    My Goodfellow man, thanks for the attempt, but there is a fail on behalf of explaining the purpose for the different types of shoe trees that go in different types of footwear. For example, the shoe tree that has the extended spring on the rear are probably designed for loafers as they don’t put stress on the sides of the loafer shoe, where as the double strut shoe tree is likely designed for a gunboat blutcher, a single strut shoe tree that is either hinged or strutted, but raised with an arch at the foot area or more for ox squirts

    I agree with your favourite and if buying a few at once then the price can be very reasonable around 20 USD each plus shipping. No point bothering with the other ones (apart from maybe the plastic travel ones) regardless of the value of the shoes they are just bad design. A nice set of matching cedar shoe trees should last an adult lifetime. Also worth getting a few taller boot trees with the same large/small part divided toe, rounded heel and matching metal knob.

    Great video! Have you noticed any damage resulting from the second set of shoe trees? I have a set of very similar shoe trees which I've been using on an old pair of CPs, and I've noticed over time that the heel tab of the shoe has severely weakened in the middle and is actually beginning to tear. Whether this is the result of the shoe trees being too narrow, or if it's just from years of wear and tear (literally), I don't know.

  • @theaestheticminimalist

    @theaestheticminimalist

    3 жыл бұрын

    I haven't seen any damage caused by the second pair. Do you think you got the right size of the shoe trees? I think it might be a combination of reasons why you start to see damage to your CPs now - The heel part is too narrow with too much force can definitely cause towards your shoes.

  • @brendan5235

    @brendan5235

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@theaestheticminimalist I purchased the shoe trees from a local shop and to my understanding, they were a one-size-fits-all. The pressure applied to the heel of the shoe is pretty strong - I kind of have to force it forward in order to remove it. I wasn't sure if this was to be expected because they're the only set of shoe trees I own. I'm pretty convinced years of wear has worn down the heel tab, and the shoe trees have only sped up the process. Needless to say I have definitely stopped using these shoe trees on my CPs and have now devoted them to my less expensive pairs.

  • @Chow_Time

  • @theaestheticminimalist

    @theaestheticminimalist

    4 жыл бұрын

    If you ask me which one can actually cause damage, I'd say too big. You want just the right amount of tension. Worst case for a pair of small show trees is they won't provide enough support but can still remove odor and keep your shoes dry.

    I use cedar shoe trees with split toes in all my shoes and boots. Cedar shoe tree is better than its alternatives because it is strong enough to prevent your shoe leather from cracking. It is a good investment because the material is highly durable than its plastic counterpart. Cedar shoe trees are also readily available because they are the most preferred option.

    Technically you don't need shoetrees for a brand new pair of shoes. Some brand put paper inserts to keep the shoes in shape during shipping. However, if you live somewhere humid, putting wood trees in even new shoes that you don't wear is not a bad idea.

    For the first type of show trees, what are the sizes

  • @theaestheticminimalist

    @theaestheticminimalist

    Andres Sandra doesn't have the best description for their shoe tree sizes, my guess is Small is 7-8.5, Medium is 9-10.5, Large is 11-12.5, and X-Large is 13-14. You should check with them before purchasing. Or, I recommend you getting the same style shoe trees from Amazon via the link I provided.

    For #4, you can push it forward before sliding the tree out. It just requires grip strength.

    3:00 Those are travel shoe trees, you didn't mention that. Light weight and cedar toes. The reason they damaged your shoes is because the ones you have are too large. Looks like an XL and you probably need a M for your small feet. Good video otherwise. Also, the knob on the twin tube split toes makes it easy to polish shoes...

    I wouldn't use those for travel. There are travel shoe trees as shown in the video. My small feet? I wear US44. You must wear US50 to call my feet small.

    Why is the term shoe tree being used for shoe shapers? I have a shoe tree, a one level plastic shelf with shaped rounded vertical projections that the front part of the shoe fits onto. Bought it for about $12 years ago, so convenient and better for shoes. Can't find one anywhere but they have overpriced shelves they are calling shoe trees. I can get a shelf anywhere,
