It wasn't really an idiot ball, it was moreso him having a giant ego, claiming all the shit that tech is better than magic, he didn't foresee skeletor managing to achieve synergy between the two Edit: To add on to it I do believe hordak had some sort of control over skeletor but skeletors magic overrid that control.

Hordak demanded to know if there was a way to stop Grayskull's heir, and the "weird sisters" told him that the power of Havok would do the trick, they then gave him the Havok Staff, but told him he could not wield it himself as he was not magical, instead, he had to recruit a sorcerer capable of wielding the powers of Havok to work for him the "weird sisters" showed Hordak a vision of Keldor, who was destined to walk "parallel paths" with him and Hordak knew what he had to do, he approached Keldor with an offer of recruitment Keldor accepted and joined the Horde, but the corruptive power of Havok eventually transformed him into Skeletor

Skeletor served Hordak, but soon desired to take control and break away from the Horde, so he scouted and recruited Evilyn, who was "born into magic and possessed the unparalleled potential to bend it to her will", and with Evilyn's help, he defeated Hordak and left the Horde to form his own Evil Warriors and take over Eternia only to be constantly thwarted by He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

@@helixsol7171 well Hordak was originally a MOTU villain, appearing in 11 motu minicomics and only appearing in one She-ra comic, Catra was seen as Adoras main rival, it was the princess of power and secret of the sword filmation programs that popularized the idea that hordak was adoras equivalent to skeletor

Ill tell you, legal bullshit. Mattel may own the rights to making she-ra figures but Dreamworks owns the rights to making she-ra tv/movie content, so they wouldn't be able to use her, even if they wanted too, without permission from dreamworks
