Skoll and Hati - Eaters of the Sun and Moon | Pantheon Mythology

While their appearances are brief within Norse Mythology, as little is written outside of their role within Ragnarök, a series of events, foretelling the demise of a significant number of great figures, natural disasters, and thus the end of the world. The role of Skoll and Hati is pivotal, devouring the sun and moon, causing a darkness to fall across the lands.

The story of Ragnarok is kind of funny. Had Odin decided to not do anything after learning about it it would have most likely not happened. Much like Tier eating his children

It was probably a warning of self fulfilling prophecy and the reason Odin didn't kill wolves was because he had a deal to never harm lokis kin since wolves are lokis kin he is literally unable to harm them without breaking his oath and in Norse culture an oath breaker is dishonest and typically killed for their actions usually by the one who they swore the oath to so if he killed a wolf loki would have the right to take his life otherwise he would of killed all wolves to stop the prophecy instead of binding them like fenrir lokis kin come in multiple shapes the wolves are one fenrir being his child the world eater is another one and one of the most famous or infamous ones was odins 6 legged steed which loki took the form of a horse and let's say had affairs with a horse

these stories people think as mythology when in actuality it descibes actual evets that take place on earth every so often called the phoenix phemon. it brought on the dak ages and also what the book of velations speaks of, the apocalypse. these stories simply tell a story of what happens but are now beleived to be just mythology.

@Pantheon Mythology Do you think that Skoll and Hati chased the sun and moon to fool Odin, buying time until their allies were ready or until their father/grandfather were freed? Sol and Mani would watch the world as they rode. So Skoll and Hati were able to watch the world unfold as well

It’s where how they are also tie into the idea of Ouroboros, which essentially the snake that is eat it’s own tail. But in the context of the Norse, it’s both of em trying to devour the day and night to open the events of Ragnarok.

Most pagan religion like Norse or Rome pagans are labeled pantheon religions because they are a pantheon of God's instead of a one God religion like Christianity a pantheon is best described as a group of gods making up a religion so basically any religion with more than one God is a pantheon including Azteca and even Native American religions it's more if a general title than the religions name like Norse and Rome are pagans but Natives and Azteca aren't technically considered pagans plus paganism is also originally a term that the Catholics labeled people that didn't believe their religion and is actually a derogatory term because original Catholics were unaccepting of others believes that they killed people who didn't believe in God
