This guy is something else. He is fearless, relentless, dominating. He plays like he's 7ft tall. He's the embodiment of the phrase "you better come correct or don't come at all", because if you don't come correct he'll put you on your ass. I honestly can't remember the last time Rugby has had a player like this.

It's smart too. With him being shorter, he's got the benefit of a lower center of gravity. Definitely making it useful to use the bigger players' height against them; throwing off their balance with that style of tackle. While he's obviously strong and built I bet the "wrestling takedown" is more effective than a full on body slam. :)

I know I have a chihuahua / jack russel mix he has no idea of his own size and wants to kill everyone everything haha, cans wait for the world cup, faf vs Antoine in final who ever wins would be great!! love both players, Antoine creates more play and Faf is fearless and can defend and push like first line, very grateful to have them both play in same era.

Faf is that one friend in our friend group who is the shortest , smartest and the most protected in our friend group at all costs .

Don’t even watch rugby but how do you not love this guy

@@spawnmedia2461 again, "small" and "short" are too different things. you can be 6'5, if you're a twig, you're still small. in a sport like football, height can be advantageous for certain positions because of the aspect of catching the ball, it's easier to catch a high pass over a defender (or multiple) if you're taller, and conversely it's easier to intercept them and to guard tall receivers if you're taller. For QBs, height is important in order to be able to see over the offensive line, and offensive linemen need to be tall so that defensive lineman don't tower over them and are more limited in how they can attempt to get around them. Rugby, though, doesn't have similar dynamics, and as such height is not really important. Being shorter can even be advantageous, in that it's tougher for taller players to break down and tackle you with good form, since their center of gravity is higher. As such, it's much easier for you to break their ankles. It also allows you to more easily tackle players low, which is more effective and proper in both football and rugby, and it's easier to wrap up a taller player's legs. It'll also be harder for them to evade you as you can more easily watch and react to their hips, and your footwork and quickness will often naturally be better than theirs. The problem for most short players is that shortness often does come with being small and/or weaker than taller players, but he doesn't have this problem, so it's not an issue whatsoever

Although I was disappointed All Blacks lost the last world cup, this guy was a pleasure to watch in the finals.

Very impressive athlete. It’s not just his explosive power, but it’s his focus that makes him an exceptional athlete. He’s extremely spatially aware and knows where to put the ball, in any given direction, in just a single millisecond scan of the field. He also knows how to preemptively close gaps he foresees, keeping his own speed in mind.

The Giant Slayer is not to be f***ed with as he is fearsome and fearless. He can handle his own but has excellent backup in Etzebeth (202 cm and 125 kg) and Vermuelen (192cm and 110 kg) if he needs assistance. DeKlerk is amazing.

0:46, how many times have I seen South African players just smile in the middle of a field brawl like that lol.

Never watched a game rugby in my life but I can tell this guy's special. One of those intersport legends.

It's a mentality. Victory or death. Never back down. Rugby is awesome. The world needs more of it, especially the respect part of the game.

Gotta totally admire Faf. He has obviously done some form of Judo style training as he uses his lack of height (therefore a lower center of gravity) to tackle men twice his size and weight. Notice when he sees a big guy coming in for a tackle he bends down if he has the time and throws them over onto their backs like they weigh nothing much at all. All good for Faf as it gets the job done. He is quick on the ball and seems to instinctively know where a teammate is so he can pass the ball. In my humble opinion, he is definitely one of the best players around.

I came to rugby after I toom up judo as a pre-teens and it definitely helped me. Grabbing your opponents lapels and getting used to getting underneath your opponent really helped, and was a useful transition to rugby.

His games are fantastic.. He's Absolutely the best👌👌👌whenever thers a rugby world cup a look for him in the squad❤❤❤

His take offs are insane, he hits them before they start running.

3:42 one of the worst things to feel in rugby, having someone palm you right in your face.

Dude is relentless. great at tackling in open space, quick to close in during pursuit and keep his head up, shoulders low and wraps up hard before driving through. Most of these big dudes just arm tackle, that sorry stuff would work against a tiny running back in the NFL. Faf is a beast
