===========================
Lyrics:
Is this the eighth night
We light with family?
Recall with great pride
Our escape from Greek tyranny?
Kindle the lights
Remember the Maccabees
How did those five boys
Lead us to victory?
Well, they stood up against mighty foes
With their oil running low
Now we sing while lights glow
Ma'oz tzur yeshuati
Yeshuati
Judah, our faith was banned
Evil Antiochus said
No more Torah could be read
Judah, Mattathias' son
You would not throw our heritage away
Judah...
(Nes gadol haya po)
Am Yisrael Chai
These miracles our people will recall
("Guitar" solo)
I spun a gimmel, now I've got a lot of gelt
Sevivon, sevivon, will you spin this clay dreidel?
Chanukiah lighting, presents are delighting me!
Chanukiah! Chanukiah!
Chanukah! Sevivon!
Sufganiyot!
I light the candles with people who love me
He lights the candles with his whole family
Sharing the joy of our proud history!
Sevivon, sov, sov, sov
More sufganiyot?
More latkes...
No!
Please more sufganiyot?
Sevivon!
More latkes...
Please more sufganiyot?
Sevivon!
More latkes...
Please more sufganiyot?
Sevivon!
More sufganiyot?
Spinning, spinning, spinning, spinning sevivon!
Lo, lo, lo, lo, lo, lo, lo!
Oh aba, ema, aba, ema...
Aba, more sufganiyot?
We fry our food as we celebrate the Maccabees
We're free, we're free!
So you think you can serve latkes baked and not fried
But you know oil recalls those miraculous lights
Oh, bubbe
Can't do this to me, bubbe
Just gonna need more
Just gonna need more sour cream
Know what really matters
Like the Maccabees
Know what really matters
Thanks to G-d, our people are free
Nes gadol haya po...

You know it's so funny, 40 years ago, it would have been the other way around, grandma! Why do you have to saturate everything in schmaltz!? Now, since all of us have Boomer grandmothers, who were around during the Crisco craze, and believe the very best thing for your heart is no fat at all, are now the ones saying no fat at all, regardless of the occasion

Is you mentioning your race, trying to imply, you have no Jewish heritage? I just want to make you aware, you can be 100% of Jewish heritage and be black, asian, hispanic, native american, etc. Just wanted to let you know :-) It's just based off of your phrasing, the way you say it, makes it sound as if you're saying you're not Jewish by being black, correct me if I'm wrong, I could be misunderstanding. I'm just curious if maybe I completely misunderstood

Love is for all, and it is eternal. Can I say the Prophet was worth following? He preached the One is the only one worthy of submitting to; Ha Shem is another way of honoring Him, you say Allah, and His name is always honored by the different languages that pronounce it. We are on the same side -- really, cousin. As a Jew, I really enjoy nice compliments like yours. Warmly,

It's hard to choose a favorite aspect of this, yet my absolute favorite part has GOT to be these wonderful, inspired, hilarious lyrics: "So you think you can serve latkes baked and not fried! Don't you know oil recalls those miraculous liiiiiights? Oooooh, Bubbe! Can't do this to me, Bubbe! Just gonna need more, Just gonna need more sour cream!" LOVE IT.

Goy is actually a neutral word that means Nation. But do not call urself a Shiksa. It means a female abomination. The famous verse at the end of the Book of Daniel prophetically calls the setting up of the Golden Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mt., Shikuts haShomeim, the Abomination that makes Desolate. Don't even jokingly call yourself a Shiksa.

I know a good chunk of it is really not related to religion, and related to frustrations of generation differences LOL In case you happen to not catch it, the whole thing about the baked vodkas that are not fried needing more sour cream? That's in reference to boomers still holding on to their diet philosophies from the 70s and '80s, the concept that fat is bad, especially animal fats, and then so they try every attempt to be so-called healthy, regardless of how extreme and illogical their measures are to being healthy, to the point of basically ruining one of your favorite holiday foods lol. Think if your baby boomer Grandma decided to drain all of the pork fat out of the ham? And decided that the gravy had to be made with some sort of low sodium recipe, and it ends up just tasting like water? Imagine how disappointing that would be LOL. Or the Christmas cookies being extremely dry because she found some recipe from 30 years ago for fat-free Christmas cookies? That's what the lot goes they're talking about is like. You can definitely make good baked latkas, but it's implied that, she's not just an old Boomer who's following old diet fads, and applying it like it's absolute truth and even needs to be applied to an occasional holiday treat, but also is awful at executing that alternative, because also at the time that a lot of these new dietary restrictions were becoming known, between the 60s and '80s, the recipes to accommodate them were absolutely horrendous, and that's what they are referring to and that's why it's so funny
