoother and cleaner sound with a better soundstage than the Barrel. And the JBL bass is just so nice and powerful. The Barrel is a great deal at $79, but in no way, shape or form does it top the Boombox 3 for me. As for Sony.....Sony is always lagging behind with these speakers and they cannot figure out how to top JBL.

@@travisedmiston8001 yeah, the Barrel is lighter and kind of cheap-o build quality. If you pick it up it's a little creaky and very plastic. It has a small battery and no doubt less beefy drivers. The Boombox 3 has very impressive build quality and doesn't feel like a cheapy speaker when you pick it up. JBL uses some impressive drivers in their speakers that really deliver great sound. Of these type of speakers, the Barrel has the cheapest build quality, more so than even the Tribit Blast and Tronsmart Bang Max.
