Might've had to strike some kind of deal with them to get the dog out of there. I don't know how these things work. People get away with horrible things all the time in this world, and that sucks, but every dog rescued is a win and should be celebrated.

Unfortunately, these dogs would be considered "evidence" and are unable to be adopted out for years, and would be forced to stay at a shelter the entire time. So instead of forcing more stress onto the animals they just drop the cases and try to get these dogs homes.

I had a Doberman too, I got him when he was just a puppy I loved him so much but when he got big I had to give him away 😭💔because I didn’t have a yard for him to play and run because those dogs are super active , and they need big spaces to play and run around and I didn’t had that at that time so it really broke my heart , and now that I saw this video it made me cry 😢 because I don’t understand why people want to have animals in their homes if they’re not going to care of them .

Leaving Chucky like that was so deliberately cruel, the owner even blocked Chucky from being able to see anything beyond that horrible prison he was in. Starving, nowhere comfortable or sheltered to lie down, deep holes all over the ground where it looked like he had tried to escape, and no one to let him know that he's important and his life matters. I'm so glad that Chucky's owner was willing to surrender him so that he can have a much better life. Instead of a terrible lonely cage, he'll have a real home, and instead of owners he'll have a family. ❤❤

I think the owners blocked his cage so no one would see the dog turning into a living skeleton. They knew what they were doing was horrendous.

Starvation is a slow, painful process. It was sickening to see this poor sweet soul so abused, and when they switched to the "after" part I choked up. He is BEAUTIFUL! Gods richest blessings to all involved in saving Chucky. Please keep us updated on him!! ❤

I'm confused. What do you mean you had to convince Chucky's owner to surrender him? Why wasn't Chucky confiscated by animal control? Why wasn't Chucky's owner arrested for neglect and abuse??

Unless dogs don’t have a shelter with food and water, the government and animal control can’t do anything about it because of their laws. So they either have to negotiate with the owner of the animal or try their best to help the poor dog from its living conditions. In this case, since the Doberman had shelter and probably given some food and water from time to time, his rescuers were forced to have to negotiate a deal with the owner just to be able to take him into their care.

What's worse is they probably got another one soon after. Animal shelters here are full, others are upping their euthanizations to make room for younger animals. News reports are saying folk are abandoning pets bc of costs, who can keep pets when one can't find a place to rent let alone a pet friendly place...

I thought that when she was surprised that Chucky was eating the broccoli. Starving dogs get rescued all the time with their stomachs full of rocks and garbage, because they were desperate enough to eat anything just so that their stomachs wouldn't feel empty. It makes me cry every time I see a video like that. I just watched one the other day...someone dumped a puppy in a sewer, and by the time he was found, he was emaciated and his stomach was full of garbage from the sewer floor.😢 Tying a dog up outside a shelter in the middle of the night is bad enough, but people who dump dogs they don't want anymore make my blood boil!! 🤬😢

I was doberman rescue for Connecticut and NYC. I rescued some dobermans that were in horrific conditions. I rescued 200 and not one was aggressive. They are beautiful, regal, intelligent dogs.

Oh…this makes me wax nostalgic for the pre-op Dobie I fostered for 10 days this past January. Otis was the doofiest canine I have ever encountered, and I loved every minute of it. The first night he followed me in to my bedroom, and, while brushing my teeth, he chose to jump up, stretch out, and make himself comfortable across my queen-size bed. I had to slip in, and push and push his legs out of the way to claim about 18 inches of mattress space! I checked on Otis last week when I had to bring in my current foster. He came out of consecutive surgeries/recoveries really well, and will soon be eligible for adoption. His new owner will have the best time with this lovable doofus!
