Skidsteer road grader attachment - first time operator - Kubota SVL 90-2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Dirt Perfect rented out the Kubota SVL 90-2 and his road grader attachment so i could grade out a fresh load of stone on a section of private drive. Just like any attachments, it takes seat time and you have to crawl before you can run. Also some more drone footage with the Mavic Mini of barges on the Ohio River.

    I MUST say this Cap. Your line of thinking about making good to Mike for the poor engineered design of the grader attachment is TOP NOTCH!!! This is how I was raised and yes seemed EVERY time I borrowed something from my grand father to use, the darn things broke someway .😆 My dad always told me "if you use someone else stuff, you return it to them better than or as good as you got it. You just don't see that kinda thing these days.😒 SO proud of you sir and to see that at the least NOT EVERY one has forgotten how to be a "REAL MAN"!!! GREAT JOB!!

    Great video, interesting how you and your neighbors pitch in to be a volunteer highway department. That attachment seems to work pretty good, too bad the wheel forgot how to roll, I hate when that happens. Time for the inevitable upgrade to the wheels. I was thinking flags on the ends of the blade might help, maybe you can find some nice pink flags to spruce it up for mike, maybe something from the children’s bicycle department. Stay safe, warm, and fun.

    Don't feel too bad captain, we had a couple of truck mounted brooms when I was working, and we had to keep a couple of spare tires and wheels for them. Our steering wheel holders would destroy one at least every couple of weeks. We finally ended up with 10 ply tires foam filled to get much work out of them. You're not the first to break one of these assemblies.

    The newer wheels will probably be worse how things are built these days. I'd probably just weld it back up and then weld some small gussets from the hub to the wheel. Be super easy and just cost you a little bit of time and definitely be stronger than the new ones but the bearings and hub looks to be fairly light duty too.

  • @tiredoldmechanic1791
    @tiredoldmechanic17914 жыл бұрын

    The second scariest thing in the world, a truck driver with tools! 😉 I think that wheel was wobbling in previous videos of that attachment. It probably needs a wheel that bolts to a hub. We had a sweeper attachment for a Cat IT28 loader that was designed to be used with the boom in the float position and adjust the height using the tilt function. The operators couldn't seem to figure out how to lock it into float without blowing the sweeper tires trying to lift the front wheels of the loader off the ground.

    I've never ran one of those attachments, but the wheels do look a little cheap. Like cheap wheelbarrow wheels, not even cheap equipment wheels. I've made those "hey I buggered something up" phone calls, never fun but making sure the boss hears it from you first is the best way to get it fixed. Anyone who says they haven't broke something or gotten stuck is a liar or a green horn who hasn't done it long enough.

    Those are transport wheels, not designed for any kind of load. If you're going to put the blade down, sooner or later, it's going to get sucked down and (over)load those wheels. You happened to be the lucky guy it happened to. The attachment needs something designed for far more load than those light duty wheels, or it's going to happen again. Looks like a pretty clumsy attachment, I was surprised how well you controlled it. Hope it doesn't cost you too much.

    Scott Marshall he got a really good deal on it. It comes in handy, and we aren’t completely sold on it. I’ll put it this way, he got it for a price that we can get rid of it if some minor improvements don’t make it run how we want, without losing money.

    Those rims are no heavier duty than a wheelbarrow rim. If you didn’t break it Dirt Perfect would have...........eventually. You just found the weakness first. As for your tracking left and right because of the blade angle I noticed Mike tends to drive forward faster giving him a straighter line. Something I noticed when side hilling with a zero turn mower. Slower meant more corrections needed. I may be completely wrong so take my comment with a grain of salt 🧂
