Exactly, changing your guard to suit your defensive needs is what makes a good fighter. However, it is much, much easier said than done.

I really like the cross gaurd, my arms are short ( my body is like a mix between rocky marciano and roberto duran ) So my arms fit really tight around my body and face when blocking punches. Really apreciating the videos and learning the techniques that work best with my own body. Thank you

Isn't the vertical guard leaving you open to an opponent to close in and do an uppercut. That's the tactic Mike Tyson used all the time.

Amazing job pointing that out my friend! I am sure the inventor of the cross guard and all the fighters that used it will be like oh shit we forgot about the uppercut 😂 thank god this internet guy was smart enough to think of it.
