@@MasterJimJim The guy was minding his own business and was physically knocked onto the ground. Most people are not going to be happy after that. That's the part where the idiot with the camera should have apologized instead of telling the guy it was his own fault. Personally I would have been more patient, but then again, I also would apologize to someone if I caused them to get knocked over. At any rate, the number one and two rule at literally all resorts is to remain in control and avoid people/objects downhill of you. It is always the responsibility of uphill riders to avoid people downhill and people downhill always have right of way. Period. If you know anything about boarding/skiing you'd know people will ride the entire trail from one side to the other. You don't have to climb into the woods if you want to stop. The general guideline is to stop somewhere visible and use some common sense ( don't stop right under a jump, in the middle of a trail merging, etc). The place he stood was 100% fine and normal and it had nothing to do with why he was hit anyways. Your comment about self awareness makes exactly zero sense. Nothing in your post logically leads to that.

It was a child. Period. This guy completely overreacted. You can tell how uncomfortable the child was too his head was on a swivel before he decided to ascend. I would’ve defended my son if some dbag jumped down his throat for something like this. Share the mountain. If you’re gonna stand anywhere you NEED to be aware of the people ABOVE YOU. Which way was the dbag standing when he was hit?

I had one experience like this in my lifetime of skiing. 2 little kids were on their hands and knees playing on a ski jump in the terrain park. There were a ton of people backed up waiting to go through the jumps. I skied down and asked if they were with somebody and they pointed to their dad standing down the hill on skis. So I skied down to him and said there's about 30 people waiting to go off the jump. I told him I was worried about his kids getting injured if somebody gets inpatient and goes off that jump. Dad lost his sh*t and so I skied off. In one turn I noticed he abandoned his little kids and was chasing after me so i headed for the singles line at the main chair lift. I basically skied right onto the lift and told the operator what was happening. As I was getting scouped up by the chair the guy had ditched his skis and was running at me with his ski pole like a spear lol 2 lift operators grabbed him and held him back. Next time I went to the chair I asked what happened and they had pulled his ticket and kicked him out.

Whether or not you run into jerks has a lot to do with how you conduct your own self. If you never have that issue it might be a sign you are reasonable and decent. The dummy with a camera didn't just "run into an angry person." He caused a guy who was minding his own business to get knocked over and instead of apologizing he told the guy it was his own fault. The guy with the camera probably has these situations in his life all the time because he's a total tool.

I’m not a skier, but when I was a kid my grandma lived in Utah and we would fly there to see her once every few years and she would take us skiing and I gotta say, the instructors always made me feel really good about myself. One of my best childhood memories was being on the slopes in Utah with the coolest ski instructor. Older local rich kids would gang up on my brothers and I. I beat one in a race thanks to my instructors advice. Well it was kind of against his advice, but I won and he was so happy he couldn’t be mad at me. the kid was speechless and scurried off mad salty. I’ll never forget that.

Would like to hear an explanation from the videographer why he didn't redirect to this left (where there is ample room on the slope); instead, he forced the kid to take off when he may not have been ready, leading to the collision with the skier. My take on this video is that the videographer is wrong; there is no reason he needed to nearly collide with the kid, there was plenty of room for him to go around the patrons stopped on the slope.

You'll see shit like that happening all the time on the slopes, 99% of people will just laugh it off as they should. The only real issue here was the guys behaviour after it happened. Getting aggressive, abusive, trying to physically intimidate people by getting in their faces, standing on their skis. And on top of that, he INTENTIONALLY runs into the guy in black. That, I do care about. He deserves to get chucked off the slopes with that behaviour.

Walk up to gobby bully boy (they always - always instinctively take a step back to a big bloke) and quietly invite them to have a crack at you. They wouldn't know how to! Rub it in by raising a finger up in front of their face and watch them take a second step backwards. The end. There are very few blokes prepared to have a go.

He started a fight with a child when even he says the child "almost ran right into [him]" and "could have hurt both of us"... Exactly. Nothing bad happened until the guy shouted at and called a child stupid, then continued to escalate things getting in the face of the other guy and saying "F U" and "blow me" etc. Not exactly exemplary adult behavior. In fact it's a pretty good example of how NOT to deal with that situation. It doesn't surprise me that that guy was skiing alone or was instantly disowned by the people he was with, but the other people in the video had people with them. If you want to take a break and rest mid-trail or wait for a friend to catch up, you do it over on the edges to either side. Standing in the middle of a trail as he is is just asking to get crashed into, not to mention poor etiquette because you are rendering a major portion of the trail unusable by parking yourself there.

Wow, talk about an innocent situation getting totally out of control and beyond what it was!. The way I see it, both parties are to blame!. A simple "sorry" from the kid or his dad about running into the other guy would have been a good start. That said, it is just a kid we are talking about, and the guy who the kid ran into totally unnecessarily over-reacted in a big way too. Ski/snowboard alpine code says the skier/boarder should give way to whoever is below them on the slope, so technically one could argue the kid was in the wrong. The irony is, it looked like the kid was trying to get up and out of the way in a hurry because is looked like his own dad (with the camera) was about to run into him.....The fella who got hit was also to one side of the run, and not right in the middle. What we have here on BOTH sides is ego taking over from good manners and common sense. Everyone just needed to chill out rather than get agro. Shit, isn't that was snow sport is all about? I had a similar situation years ago...a person said something to my daughter, and flipped her off, she was 12, and she looked older..when I came over, he was already walking away, and I asked my daughter who he was?..I thought she knew him. And they were joking around...she started getting tears in her eyes...I went and found him, and brought him back, and made him apologize. ...he said, " I thought she was older.".and "I thought I heard her say something about my truck"..lol...well, when he saw my shadow about to introduce itself, he had a change of heart...I love my daughter, and was getting ready to open his hood, and perform a tune-up. ..thank God it went smooth, we still laugh about it.

Alpine Responsibility Code rule 3: Do not stop where you obstruct a trail. The Skier who dramatically threw himself on the ground as a small child gently barely bumped into him then immediately started shouting abuse at said small child, seemed like he was picking a fight... with a kid... But yeah, both of them should have just let it go. The guy filming should have apologized, even if the guy was an ass hat. And pointing out he's breaking rule 3 before apologizing when you've cocked up isn't the best way not to escalate things.
