Skagen Falster 3 Complete Walkthrough: The Best Looking WearOS Watch Gets More Functional

Ғылым және технология

The new Skagen Falster 3 showed up this week and, I'm not going to lie, I'm excited for a new Falster watch.
You see, the Skagen Falster is arguably one of the best looking WearOS watches, not just in my eyes, but apparently to a lot of people.
So naturally, when a new one comes out and it keeps that minimalistic style but upgrades the functionality, it's generally a recipe for success.
So really quick, let's do a complete walkthrough on it. If you're not familiar, a complete walkthrough on this channel is where I try and go through every feature I can on a new device so you are better prepared should you be in the market to go buy one.

Got the Falster 2 via a Brad's Deal deal for $69 last year. Great watch though it was a little slow and there was no speaker. The back of the watch came off and not it no longer works. I like the way this watch looked and worked and I'm willing to give the Falster 3 a try. Found a great deal on Watch Station ($125) for a new black Falster 3. Hope this one holds up better.

I was considering the Skagen Falster 3 vs the GWA2 sense I always have Samsung phones and I had the GS3 frontier still I decided to go with GWA2. Especially after reading about many complaints of wear OS. Glad with my purchase. Still the Falster 3 looks amazing imo just wear OS.. Also I need and love the health tracking gs3 and GWA2 have Great review though great 👍

  • @petedklein
    @petedklein4 жыл бұрын

Interesting video. I've given up on smartwatches, except the very basic Xiaomi Mijia Watch, which measures steps, does notifications all on a regular watch battery which lasts for 4 months without changing and just looks BEAUTIFUL, or my latest Huawei Honor Band for more casual circumstances. I just can't see myself using the watch for any indepth activity other than the basics like time, steps, heart-rate, sleep analysis, maybe oxygen level, and basic notifications. I go to a larger, better suited device for the intense tasks. I also hate charging my wear OS twice a day when my two current devices last from 5 days to 4 months at a fraction of the cost. I don't find myself missing the fancier smart watches at all. Maybe it's because I'm just an old man, but I don't think so. I'm fairly adventurous when it comes to adopting new tech. Anyway, that's my take. It does look like a beautiful machine nonetheless.

Yet another watch I love the looks of, and hate the battery life on. When I can travel with one of these Wear OS watches for a week (plus) without having to worry about recharging, then I'll consider owning one. I'm starting to believe the Chinese have it right by scaling back on functionality and providing two plus weeks (or more) of battery life.

Excellent review though you didn't mention whether it has wireless charging or not. It doesn't. That's a very nice looking watch and the ability to take and make calls is a winner. The only problem is that that Wear OS is awful. You never know when you should swipe or rotate and the user experience is counterintuitive. The 3 battery saving options are pretty good but that extended setting doesn't allow flipping the wrist to see the time is very inconvenient. I prefer the tailored battery savings options available on my Active Watch 2. I wish Samsung would allow other makers to use Tizen. There is a reason that Tizen is the No. 2 watch OS used globally after Apples Watch OS. Wear is an afterthought for Google. It's a lazy design with very little thought put into the user experience. Fossil, has to its credit tried to improve it where it could.

Why did sapphire screens go away altogether, and why do all the new models have an empty black ring in between the screen and the bezel? The original Huawei Watch looked better and I haven't found anything to match it yet, years later. A speaker and waterproofing are also not new features. I really wish someone made an original Huawei Watch, just with new internals. Even the Milanese band on it still looks new, plus the screen is flawless, even though it endured some drops and hits; it just needs better performing hardware.

Thank you! Honestly I think I maybe lean to the Skagen just cause it's a bit smaller for the same specs 🤔

Why the hell does nobody talk about sleep tracking on these watches and how it works ??????

  • @TheUnlockr

Because it can't do sleep tracking sadly. WearOS in general can't do it well (one of my biggest gripes about it in fact(

.....The fact that they're still using a shitty chipset still makes me lose all hope for Wear OS. Battery Life is still atrocious and its so damn Power hungry its insane. I love the way this watch looks but i hate how ass the OS is.

I have no use for LTE on a smartwatch considering you always have your phone within arms reach and it's connected to that. You're just paying extra for unnecessary connectivity on the watch if you have LTE

But can it run Spotify without sophisticated workarounds? Answer: no. Ow thank you Wear OS, or should I call you Weary OS? Why would anyone bother to buy something that does nothing else that a smartphone already could? I mean, it's fun to track your activities and see your heart rate (you could do that with an index finger and a normal watch as well), but without a standalone music player, who cares? Smartwatches are a waste of energy and time, not to forget to mention the money. Just spend your money on something that is able to generate energy in stead of wasting it people.
