Very interesting interview ! A shame Morey is cut off mid sentence at the end. Always liked the quick witted comedian Morey Amsterdam. Incredible life & career. Though, as always, Skip drives me up the wall with his constant interruptions. And Skip didn't do his homework in regards to Dick Van Dyke. Mr Van Dyke was open about his alcoholism by the mid-70s & has been sober since then. No date is given for this video but it's clearly from some time after 1980.

He states he was born and raised in San Francisco but his Wikipedia page says he was from Chicago and didn't go to California until he was an adult

Morey never told Skip that he was sued for plagiarizing a calypso when he travelled to Trinidad and Tobago in 1942 to entertain the U.S. troops there when he heard the classic "Rum And Coca Cola". He gave it to the Andrews Sisters who realized a mega hit with it. Morey claimed to have composed it which was a blatant lie. He was sued for usurping another's Intellectual Property. The hearing was in New York and famed attorney Louis Nizer represented the interests of the true composer . Morey lost the case and had to pay the composer, which, in the day didn't really amount to much . (That was not funny, Morey). a t lie.
