13 Crystal Skulls: The Apocalyptic Legend Of The Ancient Skulls | Myth Hunters

In 1924, a young girl found an extraordinary object in the jungles of Central America. It was a beautiful skull from a single block of pure quartz crystal. All her life Anna Mitchell-Hedges claimed that her skull had telepathic powers.

You're introduction should actually start of by: "In 1924 a young fraudster and her father concocted a scam where they pretended to find a crystal skill in South America which they in actual fact bought on an auction." That would be more factually correct.

This program should be *introduced* as a work of fiction/myth, because none of the outlandish claims for the "Skull of Doom" have been verified. Even the details of its 'discovery' in Belize are purely anecdotal--not how archaeology is usually documented. It takes halfway in to get lab results covered, which I found a bit confusing. It's still a beautiful piece of gem carving, but that's it--the crystal skull does not know what you're thinking; it cannot 'save the world' etc. because it's a rock.

Adoptions were very common at the time, it was considered the mark of a good person and a good deed and probably was rewarded for his generosity in grants and notoriety. That said, often family or friends would trade thier children to benefactors for education and upbringing. It was called "taking in a charge". It was a proud thing to be able to do.

Every time I hear someone say something about how amazed people of the past would be by our technology (“they’d think we’re gods!”) I have 3 thoughts; 1. There have always been engineers & “scientists” (in the sense of searching for natural answers, not necessarily lab replication standards). It’s more likely you’d be brought to a curious mind who will take your technology apart to figure out how it works than be worshipped. And, if you do hit a superstitious or spiritual group, there’s also the chance of just being executed because you’re a threat. 2. Odds are whatever modern technology you’d be showing, from a cell phone to a lighter, YOU probably don’t understand how it works any better than they would. And you’re (hopefully) not worshiping Apple or Bic. 3. There is so much technology we’ve forgotten. You could go back in time & be awes by their technology. The Crystal skulls are a great example. Even the coral castle, a modern creation likely using forgotten methods. We don’t give people of the past the credit they deserve.
