My key fob made it to 21 years. This video was easy to follow and the narrators voice was pleasant. I liked the groovy sound track as well. ☕😉👍🏻👍🏻 Luckily, working with computers a lot, I had a fresh CR2032 on hand. Double bonus! 2002 Skoda Octavia, 100600 miles.

If the keys don't work after changing battery try pressing the unlock button on the key fob and then unlock the door within 1 minute to synchronise the key to the car.

Hello, I have a fox too and I’m not sure if I need a new battery for the key because when I press the buttons on the key, the key fob flashes red but my car doesn’t unlock? Was this the same for you? Kind regards

@@Superwoman006 hello yes, it just needs a 3v battery i blieve. i think there is a video on yt on how to change it on the polo/golf i used this and it worked.

Its the same key as used in the early/pre 98 golf mk4 Thankyou the vw specialists dont seem to know this.

After 19 years it needs change. 😅 Thanks mate.

I believe you can. I want to do this too sometime so will post a video. I think there is an issue in getting the 3 button boot auto-unlock to work, so will have to research that. Thanks for reminding me :-)

First check the connections on the A pillar then the wires behind the rubber gator for chaffing spits etc and repair if necessary. Then, replace the drivers side door lock or micro-switch within. Make sure key fob battery it good also car battery.

Hi! I did everything just as you explained, even tried with thre different new batteries, still won't work. The little red light won't dissapear. What should I do?

It maybe that one of the buttons have gotten stuck on. You might not notice from the outside shell as the button is on the circuit board inside the key. The outside is just a cover.

These keys are a bit old school and can be upgraded to the flip key I believe. Would like to do that sometime, not least to show how it can be done. There aren't many covers online from what I could see ;-(

If anyone has a problem with a central lock (after changing battery still does not work) TRY TO FOLD BACK METAL CONTACTS. In my key those two contacts were bent too much and there was no contact with the plate in the second side of the key. When I folded them little to the center, the key started working. Red diode must light when you press open/lock. Then you know everything is fine. [PL] Jeśli po wymianie baterii nadal centralny zamek z pilota wam nie działa, spróbujcie odgiąć dwa metalowe styki w środku kluczyka (te nad baterią) do środka. Żeby były bardziej odgięte i tworzyły literę V. U mnie kluczyk wtedy zaczął działać, a czerwona dioda mrugać przy naciskaniu. Zamek był w porządku, moduł komfortu, bezpieczniki itd. Problem był z kluczykiem. A konkretnie z metalowymi mikrostykami w jego środku. Pozdrawiam.

my skoda fabia's Front side passenger door was not closing...all doors are closing when I lock from driver side..and sometimes when I forgot about close window than I was able to close them by key lock from driver side ...now I Hv 2 problem.. 1..door lock of passenger Front side 2..mirror was not closing from out side by key

The wiring loom going into the driver door by pillar needs a look at as well as all electrical connection/fuses and battery fully charged. The drivers side door locks on these go after prolonged use as the microswitch wears out and tells the car it is locked. window motor on dr/door controls/links passenger side. Hope this helps :-)

Wait, Fabia key? I have key like this in mu ’04 Octavia 🤔 I had the proper octavia key on my previous octavia.. what kind of sorcery is this. But thanks for the tip how to change the battery, I was here mainly for that 🙌

Have you shut all doors/boot? Can you manually unlock the car and start it? Is the door jammed? see vid: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pal2j9BsYLyweMo.html. First port of call is try your other key if you have one, then fit another battery that you know is good. pair them with the car by pressing a button then locking/unlocking the drivers door. Then if still no luck you could either use VAG COM to find a fault code if you have access to this or another thing it could be is the micro switch in the drivers door, which can cause this type of thing to happen. These are a common thing to go on older cars, replace the door lock unit. will do a video on this at some stage, hope this helps :-)
