Uniseal is the best way to pipe into a ABS tank. Nice fix on that hole you drilled too big. Mistakes are made but the key is figuring out how to make it look that there was none. Your videos are very good. Thanks

Mike, wrap a piece of neoprene round those pipes where you are using the metal conduit tape. Believe me when i say that stuff is sharp and will vibrate cut it's self into the plastic. I also put a nut and bolt through it close to what i am supporting, that stops it moving in the vertical plane as well. Nice neat install :)

I would have to draw myself a whole diagram like 3 times to work out mistakes before I touch a pipe. Just did my gutted cottage. Came out nice! Wish I had the 3 way thingy...may add that and also use it in my box truck.

Loved this. I have a 26 gal grey tank to install and I learned a ton of info here. Thank You! Tank Mode/Tree Mode lol Now we need a Pee Mode. LOL I Heard a rooster in background. Oh and at 19:27 the cap on your glue was crooked...hope it didn't dry up. LOL Fair Winds and Smiles!!

Excellent job Mike........... Since you will be a moving house down the road, I would consider installing another pipe around your draining black pipe where your straps supports are hanging. Cut some waste water pipe about 2-3" wide and cut them in quarters, then glue them on the outside of your drain pipe where your straps supports are going. I would make a complete wrap around the pipe with the strap before they are secured to the bus frame. Then take a bolt and nut and tighten the strap to make sure the strap does not move on the drain pipe. So if, any wearing or cutting from the straps occur, they will be cutting the small strips of pipe you glued on the black pipe. This way, it will never be any problem of the strap cutting your drain. It is best to be safe and do it now then on the road which will never be convenient. Just my 2 cents worth........

I would have cut a service hatch in the side of the bus for that long pipe to thread through, just in case it needed to come out, fix a leak etc, but otherwise nice work again Mike.

Mike, what did you use for bushings going up through the floor to protect the drain pipes from rubbing?

I like all your videos but am curious as to how you are doing with regard to the actual gvwr on the bus. It seems like you are adding a lot of weight but I am not sure how it is with the gvwr. Just a curious question thanks and keep the video coming cAnt wait to see the final bus conversion

I hope that you put extra strapping on. There will be allot of vibrations and movement while driving the bus down these bumpy streets

Where is your Hepvo for the washing machine? Are you putting on the inside of the enclosure for the washing machine?

Actually, the shower and washing machine water both go through the same Hepvo, right before it goes into the tank (after the 2-way Big Ol' Honker Valve). In the video, this is where Mike was sawing at 6:25 because he had forgotten the Hepvo! 😂 If we end up having any odor from the washing machine drain pipe, we could install another hepvo valve there quite easily later on. ~K

Do you have to winterize or insulate external drain pipes? I’m researching to do my own conversion and just wondering how that all works.

If you read the BLM full rules. Gray is OK to let out on the ground unless local laws prohibit it. In Arizona the state has a law that prohibits gray water that has had body contact. So sink water ok but not shower water. I'm working on a system to filter gray to flush with and spray on the dusty roads.

I am not looking forward to this part of my build. I did not know that kitchen sink water was considered black water and can not go to ground. I am going to have to reconsider my existing plan, I like the valve to allow the shower water go to ground, when allowed to do so. I don't think you can do that in Texas though. @@rekostarr7149 I don't recall where I read/heard that over a year ago but iirc it had something to do with the food waste/grease/oils from food prep and dish washing in the water that deemed it to be black water and there for could not be dumped on the ground directly. This definition for black/gray and the rules of being directly dumped to ground of probably vary from state to state like a lot of laws/rules do.

So..... what are the plans for the old ambulance next to the bus? Just curious.

What about grease build up plugging the vent?

Ewwwwwwww, I just visualized that...! Well, I'm kind of a sink-nazi when it comes to grease and I'm OCD about plate scraping, so I'm hoping we'll be ok! But now you made me wonder if people ever clean their tanks with Drano or something??? LOL! 😂

That patch looks like it will make the connection stronger, more dependable. Happy little accident ?

The only thing I don't quite understand is that it looks like you have to go under the bus to change the valve direction every time you wash clothes or take a shower. Or else leave it on that direction and change it to use the sink. Ideally, I guess having the valve inside the bus would be wonderful, but I admit that would seem to be impossible. Maybe I am just confused... 🙄

I guess it would depend on how long we would stay in an area. Drinking and moving every day would be hard on both of us. We plan to stay 2 weeks st a time. Switching to internal draining will be on the "preflight list".

The sink always drains into the gray tanks. The shower and washer can be switched (together) from tank to ground.

I always knew levels were overrated

So "downunder" so called "black" water only comes from the shitter.... all other water is "grey". you had me confused for a minute as you guys have a composting toilet as will I & I don't need a "black" tank. :)

Hi Paul, FYI waterwally.com.au/greywater-systems-australia/kitchen Kitchen greywater is generally considered as a black water as it contains high levels of greases, oils and detergents and must be treated before it can be safely used a greywater resource.RegardsRory

Yes, you are correct. The only difference is, in the United States, almost universally, sink water cannot be dumped straight to ground. The laws vary state from State. So, we lumped the sink water into our Black-ish water hence why we will be dumping that instead of passing it on to the ground.

Fyi your drain is going to be a bitch to line up at rv dumps or hooking up in a rv part where all stick and staple rvs the dump is on the driver's side

My bad, It was looking like you had the dump on the same size that mine was on... I got my skoolie already converted and had been changing things as I went to upgrade and fix problems just never got to swapping the tanks
