Skeet Shooting Tips - Station 2 - by ShotKam

Спорт

By following these step-by-step instructions, you can approach Skeet Station 2 with confidence and enhance your performance in skeet shooting. Remember to analyze ShotKam footage to fine-tune your technique and continually improve your skills. Complete instructions for approaching Skeet Station 2 (read more below):
Foot Positioning:
・Step into Skeet Station 2 and position yourself in the back left-hand corner of the box.
・Ensure that your hips are facing the low house window for all shots at this station.
・This foot positioning provides a stable foundation for smooth movements during shooting.
Establishing the Hold-Point:
・To avoid missing high house 2, set your hold-point at a level with the bottom of the window.
・The ideal hold-point should be about 20 feet out from your position.
・Analyze ShotKam footage to observe the smooth move starting under the clay and rising to the target line.
Target Acquisition:
・Avoid excessive eye movement by looking just off to the left of the barrel.
・Trust your peripheral vision to pick up the clay as it emerges from the window.
・In the ShotKam footage, your eyes should be positioned at a specific spot "here" to achieve optimal target acquisition.
Taking the Shot:
・Once you're confident and relaxed, call for the bird (clay target).
・Focus on the clay as it approaches your barrel, employing sustained lead to follow its movement smoothly.
・Keep an eye on the camera's crosshair, representing the bead of your gun, to ensure a steady mount and move.
・Pull the trigger with confidence when you have a clear shot.
Preparing for Low House 2:
・For the low house target, maintain the same foot positioning as with the high house.
・Adjust your hold-point to about 10 feet out and level with the bottom of the window to avoid obstructing your view.
・Target Acquisition for Low House 2:
・Look off to the right of the barrel, focusing towards the low house, to spot the clay target as soon as it emerges.
・In the ShotKam footage, your eyes should be positioned at a specific spot "here" for optimal results.
Taking the Shot for Low House 2:
・As you call for the bird, move with sustained lead up to the target line.
・Ensure the camera's crosshair remains steady, indicating a consistent gun mount and movement.
・Focus solely on the clay target and maintain sustained lead to break the clay over the center stake confidently.
Mastering the Double Shot:
・Approach the double shot with patience and timing.
・Use the same foot positioning and hold-point strategy for both high and low house targets.
・Break the high house clay before or over the center stake to give you enough time for the low house shot.
Focusing on the Low House Target for Doubles:
・Keep your gun mounted to your face and stay ahead of the low house clay target.
・Allow the clay to come to you as you focus on a smooth move and follow-through.

I find it difficult to get the high house before it gets to the center stake, then I have to get the low house almost before it gets out of range. I have to get quicker.

  • @welditmick

A tip - Wherever you shoot the high house, the low house will always be in a mirrored opposite. IE- If you shoot high house after the centre the low house will be past it also in its trajectory. Sort of not looking for it as such, but trusting where it will be saves time.

  • @sevenrats

    @sevenrats

    3 жыл бұрын

@@welditmick That's kind of obvious. Just because you know where it's supposed to be, doesn't mean you can get there. That being said my post was 2 years ago and have learned to get the first bird before center.

Breaking a low 2 single over the center stake is a bit too fast. Try to break your singles where you break your doubles. Low 2 on the double is broken at least 4-6 yards past the center stake.

All the champions don't follow your method! They make things very simple and understandable. I think for them its a question of harmony of the gun move with the movement of the target and nothing else. To make this harmony working by reflex a lot of training is needed like driving a helicopter. But when you have it, it works marvelously.

I'm lefty, setup at the back right-handed corner, on low six the back left-handed corner, High 2 and Low 6 are the closest crosser, and appear to be "screaming fast" out of the house, you want to be as far away from those birds as possible, helps in slowing down these most difficult stations.
