Six crew, 700 NM, and 1 ROLLY boat! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep.158

Follow behind the scenes on Instagram @svdelos
Its time for us to set sail!! Two weeks in St. Helena went by in the blink of an eye.. Now, its time to sail NW for 700NM towards Ascension Island… Another super remote island in the South Atlantic Ocean. The passage isn’t the best though as we have to deal with big swells and very rolly conditions  Much Love to you!!

It's a story of people living their lives in an alternate way, in close connection with the beautiful people and amazing planet that we call home. Our experience has affected us so profoundly we want to share it, hoping that others may find inspiration to follow their dreams and do what they love.

For most sailing channels it would be a real challenge (if not utterly impossible) to record and edit-down a long (fairly monotonous) sailing passage like this and come away with something interesting, engaging, delightful, and truly inspirational The Sailing SV Delos Channel and Crew excel at sharing enough of the reality and challenge, a healthy dose of the fun and delirium, poignant touches of the personal and those ever so precious and fleeting moments of transcendence and bliss. This current crew seems to have such good chemistry while still owning their individual and wonderful personalities (and endearing quirks), personal interests, and unique talents! "Being Aboard" for the 5 days, 700 miles, in just 32 minutes absolutely flew by! Nobody does living, documenting, and sharing their/The cruising-life better! Land-Ho, You Made It, and Feeling the Love of being an inspired viewer, and a distant participant, of another great passage and episode!!

Always good to see a new vid. My wife has cancer and lies in bed at night and asks "is there a new Delos yet?" It has been a form of escape for us, we look forward to watching. We have a 26 foot Haida that we may have to pack away for another life but watching you have fun is our pleasure. Keep up the good work

Try sleeping beam to beam vs bow to stern. In a hurricane we slept in the walkway centered in the boat as much as possible. It was that hurricane while tied into the galley that caused me to invent sailboat breakfast: You can only cook using ONE pan you can always hold on to and store in the sink when doing the next step... Get a pan of saltwater to boil potatoes, chunk up boiled potatoes and add large cut onions then add the eggs last. Add mayo salt / pepper and stir then put it in a plastic bowl (better suction than glass or wood) for the crew harnessed in and on watch outside. Go light on the salt since enough will fly into the food from the sea. Eat everything with a large spoon because "fork food" flies away or the fork pokes you in the eye (that's why a lot of pirates have eye patches, fork food))... It really sticks to the spoon vs flying away when you have seas higher than the mast day and night and tastes far better than it sounds too. Once at night in the hurricane when we were exhausted to the max and always using very little light to keep our night vision, I boiled up an entire head of lettuce when I thought I grabbed the cabbage. We had corned beef and lettuce that dark night and laughed our guts out :-) The seas were so bad that once the keel flew out of a wave and I was tossed overboard, from sitting in the hatch with both hands holding on but that's another story. Yes, I had to save myself or die... and here I am... Downwind I like wing and wing (if the sails are the right size it helps too)... don't want to over do it. Best days of your life are today and tomorrow so enjoy and remember,,, to survive the adventure is rule #1 :-)

The timing was amazing. To hit Ascension at that time of day and to get that great sunset. WOW

That was a 'rippin' riff' Lisbeth. Did you take that tune any further? Funny and musical.... Hmmm ever tried stand - up? Great video Delos. You're such a great bunch of peeps. It's genuinely entertaining watching your adventures.
