I feel like her actions were born more from grief and a sense of betrayal, rather than petty sadism like the other Skeksis.

I agree. Unlike the other Skeksis, SkekSa was actually not so evil.

I really hope she’s featured in AoR season 2, she’s one of the only active skeksis (along with SkekGra and SkekMal) who doesn’t simply hang around the castle doing essentially nothing.

I feel like everyone took one look at this skeksis and just were like "Yep, that's my girl."

So as far as we can tell: skekSa is "plausibly" alive in the present (in Jen's and Kira's time) trap in a tree, and so urSan. Considering they are not stated to had died in the books.

@@mosquitomilk9877 Only because some events will be tweaked. The series will still be in-line with the movie but the issue is the movie is a dark future. So the direction the series sadly i headed is a grim one with the Gelflings loosing. The thing their doing is simply giving the future more hope then it seems. The rest will line up with the movie. So all the Skeksis alive in the movie are alive a the end and the Gelflings aren't screwed up for a future thats completely grim.

Well, assuming there are no Gelfling woodsmen around...

SkekSa didn't deserve her fate because she was not truly evil. she did what she did because she felt betrayed and hurt by those she trusted. which is relatable. which in turn means that SkekSa would be an ideal character for a redemption arc.

Poor dear SkekSa, she had a good heart but felt betrayed. They could do more with her since she isn’t officially dead as far as we know.

I agree. In my experience, (at least 90 percent of the time), when the death of a character’s death is not confirmed, they’re not actually dead.

would be interesting if she had found some redemption other then just the Heretic as it shows not all Skeksis were driven by hate that they were created from.

I feel so bad for her...

Out of all the Skeksis aside from the heretic, SkekSa was is at least genuine on her relationship with the gelflings, most specifically the Sifa.

I feel bad for skeksa. She was actually trying to be a good person not for selfish reasons,but out of the goodness of her heart.

Ooo I hope we see skekSa's character arch in AoR season 2. Watching characters who are sane and good spiral into madness and anger is always fun!

It says something very interesting about the nature of conditional friendship, and the nature of those that benefit from power, that SkekSa wanted to be so separate from the skeksis and the castle life; but then as soon as the Sifa showed they were willing to upend the status quo she was like, 'well I don't want to be that separate, actually'. That's an excellent and chillingly real narrative, and I love that about the skeksis--each one embodies a very *specific* type of evil.

Lets all agree on one thing: Skeksa is best girl

No, but given the new slate of books announced for September and October (including the one that I had originally been told was likely a November release - The Bestiary) I think a confirmation will come as soon as The Jim Henson Company has other announcements to make about their other properties ("Labyrinth", "The StoryTeller", and "Farscape").

I think skekSa will return along with the Sifan Clan and they may rescue Gelfling and take them across the sea to escape the Skeksis' genocide of the Gelfling. This would help to explain how the Gelfling later repopulate Thra.

Jim would have LOVED to have brought this character and her dragon to life on the screen.

One of the main defects of the Young Adult Novels was the total lack of Skeksis POV scenes. That was one of the beauties of the original movie novelization.

I agree! The books were great, but there was not enough writing for the Skeksis.

Oddly enough The idea or her red tinted eyes interest me the most, there just so much about skeksas design that I would really enjoy seeing a puppet of her in real life! I wonder how good her sword skills were.

I hope we see SkekSa in the next season! She looks so awesome! We still haven't seen the other Skeksis characters, some who were mentioned by name in the show, which I'm guessing will appear in season two or more. 1. SkekNa - Slave Master 2. SkekUng - Garthim Master 3. SkekShod - Treasurer 4. SkekLi - Storyteller

Granted, Jim Henson tried to cast them in a pretty indiscernible way, but there were some effeminate ones.... ... ... ... SkekEkt was more supposed to be a flamboyant male, though I guess that's not "kosher" now, and SkekLach was male as well but never really fleshed out until the prequel. SkekSa was also pretty vague originally but I like the character the expanded canon has created for her. In the end they're really supposed to all be androgynous beings but generally tend to express through more male energy and suffered at least one major vice like greed, lust, vanity, etc. Henson wanted it a certain way, there's supposed to be an alchemical spiritual story behind it all, about how identity can become a prison. Perhaps a warning for our own age, by placing it in a fictional time with fictional beings it becomes timeless.

Damn! The second Skeksis I felt genuine sadness for; after the scientist. I wonder if the Skeksis are able to reproduce or clone/repopulate; I know its a weird question; but the skeksis were already started with a fragile; dreaded population; with only barely a few doing actual work/maintenance

Although Skeksis are seen as grotesque beings, SkekSa is rather quite beautiful. So is her counterpart, UrSan, the swimmer.

I think she might be a villain and hero of the second season of age of resistance

I hope we see her in season 2 and I hope they somehow make her a good person because I don't see her as a villain just someone that feels hurt and alone with no one else to turn to you can't help but feel sorry for her.

I find her fascinating thanks for covering the little we know of her.

It sounds like the nicest of the Skeksis.

80's synth with some 80's IP is always a great mix :) Note that skekSa identified with a female, now, along with skekLach the Collector & skekEkt the Ornamentalist. skekSa is one of my favs! She is complex... when reading the books there were times I wondered if she was helping the Gelfling, or doing it just to betray them.

I really hope that they somehow bring back Age of Resistance. I really want to see SkekSa and UrSan on Screen. I also hope they find a way to show the Great Division of the UrSkeks and the two pairs that perished immediately afterwards.

I believe she will be season 2 because of her relationship with the Sifa. She rejoins the council when she felt betrayed by the Sifa for joining the renaissance.

Her story is just so tragic. Some of it is her fault but I would just give her a big hug.

If only Season 2 hadn’t been cancelled, I really would have loved to seen this character come into the show, it would have been really interesting to watch.

It seems whenever a Skeksis finds true, soul healing happiness, it gets yanked away. I really felt sorry for SkekSa

Very interesting facts about the Mariner and her UrRu counterpart. What a unique coincidence that the pirate Skeksis has feathers just like a parrot. It’s also unique that she’s the only Skeksis who chooses to identify as female. How ironic that of all of the Skeksis, I thought it would be SkekEkt who would have that gender identity. After all, there are so many people who view this character to be a female. I really hope SkekSa and UrSan will make an appearance in Season 2 of Age of Resistance. I think it would be very interesting if the Season is about Rian, Deet and Brea exploring the seas of Thra.

I genuinely hope they make a puppet of her for season two of AOR! Exploring the light and dark side of this split urskek is something i hope can be highlighted in the future. Perhaps one is for power reasons and one is for freedom. Or we could compare one to the crashing waves and one to the steady stream.

The new comics somewhat altered her character. In them, she's much more manipulative and power-hungry, with the cruelty of a true Skeksis. Presumably, the difference in her and the Swimmer is that she seeks rulership of the Sea, dominance and power, while the Swimmer is content with freedom.

Hope we get to see her in the second season along with the other Skesis who were absent in the first season.

I love how as said in this video, SkekSa and her counterpart UrSan the Swimmer were not so opposite because of the ways they both lived, unlike the others. In almost every other case, the pairs are very and yet fittingly opposites.

A character I am not as familiar with so thank you! Interesting creature but never trust a Skeksis! I hope to see her realized in season two... hopefully!

I hope that in AoR season 2 (or before they end the series) they show a flashback of what physically happened when the Division of the UrSkeks took place. I know it was in the graphic novels, but I want to see the Division on screen!

Yep, I'm very sure that we're getting her in Season two, but I'm also very curious on what this creature-like ship would look like!

I Really, really wish she had been one of the good Skeksis to rise above the urge to kill like Heretic. But i love her story and cannot wait for her appearance to be made in the show. There's so many to be brought in. I really had hoped she would've joined the gelflings

With SkekSa, I’m hoping they don’t do a major design overhaul to make her less appealing- much how SkekLach went from a craftier SkekUng type character that could hit in the prequel graphic novel series by TokyoPop as well as think into a gross looking Eeyore like character.

This was alot more interesting than I originaly thought! But. What happened during the conjunction? Did the skeksis kill her Mystic? Did they merge away from the crystal? Or are they still alone and divided?

My best guess as to how the mariner is the dark side is that maybe she’s more prone to trouble & fixes them with violent solutions, that & maybe she might enjoy fighting a bit Basically I’m saying she’s like a nicer jack sparrow without the rum Plus she seems easy to upset

Cami-Cat should play SkekSa as once a charismatic captain turn bitter hermit due to being all alone. Only making her desperate of stealing some essences from the Emperor to restoring her strength and forming a alliance with SkekShod due hating the Emperor. Kinda like a charming captain turned crazy voodoo sea witch.

Sifa is "As If". And Thra is short for enthralled.

Since the uru part comes before the skeksis part in urskek, wouldn't it be Titek instead of tekti?

trapping her on land within a tree just sounds cruel ... I need some headcanon where she and her Mystics counterpart eventually cross paths and work together like the Heretic and his counterpart. They get along - dare I saw it - swimmingly and now roam the seas and explore them together

Are they opposites or are they expressing their nature differently? Wanderer/conquerer, etc.

They are the same creature, it's just that one is usually selfish and the other is selfless

So what happened when the Crystal was healed? Did she unite with her other half and become an Urskek again? And would that Urskek have left Thra with the others, or remain behind?

This is unclear right now because we haven't seen what happens in the show yet. But i would assume she reunited, the crystal's power would pull them together again no matter the distance.

Somebody needs to pick up season 2. We were robbed of this character, robbed I say!

Perhaps by leaving the other Skekise and the broken heart she was less afflicted by the madness Thra cursed the Skekise

The fact that our "heroes" tried to murder her in cold blood with a stab in the back while she was helping them save another Gelfling put me on skekSa's side and made me despise the protagonists for the rest of the books.

The mariner doesn’t really seem to want to conquer it Honestly the dark might come from her being a pirate character meaning she’s not one for diplomacy or at least isn’t good at it & has less nice solutions like threats or just stabbing something while she has fun
