Translation:
Wake you!
If you wilt listen to our songs and sagas old.
Hoï hoï i ho-i
Hoï hoï i hoï-i-hi
Hoï hoï i ho-i
This grinding wheel is called Grótti.
Hoï hoï i ho-i
Hoï hoï i hoï-i-hi
Hoï hoï i ho-i
They sung and swung the whirling rock.
On a boat,
Fenju et Menju, the giants, Mysing orders them
to grind salt.
Asked them to grind longer...
on a boat
Fenju et Menju, the giants,
he ordered them to grind more... salt so heavy... x2
Wake you!
If you wilt listen to our songs and sagas old.
Hoï hoï i ho-i
Hoï hoï i hoï-i-hi
Hoï hoï i ho-i
This grinding wheel is called Grótti.
Hoï hoï i ho-i
Hoï hoï i hoï-i-hi
Hoï hoï i ho-i
They sung and swung the whirling rock.
He asked them to grind longer... to grind salt...
He ordered them to grind more... salt so heavy...
Boat runs aground,
and sinks,
a vortex falls into mill's eye,
And then it was that the sea first became salty. x2
Wake you!
If you wilt listen to our songs and sagas old.
Hoï hoï i ho-i
Hoï hoï i hoï-i-hi
Hoï hoï i ho-i.
This grinding wheel is called Grótti.
Hoï hoï i ho-i

I'm a DJ and I am on a ceaseless and constant hunt for new music, sound and inspiration. I confess, in my years living and dying with music I never gave my ancestors music a serious listen. Boy was that a wrong move. My first interaction (along with a lot of Americans I suspect) was the History Channels Vikings. From there it was a love affair. From there it was Wardruna, Heilung, Skald, The Hu and my library just keeps growing. I am excited about music again and can't wait to experience more Nordic music as it is the music of my ancestors and I'm glad I finally gave it a chance.
