► Description:
Hello again, it's Daniel and I'm the founder of "Daniel's Skating School" and "Skate Shop".
And I would like to welcome you to the next video of my "Inline Skating Know How" series.
In the past, I received many messages and questions about wheels and bearings:
1. What kind and size of wheels are most suited for me?!
2. What kind of bearings exist and what bearings are the best?
So I thought it's time to make a video about! And here it is! ;)

    There are three different setups for aggressive inline skates. The first one is the flat setup with 4 skate wheels of the same size on each frame with a small or great grind groove between of them. The second is the freestyle setip with only two wheels on each frame and a huge grind groove between them. The third one is the "anti rocker setup", the setup you already mentioned. There you have two skate wheels, on in front and one in back and two small grind wheels in the middle next to the grind groove. The small grind wheels are not for rolling, they are for grinding. These prevent wheel bites and thus reduce the dangers of getting caught and stumbling when grinding. A few years ago I made a video about these different setups: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqNrzo-dnLCtoM4.html

    Do you recommend 88a-92a for indoor speed skating wheels?

  • @skamidanen

    @skamidanen

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hey there, I'm not a speed skater and I do not have any experience in speed skating. So, I don't know what wheel hardness is usually used for indoor speed skating. But 88a - 92a sounds a little bit too hard, with this hardness you will slide when turning or skating curves at high speed. But anyways it could be, as I wrote before, I do not have any experience in indoor speed skating. :(

    Where on the "A" scale, does a wheel go from being a soft wheel to being a hard wheel??

  • @skamidanen

    @skamidanen

    5 жыл бұрын

    Let me answer this question as follows: Indoor wheels have to be very soft, because the softer the wheel, the better the grip. And the ground of rinks like hockey rinks or roller discos are very smooth. So indoor wheels go from 65A to 82A. Outdoor wheels have to be harder, because of the uneven and not so smooth grounds. Soft wheels would have a too fast wear out. Moreover when using very soft wheels on uneven ground you would lose a lot of speed and it would be very exhausting. On not so smooth grounds you will natuarlly have a better grip, so outdoor wheels go from 82A to 88A. I myself prefer 85A for urban skating with tricks and 88A for urban skating from A to B or for faster skating. Aggressive wheels have to be the hardest wheels, because you like to slide, to grind and you won't lose speed. The harder the wheel the less grip you will have, the faster you will go. And this is perfect for Aggressive inline skating (skating at a skate park and so on). Aggressive wheels go from 85A to 92A. In addition for aggressive skating there are grind wheels which have to be very hard. Grind wheels and grind rocks go from 95A to 110A. Lastly there are SUV wheels for off road skating. I hope I could answer your question. But should you have any further question, just leave a message. 🙂✌

    @@skamidanen hi SkaMiDan, im a total beginner in inline skate...but my 1st skate that i bought is fully rockered setup..its really hard for me to find my balance at first but now, i get used to it and it is fun because of the agility of the rockered setup. My question is should i change back to flat setup and get comfortable with it, gain some confident with the 4x80mm wheels, or just get going with the rockered setup...? Thanks

    Handy as always Daniel. I’ve been using the Bones Swiss bearing since getting back into inline. They have served me quite well and the ability to clean them will make sure they last as long as possible. Bones also has a couple more high end products as well as a new (well new to me at least) product. In terms of price range, Bones Swiss then Bones Super 6 Swiss (like the regular Swiss but with 6 larger balls in stead of 7) and Bones ceramic. The new one (i think) is the Bones Super Red Ceramic. Based on their name I can only guess it’s built around their “Red” design but with the upgrades of the “Super” variant and ceramics added in.

    Great video! Though, I would offer a couple points of critique: 1.) Starting at 5:02 - The ABEC scale only goes up to 9 (see www.minibearings.com.au/technical/precision/440/ and www.gmnbt.com/bearing-precision-tolerance.htm ), with the companies that claim to be selling "ABEC 11" bearings being guilty of misleading advertising. 2.) Starting at 6:53 - The pronunciation of "ceramic" is "sir-am-ick", rather than "kai-ram-ick".

    There is no reason to buy anything other than a totally basic bearing unless you are at the world championships.....where maybe you want a basic bearing with the seals pulled off and lighter oil inside.
