They both looked really evenly applied and stayed pretty well on the face after those vigorous activities. So I guess it is pretty evident that the Reddit List was flawed since their testing was not skin application. Thank you for sharing!

I believe somebody posted a picture of someone who wore the essence sunscreen and showed how uneven the protection was in front of the UV camera. Reddit is blocked in my country, but i saw an influencer who posted that picture on instagram. I don't believe in that picture. We don't see the video of the model applying the sunscreen. We could only see how uneven a sunscreen looked in front of the UV camera with a Skin Aqua UV Moisture Essence (the gold tube) being put at the bottom of the picture. She might've worn another sunscreen and somebody edited it out. Who knows? We can clearly see how even the application was in this video. But i don't know whether or not this sunscreen passed the test. We can only know if there's an official statement/announcement that we can fully trust.

I could definitely tell a difference with the gold bottle. The initial application was the same but as the day went on and you did the wear test, the side with the gold bottle was still a bit darker and more effective I think as it appeared to last longer. It does go to show that you should reapply your sunscreen every few hours especially if you’re sweating! I love your UV camera videos! 👍🏻

I think you are right, watching it again I think there was a difference, even a subtle difference can probably Make a huge difference on a daily basis.

A company used to sell those uv cameras, but they don't any longer so converting our old camera was an interesting process, but it's been a good learning tool so far!

I loved this!!!!!! I use the pearl bottle and have actually enjoyed using sunscreen for once in my life. Doesn’t break me out or sting my eyes, love it!!

Great how they actually mostly stuck to you even though you were sweaty!

Hi Sarah I think the UV camera is really interesting to reveal "skip" areas - the hairline, bridge of nose etc. It does get lighter as time goes on though and this was evident. I try to make sure i don't get skip areas by applying twice - apply once let dry down and 10 minutes later apply again paying attention to the nose, chin, forehead and cheeks (plus chest). This seems to work for me, but I have very dry skin (even in Summer). Best wishes.

Many dermatologists say that it’s crucial to reapply your sunscreen every two hours in case you’re working in an office with windows where the sunlight can come through or if you’re doing outdoor activities (swimming, walking etc..) This is because sunlight affects your sunscreen efficiency as well as the water even if it’s written water resistance on the sunscreen bottle you must reapply it to avoid any sun damage.

Very interesting, thank you. I’ve used the gold skin aqua, but I’ve found for me, that it burns around the eyes after wearing for a while, and I can’t tolerate a reapplication in the eye area at all. A better skin aqua for me is Skin Aqua UV super moisture gel, the one with the pump bottle. I’ve sourced some Bioderma through smuggling to the US 🤣 and use this if I’ll be outside all day. I find the bioderma creme a bit thick for normal everyday use, but who’s looking when I’m in swimming is my thinking. Thanks for the video.

I'm with you, the Bioderma is my go to for days I'm outside a lot, it isn't the most fun to apply, but I'd rather go through that when I know it's very sunny out or I'm outside all day. Getting really good at smuggling!

I'm so excited for this review. I've been using the Pearl bottle Aqua sunscreen almost for a year now and it works good for me. But I'm not sure if the hylaronic acid in the sunscreen dry out my face 😔 I do apply it on top of a moisturizer.

I'm not a big fan of HA, especially in sunscreens. I think if you're in a drier climate it probably can dry your skin out. Kind of annoying so many brands use it.

@@NOBSBeauty you just confirmed my suspicion. It always dries out my face when I am in the office with the A/C on unless I use a good moisturiser underneath. Wow!! I tot it's the alcohol, gosh. My face will dry out and start to draw me like feel very tight

@@jjayjae_ I *think* these thinner liquid/gel type sunscreens are recommended for indoor or minimal outside use because people are less likely to apply a thick enough layer to get the protection listed on the bottle. A thicker lotion type sunscreen will require less product/effort to get the correct amount. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong though!

It would be great if you could show coverage of "Skin Aqua uv super moisture gel" (White bottle, Gold cap). I believe, this is their most popular sunscreen because of amazing lightweight texture. Recently some reddit uv camera posts have come to surface showing that its application is blotchy under UV camera. Would be really great if you could show their coverage with UV camera as well. Hey can you test out the EU sunscreen mists for reapplication? I know they aren’t the best but lab muffin has a good method to apply the enough amount Just wondered what this looked like under a UV sunscreen :)

I believe the gold bottle has better UVA protection with Uvinul A Plus and Tinosorb S, where the white bottle/gold cap only has Tinosorb S. So that might be something to consider as well.

@@NOBSBeauty Does the Pearl bottle have less of a white cast then? I bought the gold Essence and it left a cast on my darker skin that is hard to rub in. Ironically, I bought it because I wanted something that wouldn’t leave a cast.

I was watching this with bated breath as the pearl one is my everyday sunscreen and idk my eyes might be off but they seemed to hold up 🙌🏽

So I was on utube and something came up on the adds so I clicked it was called lab geek skincare it looks promising have you heard of them they are having a sale and the prices are pretty good before their sale they are fragrance free all that and I noticed on their retinol they disclosed the amount to, just thought it was a good thing to look into being pretty good ingredients fragrance free and pretty cheaply priced . * lol u love that new uv camera

The pearl bottle burned my face so badly, it was the alcohol. Im extremely sensitive to alcohol in skincare (which is hilarious to everyone who knows me) and this is how I found out. Love the skin acqua moisture milk in pink and blue though...

My skin can handle some alcohol in sunscreens, but only for a day or two, otherwise it does get really dry and itchy if I use it more than two days in a row.

The Gold version burned my skin so bad as well. I had high hopes😩😩 felt really nice and moisturizing but woke up with red blotches on my neck and all over my face😭😭😭

I haven't tried it but did some research online. It looks like some people really are loving it, and others noticed some tanning and darkening while using it. Next time I place an order on stylevana I'll have to pick it up since it is quite affordable. So there was a company that was making them, but I think they have been out of stock for a very long time. We retro-fitted a camera using a special lens and sent it out to a company to have this camera specially made. It wasn't a cheap process, but the SunscreenR is worth watching to see if they ever come back into stock.

I've used the blue bottle version of skin aqua. I don't trust it though. I had some skin discoloration after being in the sun for a couple hours. It made me hesitant to try other versions.

I think I'd also be a bit nervous. It seems like a lot of their sunscreens are really formulated and geared towards the Japanese climate which might not make them ideal for use everywhere. I think most people, including myself, forget to take some of that into account when testing these sunscreens.

Maybe next time measure the amount you use on each half of your face so it's a better comparison i.e. 1/8 of a tsp on each side. The one that is supposed to be better didn't fare as well as claimed if I were just looking at how dark that side of your face and hand look. And thank you for exposing your skin to the sun in the name of science ;-)
