Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay (Otis Redding) | Playing For Change | Song Around The World

Learn more about our mission and how to be a part of the movement at playingforchange.com
Our heroes and soul brothers, Roger Ridley and Grandpa Elliott, return for this Song Around The World, "(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay," featured on our PFC 2 album. Mark once asked Roger the question, "With a voice as powerful as yours, why are you singing on the streets?" He replied, "I am in the joy business. I come out here to be with the people." Roger and Grandpa have brought so much joy to the lives of millions, and in this song, we are blessed to see them reunited again. We all shine on, and Roger's light is as bright as the sun!

Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.

I don’t know who’s idea it was to make mash up vid with musicians from all over the world performing, with various different instruments, their own version of such a classic track but it was a stroke of pure genius. Amazing!!! Well done indeed!
its a pity the music industry is in the the place it is today while the talent and soul is left on the streets to play. keep on bringing joy and smiles to peoples faces everyday, we all enjoy it immensely.

Sadly this is some kind of reflection of our world. Commerce and art don’t seem to fit very well. This music is art and peace rolled into one, minus the commerce, or maybe only slightly affected by commerce. It gives me hope anyway.
This is what the world needs! Every country, every people, no matter what color, what religion, getting together in perfect harmony! Make peace, NOT WAR! We are all the same, let’s just sit on the dock of the bay and get along!

absolutely brilliant
My grandfather was a professional violinist in his days, and played until the day he passed. He had this look that came over him when he was transported by his music. You can see it on these musicians' faces as well. I love that look. Just lost to the sounds, feeling it with all of their souls. It's the sure sign of a true artist.
I listen to this song whenever I'm depressed and tired.
Just sit and sing this song, everybody.

We can all afford to waste some time.
Always a pleasure to see grandpa Elliot singing. His voice is so wonderful and special! When I see him sitting by the Mississippi, I wish I could just be there, sitting and listen to him. Rest in peace Grandpa Elliot.😊😊😊
