Sebastian recorded this masterpiece 33 years ago. But hard rock singers voices have a shelf life and Bach is no exception. Erik is a worthy replacement and it just makes me happy to see him tear this song up and see the band keep plugging away at a high level. Long live Rock and Roll!

So true! Nice to see this band back. I was a fan of them back in the day with Bach but they kind of fell off my radar. But they're squarely back on my radar now. Looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish with Erik. Hopefully there's many more albums with him as I feel like he's the guy they've been searching for since Bach left.

I LOVE this song!!!! I remember when I bought the Slave to the Grind vinyl disk in '92. I listened that disk all the time. Wasted Time and In a Darkened Room it is also one of my favorite Skid Row songs.

Holy shit!!!! This was so good. It’s impossible to not compare singers….but this is the closest they’ve ever gotten to that legacy sound. The spirit is there….the vocals are there….and the band still kicks. I’m here for this and would definitely go see this show if they play near me. Thanks for the video!!!!!

@@BiggDaddyCJ Agreed. Erik does a brilliant job and is in tune for sure BUT, but, the power isn't there. The music which is not overly loud almost drowns out his vocals... He is singing with intensity (but also strain) but not full vocal power like SB did. Many original singers don't sing to their full volume potential but Baz did in his versions back in the day. And for that, I give the nod to Baz... and of course he wasn't trying to sound like anyone but himself.

While we cannot deny the creator of the vocal parts WAS amazing, Erik is simply put THE most incredible singer I’ve heard in years. His energy onstage rivals the greats, and as previously stated DUDES GOT PIPES FOR DAYS. THE MIGHTY FU**IN SKID ROW…. LONG MAY THEY REIGN.

Have to agree. I’ve only seen videos of when he first got in the band. But just looking at this video….yes, you’re right…he seems very comfortable now, and the band is still bringing it. What a find this guy was. You can’t beat it if you want the legacy sound of Skid Row. Hope to catch this show.

They're afraid to screw this up and Eric quits so he can really do no wrong which is unfortunately what got them in trouble with Sebastian they really created that monster themselves but not wanting to reel him in from the start... Erik seems like more of a humble kid... now they just gotta keep him involved in writing new material... Erik got that swedish background and his vocals can handle some heavier shit than the nostalgic hits... Not that they should stray to far from their sound but they were a far heavier of a band by Subhuman Race than they were on their debut album and would fit in on a bill with Metallica or Megadeth as opposed to a Bon Jovi or a Def Leppard tour....

Btw Erik's not trying to prove anything to anyone, he sings this way because he can, and because IT IS that effortless. I love sebastian and he was one of the reasons I started singing. Hes a freaking legend. Im not questioning that. But this song from my opinion is one of the hardest skidrow songs to sing (along with wasted time) Anyway.. at the end you can clearly see that hes not hitting the note.... If you want a proper Bach live you have the SNL monkey business. But if you prefer this live version is fine man. Relax. Both amazing singers. Enjoy them.

@@BiggDaddyCJ What? Bach has never sung this live without it being messy and pitchy, he doesn’t even hit the notes for the high parts, he’s either flat or a half step down on purpose. The sound engineering of this live show seems quite unfortunate . Notice how Erik keeps moving his earpieces, he can’t hear himself sing properly and that’s not his fault. Never the less, i’d rather hear a correct clean note with pulling the mic away than everything i hear from Bach doing this song live. He was great for the time and he was an amazing guy to watch live, his energy etc, but it’s changed now and for people not still overly obsessed with the past, they’ll realise the singing in Skid Row now is way better than it ever used to be

I bought the debut cassette tape at age 8, and was hooked. The way Bach sang over the years was generational, but it sounds like he wasn’t conducive to the band reaching creative pinnacles. This guy has the tools, and it seems like the band is reemergence is here. Redemption. 🤟

Look for youtube vid title "Skid Row Oslo December 1991.m2ts", that's one of his best shots at this song. Imo even tho it still has a little of that Bach live roughness and pitchyness, I'll pick that one over this for the extra magic. Imo of course

Look at versions from 1991 in Oslo (the best), Brazil, St Louis, Miami and Sweden in 1992.. The kid here has some issues w/the 1st part of the chorus to reach/sustain the air/notes.. At the end on the highest peak of the song he takes some air which is something Bach didnt use to do and I would say even on the recent years when started playing it again..

@@BiggDaddyCJ Agreed. Erik does a brilliant job and is in tune for sure BUT, but, the power isn't there. The music which is not overly loud almost drowns out his vocals... He is singing with intensity (but also strain) but not full vocal power like SB did. Many original singers don't sing to their full volume potential but Baz did in his versions back in the day. And for that, I give the nod to Baz... and of course he wasn't trying to sound like anyone but himself.

This is insane! The part after the solo was killer, so well performed with such strength and passion...Erik is amazing, and the guys still play their songs to an amazing level.

While we cannot deny the creator of the vocal parts WAS amazing, Erik is simply put THE most incredible singer I’ve heard in years. His energy onstage rivals the greats, and as previously stated DUDES GOT PIPES FOR DAYS. THE MIGHTY FU**IN SKID ROW…. LONG MAY THEY REIGN.
Oh he's getting comfortable in his role and his voice is really shining through Erik is sounding amazing and the band sounds solid as fuck...

Have to agree. I’ve only seen videos of when he first got in the band. But just looking at this video….yes, you’re right…he seems very comfortable now, and the band is still bringing it. What a find this guy was. You can’t beat it if you want the legacy sound of Skid Row. Hope to catch this show.

They're afraid to screw this up and Eric quits so he can really do no wrong which is unfortunately what got them in trouble with Sebastian they really created that monster themselves but not wanting to reel him in from the start... Erik seems like more of a humble kid... now they just gotta keep him involved in writing new material... Erik got that swedish background and his vocals can handle some heavier shit than the nostalgic hits... Not that they should stray to far from their sound but they were a far heavier of a band by Subhuman Race than they were on their debut album and would fit in on a bill with Metallica or Megadeth as opposed to a Bon Jovi or a Def Leppard tour....

Btw Erik's not trying to prove anything to anyone, he sings this way because he can, and because IT IS that effortless. Bach absolutely cannot do this anymore, booze and drugs took care of that sadly.

I love sebastian and he was one of the reasons I started singing. Hes a freaking legend. Im not questioning that. But this song from my opinion is one of the hardest skidrow songs to sing (along with wasted time) Anyway.. at the end you can clearly see that hes not hitting the note.... If you want a proper Bach live you have the SNL monkey business. But if you prefer this live version is fine man. Relax. Both amazing singers. Enjoy them.

@@BiggDaddyCJ What? Bach has never sung this live without it being messy and pitchy, he doesn’t even hit the notes for the high parts, he’s either flat or a half step down on purpose. The sound engineering of this live show seems quite unfortunate . Notice how Erik keeps moving his earpieces, he can’t hear himself sing properly and that’s not his fault. Never the less, i’d rather hear a correct clean note with pulling the mic away than everything i hear from Bach doing this song live. He was great for the time and he was an amazing guy to watch live, his energy etc, but it’s changed now and for people not still overly obsessed with the past, they’ll realise the singing in Skid Row now is way better than it ever used to be

I bought the debut cassette tape at age 8, and was hooked. The way Bach sang over the years was generational, but it sounds like he wasn’t conducive to the band reaching creative pinnacles. This guy has the tools, and it seems like the band is reemergence is here. Redemption. 🤟

Look for youtube vid title "Skid Row Oslo December 1991.m2ts", that's one of his best shots at this song. Imo even tho it still has a little of that Bach live roughness and pitchyness, I'll pick that one over this for the extra magic. Imo of course

Look at versions from 1991 in Oslo (the best), Brazil, St Louis, Miami and Sweden in 1992.. The kid here has some issues w/the 1st part of the chorus to reach/sustain the air/notes.. At the end on the highest peak of the song he takes some air which is something Bach didnt use to do and I would say even on the recent years when started playing it again..
