Skitarii is an umbrella term that covers most Mechanicus military units so there is a lot of variation. There are elite units on the tabletop and/or lore which are feared and respected which come under the Skitarii, and other elite Mechanicus which aren't technically Skitarii (like combat focused Tech Priests and Titan legions). What this video refers to as barely above servators are the main Skitarii Rangers and Vanguard who form the mass infantry and crew most vehicles. The Mechanicus controls hundreds of Forge Worlds which are usually extremely densely populated and with a massive industrial base so these grunts, while equipped as well as Imperial Guard Stormtroopers, are numerous and easily replaceable tools.

There is a PC game called Adeptus Mechanicus is about a expeditionary force sent to the planet Silva Tenebris to investigate to retrieve or purge (the game gives you this choice) technology of some Necron (space terminator with an ancient Egypt motif). While dare you take control of some Tech Priests and lots of skiitari forces... It plays like XCOM and have an amazing soundtrack. Take a look I think it's pretty cheap rn...

Interestingly, in the genestealer cult novel "Day of Ascension" the veteran Skitari, after returning to homeworld, were able to remember their past and connection to the genestealer cult, and actually rebelled against their techpriest's orders. Genestealer DNA is so strong, it can actually override their programming. Surprisingly, the book actually portrays this scene as triumphant and heart-warming. These metal men are about to kill the cultists, but then suddenly drop their weapons and start embracing their family members they recognise. They take over the planet and leave to take over new worlds just as the Hive Fleet arrives.

It’s weird because all their art is of human looking robots, when in lore they’re almost always augmented with extra arms, legs, and other mechanical upgrades

They're more like living drones, they carry out any orders a Magos gives them, and a Magos can upload his/her consciousness into a skitari and control them to better gain battlefield information

Just don’t let them near your vulnerable, innocent kitchen appliances

It’s said that if the skitarii are deployed, then the battle is already won. The mechanicum’s prediction engines account for all variables, and will adjust the time,place and order of battle until victory is certain. All that’s left is to wait.

When they say unquestioning, they mean it. One of the forge worlds in the Octuras Rift had skittari intentionally getting swallowed by mawlocks and trygons just so they could shoot their innards.

My favorite aspect of the Skitties is that, depending on their magos, they differ so much that one group may be emotionless fleshbots made from press-ganged hivers and another would have full personalities and willingly sign up to serve their beloved Omnissiah.

Imagine a Darktide like game called ForgeWorld or something like that were you have to fend off an Ork invasion (kinda like Space Marine, but with the Mechanicus force).

This would have been a great faction in the first Dawn of War game.

Also, groups of them are found on Warlord and larger Titans to counter attempted boarding actions.

Oh hey I didn't know the Skitarii still had their individuality, that makes them cooler.

In the book warlord it talks how secutari act as a single entity in battle firing with absolute precision

It's so funny how the adeptus mechanicus are still a part of the human empire

not strictly, it really really depends on who's writing them. Generally in combat yes they will follow the tech priest's orders but they will also think and will take their own initiative so long as they are given the freedom to do so. Sometimes a tech priest really does need them to stand there and die, other times they need them to do _something_ and will accomplish that task with single minded purpose

The fact that they armed with best weapons that imperium have make them scarry af. Not even that, they make best weapon that imperium have and then just go "Nah, that not good enough, i make my own gun"

"Computers with guns" still hit on a 4+ though. which means if they shoot at a barn sized knight or titan they hit on a coinflip.

With their ability to calculate odds and develop strategies, I would follow all the tech priests’ orders instantly too. It’s logically the best thing to do to survive longer.

See, if I started an Admech army, I would have a Warlord Titan "Ossis Seosorum" (Bone Apart. Bonaparte) lead it, followed by a metric ton of Skitarii painted like a French Napoleonic army, and have the most militant metal version of "The Marseilles" play from Laud Hailers mounted on the Titan. Princeps Senioris...Auspex detects an engine approaching, at extreme range. Noospheric data analysis identifies the engine signature as the 'Dies Irae', an Imperator-Class, traitor titan. The battalion will echelon right twenty degrees, and advance to engage the 'Dies Irae' and it's support elements! All artillery units will select the enemy engine as primary target. May the Omnissiah guide our aim.

If you left click on someone with the brain burst it charges slightly faster and you don’t have to look at them past the first click. The right click is so you can charge it before you see some one like a reeaally bad fusion rifle.
