    Suggestion for the tiny half-onesie: Knit a rib, buy a teddy bear in the right size, dress up the bear and give it to your nephew. By the way, I found some PT2 in the local yarn store this week. It was a very bright acid green, but I still almost bought it because the label made me nostalgic...

    I think your squares are just improving. You’re getting the hang of it and your hands are starting to understand what you’re doing. So your tension just needs to start evening out! Plastic hooks are 😖 squeaky little buggers. I have clovers and they’re lovely. Haven’t snapped on me yet (master crocheter here 😜) also, blocking a square does wonders, especially wool squares. Crochet is very forgiving, much more than knitting, more room to fudge a not up to size square in there anyway. Just try it. It’ll be fine! Congratulations on the book cover! It’s amazing and well deserved ❤ greetings from the Netherlands 😬 P.S. You could always leave a nice card in his letterbox thanking him for being so considerate to turn down the volume.

    London neighbours are such a gamble. The people in my building, so lovely, we look out for each other and help out (mainly because out landlord is negligent). But theguy in the building next door......my enemy. He streams crossfit lesson from the back garden like 4 times a week, pure bass and grunting. I asked him to turn it down and he got mad. Also told him his camera points into my flat and that made me uncomfortable, no response. I cant even open my windows. And the people behind me host parties every weekend in the summer until like 2am. I think I have like a year left in me until I run away from this city haha

    Tip on crochet baskets: You don't ever need to add "extra" increases as the circle gets bigger. Instead, when it starts looking like a hexagon instead of a circle, just "move" the increases so they're spaced differently every so often. That will give you the correct shape without distorting the shape. Btw, I adore my Clover Amour hooks but starting from 6.5mm the larger sizes are made from plastic instead of metal, and they're not quite as good.

    Knit With Attitude in London carries some of the Pickles yarn. Crochet gauge is just like knitting - practice, and it will settle. If we all had some knitting from when we first started and compared it to years later. It would be just like your squares. I can't use the fatter handled crochet hooks because I was taught to hold it more like a pencil. I crochet sock/fingering weight yarn with a 4mm (old US size G) hook, and it is snug like I used something smaller. I'm a tight knitter unless I'm doing colorwork. I was taught to knit Combination Continental. Purl stitches are a breeze, and don't use more yarn as some people say it does. Some days, I purl faster than I knit, when knitting flat. Irina Shaar, who is Fiber Chats on KZread, has done some videos/shorts demonstrating this style of knitting for anyone who is curious. Congratulations on the new home and cover.

    Hi, I’m writing you from Antarctica! 😂😂😂 not really, from the US, Michigan. I think you might have been off on the crochet because you had t been crocheting much and it took a while for your gauge to settle, along with your hook. I love ChiaoGoo needles too, they really do a great job. Hope you have a good week.

  • @My_Kraft_Room
    @My_Kraft_Room4 ай бұрын

    For your crochet you might be tightening up in the throat of the hook. Gauge is set lower down in the neck of the hook. Sometimes you need to turn the hook a bit to get through the stitch without catching the yarn. As I crochet I get more relaxed and get bigger sometimes. If you struggle the Susan Bates hook might be a hook you might want to try. The Susan Bates hooks are also known as an inline hooks they were designed for beginners to help them get more consistent gauge. As for hooks and yarn. Sometimes changing the hook makes all the difference. Certain materials of the hook and types of yarn just go better than others. I have cheap plastic hooks that work great on some yarns no squeaks and glides great, yet other yarns are terrible with those hooks, so I switch to my clover or Susan Bates.

    Maybe make your neighbour a cake and write a card to say thank you for his responsiveness and if he needs anything feel free to ask. Also the the meters - we lived in Finsbury Park and found out our water meter was metering the next door’s ground floor apartment. It never got sorted as we weren’t billed anyway but we did let the neighbour know 🤦‍♀️

    Congrats on your cover photo!! I had heard, and kept thinking, how is she not squealing with delight from the start of this video😂🎉! The little old man who turned down his music-maybe make him some food -bread, or a couple of cookies, and take it up as a thank-you gesture. You needed the music to not be so loud, so you weren’t wrong to ask that, but perhaps taking him something small will be a step in getting to know him as a neighbor and smooth over the awkwardness from having to ask him to change something before you knew him.❤ And thanks for making these videos! Always enjoy your perspective and seeing what you are making . Cheers from Oregon (which is in fact very far away from you😁)
